| So far I like WC better than the Knot. That may change once I get a little farther along but I doubt it. I'm in such a rural area I'm not sure the boards would help much. Seems like the planning resources on both sites are all geared at big cities. Maybe I'll start my own site...smalltownweddings.com or middleofnowherebrides.com! LOL

| I am definately a knottie. I've looked at WC a couple times, but I love theknot. Like someone else said, I hang out on the local board. It is really helpful to talk to brides in the area that I am getting married in.

I use weddingchannel for our wedding website, budget tool, planning checklist and address/invitation tool. Also for some pics and ideas.
I use theknot.com for message boards! I go to my local one and get recommendations and see pics of actual weddings and vendors, much easier to plan based on honest word of mouth!

I haven't heard any details about the merger, but I am sure that they will keep both sites for a little while and that the tools will stay the same. The tools on both sites are actually fairly similar as far as the information they capture. The difference is in how they capture the information. If they merge into one site, you should be able to move your information from one to the other.
I've actually been lurking on the Knot's message boards lately. I initially found them very difficult to navigate, but finally get it! I still think the boards on the weddingchannel.com are easier to work with, but I am now using both!

| Does anyone know how things will change with that? My wedding is in 2009 ... and I will need to see minimal changes in the way the tools are so that I don't lose things that I have saved ...

|
| Did y'all know that the Knot and The wedding Channel are merging? They announced a stock merger about a month ago. It will be interesting to see how both websites change / evolve.

| both the wedding channel and the knot are two favorite wedding tools - their checklists and budget calculators are great. i think the knot is more useful for help with local vendors.

|
|
| I did end up checking out the message boards there, but I found them somewhat confusing ... Anyone here feel the same way?

Well, I don't know about the message boards. I have looked a little, but I haven't really tried to make sense of them, so I can't speak for that. But I have definitely found their tools useful!

| It is getting close to our date for us! I used WC for our RSVP's and our wedding site. I love it. No vidinctive women (like the knot) and it is easy to use. August 4th, here we come!!

| I have set up the site for my fiance and I, and we have three registries, all linked on our site. We love that site! We use it for everything, the only disappointment for me was finding out that they used to have a myvirtualmodel feature on their site. It would allow you to try on wedding dresses! But now? They don't have it anymore. I am a little down about that. But hey, such is life right?

I love weddingchannel.com! I have been using it since we got engaged in January. They really do have great tools. In case you don't know this, you can also link to some registries on the site, too! I am linked to our Macy's registry. Anyone that visits our wedding website can link to our registry. And, as an added bonus, if someone purchases a gift from your registry through weddingchannel.com, the site will donate money to your choice of charities.
I have check out The Knot, but I'm not as crasy about their message boards. I can't seem to figure them out!

| I have never used the Knot. I found weddingchannel by accident actually, and I love it! I love the tools and stuff, it has been a great help to me. Do you have your "wedding website" set up yet?

| Hi! I use wedding channel...I feel as though the message boards, although people don't post as much as on the knot, everyone seems to be more easygoing...I love it. But also use the knot. They both have great tools.

| Hey guys I just wanted to see who is on here that uses the same site as I do for planning and ideas and stuff. I also wanted to recommend it for those who don't know that it's out there. They have a great budgeting tool, guest list helpers, and you get your own "wedding website" for free. The site is great and easy to set up, and it is basically an info site on your plans. They also alow you to post your wedding registries on your site ... very nice. But anyway, I just wanted to see if there were and weddingchannel users here ...
