I got married last year. I was fitted 4 months before my wedding. They did not take in anything, but the dress seemed tight to me. I did not try on the dress again until the day of the wedding. I didn't wear anything under the dress except cute panties because it was 98 degrees outside. When my mom zipped my dress it was loose, not too loose, but loose enough that I could breathe. I hadn't lost any weight since the fitting, but I never took my measurement. Make sure you take your measurement too!!

WTG Hitchedin06! I tried on wedding dresses for the first time the other day and I almost walked out before trying any on. The under garmets she gave me to put on under the dress wouldn't even fit around me. Then the dress she picked up wouldn't zip. On top of that, she convinced me to try on a strapless dress (which I really didn't want to) and I remembered why I didn't want to try one on in the first place. I'm getting married at the end of July and I don't know what I'm going to do about a dress.

Good luck on the weight loss.

Congratulations! That's fabulous! I thought my dress was going to be tight on me, and when I tried it on with the undergarments it fit perfectly. I don't know if you have a Lady Grace near you, but, they sell the best undergarments for formal gowns. Love them!

Well, good news! Somehow (I don't know how!), the seamstress got the the zipper up! I was amazed. Granted, I couldn't breathe... ha!!

It's still a little tight in the waist & hips, but she said it fits perfectly in my chest. I go back in a month to see how the hem & bustle look & she said that we can take a look at that time about letting those areas out a bit if we need to. I have to say, this was the first time I really thought "Wow, what a perfect dress for me!"

Last night I re-vamped my workout again - hopefully that will do the trick. Yay for SP! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be this close without all the tracking tools, being able to read & get advice off the boards, and get ideas from the articles I read every day. Thanks to all of you who replied - it calmed me down before I went. :)

I've been there, Hitched in 06. If your seamstress is good, she will be able to let the dress out or add decreet panels under the arms in the side seam as far down as necessary to give you more breathing room.(the inserted panels will be of the same material and will be almost invisible my sister had this done on her wedding dress and i had it done on my bridesmaid dress.) The only other thing I can offer is to layer some very strong foundation garments underneith. Try the old fashion drawstrng corset. it can bring you in from 1/2 inch to 2 inches. Fredricks of Hollywood makes them in different styles and colors. Anything from control top panty hose to the old fashion girdles are also worth a try.

My first attempt was 2 months ago and the seamstress sent me home with my dress, saying that if I was planning to lose more weight, we should wait to do any alterations. Well, my wedding is 2.5 months away and while I'm not where I wanted to be, I'm better off than 2 months ago. I'm a little nervous seeing as I bought my dress a size too small (dumb, dumb idea!!) and it still won't zip. I'm hopeful that the dress can be taken out just enough to get me there (I'm about an inch off at the top). Has anyone here had this type of situation? Any advice?
