Our wedding is Sept. the 16th and we meet with our pastor next week to try to hammer out some of these details.

The ceremony itself should be as fluid and expressive as you are. We're having 2 readings (chosen by the reader and then approved by us--which takes a little of the pressure off of us): one after the opening prayer and one while we light our unity candle.

While there are lots of classic tunes to choose from (from sacred hymns to contemporary love songs), the best music will be the songs that mean something to you. You don't have to have "your song" (but if you do, and can use it, then go for it!) but my advice would be to choose those songs that remind you of one another, of the unique and beautiful relationship that you have together.

and if you get any great ideas, be sure to share!

Come on, honey ... don't worry about normal! If there is a slower type song, use it for your ceremony if it means something to you and FH as a couple. If there is a poem you like (or wrote) that expresses the way you guys feel about each other, or about love in general ... use it. Make the ceremony your own so that you will remember it ... and if it's a littel different? Who cares?

I will be writing our reading myself, and as for music? We haven't chosen yet, but we are having a friend sing Christina Aguiliera's "I Turn To You" for our first dance, I will be having Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses" for my father-daughter dance, and since my FH isn't much for dancing, we will be omitting the mother-son dance, in favor of something else that I will also write to make both our mother's feel special. If there is any way that I can help you, email me at jotrkmommy@comcast.net
