Hi JALIQT, congratulations on your Aug. 07 wedding plans. I'm getting married sometime between Feb. and May but we just aren't exactly sure about when yet. It's a 2nd marriage for us so we are going to plan the honeymoon and then set the date around that. Good luck with all your plans. Keep us all informed on how things are going with you.

My wedding date is set for August 17, 2007. I know its a little far off from April, but I thought I would post a "hello" to the group

Man I went to an awesome wedding yesterday. A friend of my daughter's got married at a horse farm near here. The wedding was outside and the bride rode up with her Dad in a white horse drawn carriage. The driver was wearing tails and a top hat. Then the bride and groom left by carriage. The reception was in the made over stables that had a ball room added to one side. The food was amazing and of course I overate but I'll work extra hard today to get it back off. They had a small band (local guys that we know). The cake was 4 tiers with one layer being red velvet, one layer was chocolate, and one layer was carrot cake. I guess the top layer was red velvet but they saved that of course. Her bridesmaids wore beautiful black long dresses. It was picture perfect !!!

Have a great day,

Jane

ILOVEAS, Multiple Schlorsis is attacks the nervous system of the body. The coating of the nevers gets eaten away (kind of like a phone cord getting frayed) and it can effect many different areas of the body. Some symptoms come and go and some come and stay. My vertigo and nystagmus (jumping eye) has come and stayed. After my divorce I had a major attack and was paralyzed on my right side for about 2 weeks. I was in the hospital and on steriods and then had therapy for about 4 weeks. Then it took about 3 more months before I could go back to work. Some people are in wheelchairs and some walk with canes but so far I'm doing really well. We have alot of numbness that comes and goes and heat really effects us in a bad way. Fatigue is another problem also. My Dr. is thrilled that I am eating healthy and exercising now. He says that is really good for people with MS. If you have a chance, google MS and you can read all about it. I hope it's nothing that you ever get. I was diagnosed in 1995 but probably had it about 10 years before that but never knew.

I am a document controller in an engineering firm. I keep logs of drawings, issue drawings to clients and internal people, keep up with all the filing, and keep up with all the archiving of the projects. It's alot of computer work mixed with some physical work also. I love it.

Gotta go to a wedding this afternoon. It's the first of many this year. Alot of my daughter's friends are getting married this year and next year.

As far as my wedding dres........NO DRESS.....did that the 1st time with the big church wedding. This time we are going to have something much more casual and fun (beer and BBQ). So you might not get married on the ship now?? You still have time to change your mind and decide on what you want. It'll be here before you know it though.

Karen,
I don't think I am going to look for about a month or two so I can be a little closer to my goal. I don't want too many alterations and also I don't have anyone here to go looking with me. I can't wait to go home. It gets really boring here. we are actually thinking of changing our wedding plans so that everyone will go but I think it is going to end up costing a lot more. Our budget is 20,000 but I think I might have to spend about 5 grand more just to get everything I want. The cruise option is a lot cheaper, but we want people to be there. So what is the name of the hotel and stuff that you are using? I would like to see it if they have a webpage? have you decided on your color scheme? do you have a wedding coordinator? Anyway, hope you have a great day!

I am doing okay with everything. I think I am finally going to be able to control myself all weekend, i hope. I was just wondering about MS. i have heard of it of course i'm just not familiar on the effects of it. Could you fill me in? Do you have your dress yet? I'm probably not going to look for about a month or so so I can at least get a little closer to my goal. I don't want to have too many alterations. What do you do working wise?

Hi Crystal!

I've been doing lots of running and my legs are pretty sore, so I'm taking the day off! I should still be getting something physical in - Jeff wants to teach me to play tennis this weekend (should be interesting!) Good job on the water, that's one thing I've been slacking on!

Actually, I bought my dress last year. The first time I went out to try things on, I fell in love and bought it on the spot. It was only just barely tight, but when I tried it on again, it fit perfectly. My goal is for it to be loose! What about you? Have you started looking?

Crimes at sea??? Well, I'm sure that stuff goes on that the other passengers don't hear about. With the amount of people on the ships, something will probably happen once in a while. Personally, I've never had anything stolen or anything like that. I've walked around the ships by myself and felt safe. I wouldn't to on the top deck in the dark spaces during the night by myself. The main problem I have seen is people getting too drunk and acting weird but that can happen in any bar in any town. Overall I don't see it as a problem.

