my fiance and I are going to do custom m&m's, wrapped in some kind of see through fabric ... something pretty but cheap, and tied on the ends with a little ribbon or pretty string. We also thought of jelly beans, mints, a flower for each guest, a piece of cake for each guest ...

That is exactly why I am planning early. I want to book our honeymoon site and everything, and I am already in the process of setting up an appointment with my pastor to talk about renting out the church for both the ceremony and the reception. I am also going to go over ceremonial changes that I want to make, and ask about candles. that way, as I'm writing our ceremony, I know what will be okay and what won't. Then I won't write something and love it only to need changes. Planning early is going to ease a lot of stress for us, and we are glad for the chance to do it.

I totally applaude you for planning early. I tried to plan early and get my mom to help out and book things. We got down to a month before the wedding with no florist and having never met the photographer. The flowers were great but we should have gone somewhere else for the photographer. With all this time, you will be able to hit the sales and get great deals. Don't worry that others aren't as excited. With me, people were thrilled that we got engaged and then all the excitement went away pretty quick. It will pick back up when you are down to the wire. Oh, one tip, don't go to get your manicure or pedicure at a place you've never been to before. My nails ended up chipping before the ceremony started (I got them done the day before) and the guy was stressed since he was the only one working and he filed the side of my toe raw. So, tip is to do relaxing stuff the day before and hang out with your girls before the rehersal dinner but don't go anywhere new!

Well it can make a huge difference on cost also. We looked at our honeymoon place and between next year booking and if we were to book for '09 right now? It was in the hundreds to book for '09 right now. It was in the thousands to book now for next year!

Crazy but true. Booking and planning early not only gives you more time to work out the kinks, but it helps your budget apparently.

I'm getting married in Dec 08. I'm in law school right now so there's not much time for planning. But we do have our date, theme, and colors already! And we've looked at reception sites, etc too. I don't think it's too early because places are booking up earlier and earlier each year.

hey,
i kinda have the same problem. I am getting married in Aug of 2008 but i am planning things now. I have even started looking at reception sights and I lie to the people and tell them my wedding is next year. My family just rolles their eyes when i say things about the wedding and say "you have two and a half years. Your going to want something different by then anyway" So i only talk to my best friend about it but even she gets tired of hearing it. I think we are smart to plan now because we will know what we want and wont feel pressure to make choices on the spot. It will keep us from going insane durring the Actual planning and that will keep us from becoming a bridezilla :) Ok ill stop talking now. Just wanted you to know you are not alone and I love girlie stuff!

I will be getting married in December 2009, and everyone that I know is telling me that I am looking at this too early. But I am prlanning to totally rewrite the wedding ceremony so that it will be unique to my fiance and I, so I will really need all of that time for planning and writing. However, the lack of excitement from my family and friends is beginning to bring me down. I need someone to get girly and excited with! Anyone else here planning early?
