Ouch! Bresilien wax

I'm going in on Monday. If you can have it done a few days after your period is over, it's 10 times better. Also, if you have a few months until the wedding, try going in a few times (every 4 weeks is pretty good. You'll be surprised at how little hair there is after just going a few times. It will make the last wax before the wedding much less painful and, better yet, less memorable.
If you don't feel comfortable going to someone for a wax, make sure when you call they say "of course!" when you ask about the service. Never go somewhere that says "we may be able to do it," or "we don't do it that often but we'll try." Also, think of it as your annual checkup; this person sees this stuff all the time, it's just their job. The difference is that you'll have a lot more fun after this appointment (the look on his face a day later is much better than getting a letter in the mail a week later that says your PAP was clear).
As far as waxing everything else, I am a novice. If I can let my underarms run wild until Monday I will get them done, too. I've never managed to go so long on my legs without shaving and my facial skin is far too sensative to wax.

Just pop a few tylenol before your appointment (not advil, it thins your blood) and relax. You'll feel so much better afterward (the pain is pretty much over as soon as the strip is pulled). If you do experience redness, swelling, or irritation, go get some bikini-zone.

Good luck!

Thanks for weighing in with your experiences ladies...I am going on Tuesday and was a little nervous!

have you had it waxed often? because the growback should be soft without itch. it should also last more than a couple weeks. if you have only done it a couple times i can see the results, after a while the grow back is a lot longer and it thins out so there is that much there to worry about. ask your esthitician what kind of wax she uses, that might help the grow back. with my brazillian clients i use a tea tree wax very soothing with natural anesthetics in it. i rarely use the regular honey wax.

to all the nervous girls go in a talk to the girl doing the waxing before the appointment if possible, or get other things done so that you are comfortable with her. the more tense you are the more it is going to hurt. also the most painful time to get any waxing done is the 10 days pre-menstral, the best time to get it done is within a few days after.
you also want to get it done a few days before hand, don't use a tanning bed for 2 days after it, don't take a hot shower after, and the really big thing, no sex for 24 hrs. all of those things can cause alot of pain, swelling, and little white dots.

Hope this helps all you brides-to-be, this should be one non-stressful thing you do before the wedding.

To answer one question- You are stripped from the waist down. You lie down with your feet together making a triangle of sorts with your knees. When she gets to the bits that you don't want to think about, you bring your knees to your chest. Then at the end, she may clean up with tweezers. Thats when you REALLY need the kleenex!
As for the length it will last. I guess it depends on you. I do my eyebrows every month as long as I clean up a few stray hairs within that month. A brazilian will last me about a week and a half. But I do pull a stray hair here and there.
Oh and be prepared. The growback WILL itch. At the most inopportune times. Like when you are standing in line at the movies.
I was worried about what my fiance would think the first time I did it. He is a big fan.
Be sure to tell your waxer that you would like to look over 12. A true brazilian takes it all. Be sure to specify if you want a strip or a triangle left behind. I am not all that well endowed up top, so if i had a true brazilian , i could possibly pass for a pre-teen. (except for the crows feet on my face!)

Thanks for the info. I'm alittle concerned about having a stranger "down there", and obviously the pain. I made an appointment two days before the wedding. I hope I can walk out of there because I'm also getting my legs, armpits, eybrows and upper lip done. OUCH!!! The things we do to look good. I wonder if the guys realize all we do. When you say it won't last the whole two weeks, how long does it last? At least a week? Anyway, thanks for all the info.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks for the info! I was also thinking about having a Brazilian...but I really can't imagine some random person seeing all that. Do you lie there spread eagle or how does that work?

I want to also have a brazillian wax before my wedding day (Oct 7th). You know it's funny you mention laughing while having your pits waxed...and that that reaction is not typical. I got a tattoo done last year on the front part of my shoulder and I laughed almost the entire time I sat there...in between the shivering. I'm told that is not a typical reaction either! LOL

Fababs- Have it done a day or so before your wedding. You will swell a little bit and it will be tender. It will be painful, for sure and it will be pretty invasive. Your waxer will be pretty much up close and personal with you. I felt as though mine should have bought me dinner and movie first. Put your inhibitions aside. She will wax you places you dont regularly think about and certainly dont think need waxing.
It won't last the lenght of your two week honeymoon, but it will last you a lot longer than shaving. Plus if you maintain it, all the better. If you keep going back, you will get used to it, and it will hurt less each time.

I plan to have that and my underarms done, which in my opinion tickles beyond belief, but my waxer says that reaction is not typical.

Good luck and have fun! (with the honeymoon!)

We are taking a two week honeymoon and I don't want to have to shave everyday so I am having legs and everything else waxed. I've never had a bresilien wax but am a little curious. I'm pretty sure it must hurt alot. Anyone ever have it done? If so is it a good idea to do it for the honeymoon?
