Thank you everyone for such great ideas. I have been finding ways to cut cost and saving so much money. I just think it is silly to spend so much on the little things.

Invitations at WalMart. $14.94 for a box of 40 invitations and response cards. They give a you the document with the format for writing it, so you just write and print. You can get a box of 80 thank you cards for $14.94 in the same style. If you don't care about the style we found a box of 20 cards for $1.00 there.

We ended up saving about $300 on invitations. Exact same design, print, etc. Only difference is someone else doing it compared to us doing it ourselves.

I am afraid that I didn't succeed at being cheap with the wedding, however, we had a couple of ideas that helped to save money, and I think were much appreciated by our guests...

One, for favors, don't go out and buy little printable trinkets that no one wants. Make a donation to a good cause you beleive in. It can be any amount. We did, $1 per guest. Then simply add in a small note into your programs (if you have one) or hand out a small piece of pretty paper that states that money has been donated in their name for this cause. Most charities will allow you to give them a list of names for the charity gift. It saved a lot for us, because the original favors we were looking at were $5 per guest. So you see the savings... Good luck.

It's easy to do things inexpensively if you look around. Since you have a year to plan it should be even easier.

I got my unity candle set from Michaels (they had a 50% off coupon) for about $25. We did not do bubbles or rose petals but I know you can get fake petals from Michaels as well.

We had a great florist and they had great prices (I paid $430 for my bouquet/3 BM's bouquets/1 flower girl bouquet/2 altar arrangements/1 throwaway bouquet). All the flowers were roses.

You can make your own wedding invitations using pre designed sets from Michael's as well. Places like Ikea, Target etc are great for finding centerpiece materials as well.

Thank you so much. What wonderful ideas! I'm going to check out Michaels tomorrow and see what I can do myself. Congradulations on your wedding! I'm sure I'll figure everything out after all I have almost a year before my wedding. I am just overreacting and driving myself crazy trying to get everything done early.

Thanks Again,
Amber

I have some good ideas on how to do a wedding on the cheap (with out looking cheep). For my unity candles, we got the candles at michaels and decorated them ourselves with ribbon. For boquets, we got them at Safeway arranged for around $200. For our two alter arrangements, we got 6 boquets from costco in the colors we wanted. We made the two bridesmaid dresses for $50 each instead of the $150 and up prices we saw. My hair was done by a local lady who works out of her house and we also made the flower girl basket from a plane basket from michaels and put fake flowers on it and lined the inside with left over fabric from the bm dresses. I caution people against real flower pettals down the isle since they can stain your dress if they aren't white. We used fake ones from target in their dollar section which is were we found lots of tea lights and glasses which we filled with water and lit the candles inside. Get a few cute personalized napkins but for the bulk, go to costco and get thier napkins and nice paper table cloths. If you need anymore ideas, let me know I just got married on the 17th and it's all still fresh. Oh, I also made my own veil so I can give you tips on that, it's easy and cheap to do.

BTW ... that is the dress that I want ... but I am leaving the red on it. Is it as beautiful in person as in the pic? Guess it must be since you bought it ...

send an email to jotrkmommy@comcast.net, and give me a list of everything that you need. I have nothing to sell, but I will be able to give some ideas of how to cheapen things and still have high-quality.

Hi, I am in the process of planning my wedding with practically no money. I am trying to find used items in great condition to use. I am in need of flower girl dress size 5/6, basket, unity candle set, favor ideas, ivory or champagne shoes size 8 or 8.5, and pretty much everything. If anyone can help let me know.