Sometimes when we book like a 3 hour excursion, I think that won't be enough time to do anything but I'm always surprised at how much you can do in that short of a time. Then you have plenty of time to go into the towns and do some shopping, etc. When you are on the island from like 7:00 to 5:00, you can pack in a bunch of stuff. Believe me, you will be worn out when you return to your ship and will want some rest time. That's just the way I am, but I'm old.....you girls are young. About not wanting to leave the island and not get back on the ship yet....YES, that has happened alot but just because the islands are soooooo beautiful that you don't want to leave. BUT you don't want to see the ship sailing off without you.....

I exercise about an hour every day. I work from 7:30 - 5:30 so I workout from about 6:00 - 7:00 and then eat some dinner and do my household chores. I only exercise 5 times a week because on Thursday nights I do the heavy house cleaning. Then I take Sunday off as a rest day. Since I have MS, I can't overdo on the exercise.

So tell me how you are doing with this lifestyle change !!!

Hi Karen? How have you been doing? Are you drinking a lot of water? I drank enough today, and worked out but then we got chinese food. Oh well I'm going to do twice the cardio. I have for the last 2 days so hopefully I can keep it up. Have you been looking for a wedding dress yet?

Hello Jane,
How have you been doing with everything? I am so excited because we just bought another laptop so I can keep this one at home all day! I'm glad because right now I can only get online after Evan gets home. So what have you heard about crimes at sea? Did you ever have a problem with anything on any of your cruises? We were watching Dateline or 48 hrs. or something and they said there was a huge problem with it. And also when you went on your excursions, did it give you enough time to do what you wanted or were you left not wanting to get back on the ship yet? How have you been with exercise? About how long have you been at it and how long do you workout everyday? Have a great day!

RCCL is my favorite too. We went on the Mariner Of the Seas 2 years ago and it is the best ship. I'm sure Freedom will be just as good or better.

Thanks for your great ideas!

We'll be going on the new Royal Caribbean ship, the Freedom of the Seas. My most recent cruise was RC and I liked it much better than previous ones.

You've made me so excited to go, I wish time would hurry up!

Karen, why yes I do have recommendations. I've been to the Western Caribbean at least 5 times.

Jamaica - Dunn's River Falls is a MUST. I like to take a catamaran excursion that takes you to the falls. The falls are beautiful and you start down at the bottom where they empty into the ocean and then you climb up for about 1 1/2 hours. The water is soooooo refreashing. I've done this 3 times and would do it again. I also parasailed in Jamaica and love it. One other time we took an excursion to a plantation to see, then shopping, then to the falls. I would not do anything on my own in Jamaica - too dangerous. Stick with the ship's excursions and you'll be fine.

Grand Cayman - If you have time take an island tour & then another excursion also. The tour takes you by most of the island's best tourist spots (turtle farm, Hell...it's an actual little town, 7-mile beach, the conch house, and the rum cake factory. Snorkeling is also very, very good in Grand Cayman and 7-Mile beach is sooooo beautiful.

Cozumel - snorkeling is great here. Once we took a whole day excursion to Passion Island. There they have hammocks, beach, all you can eat and DRINK !!, and changing facilities. It's beautiful and a very relaxing day. We have also just spent a day at another beach there and that was nice too.

I've never been to Hispaniola. I would recommend any catamaran excursions, or beach/snorkeling excursions. Kayaking is fun too if it is offered.

Which ship are you guys taking? I'm so excited for you. What a great honeymoon. I can't wait for ours too.

I'm getting married in March. We are still just beginning to plan. We have a venue picked out for the ceremony and a list of guests but that's as far as we've gotten in our planning. Of course I've been looking at dresses and what not... I'd like to drop about 40lbs before the big day but if I don't I'll be glad if I could simply be healthier and more fit.

Hi Jane :)

Wow, 11 cruises, I envy you! Our honeymoon will be my 5th, my FH's 1st, so he's a little nervous. We'll be heading to the Western Caribbean - do you have any recommendations of things that we MUST DO on either Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica or Hispaniola? I've never hit those particular locations before. Thanks!

Hi ILOVEEAS. That is so exciting about you getting married on the ship. I'm VERY experienced about cruises, so if you have any questions, please ask. I'm glad that you are doing what YOU want for your wedding. So many weddings are done to please the parents, etc. and it should be for the bride. My daughter is also getting married next summer and I've told her to have whatever she and her fellow want. She is my only child (not a child anymore, she's 26).

I won't be getting married in Mexico because I want my daughter and Lewis's daughters to be at our wedding so we will marry here (SC) and then fly to Mexico. I may change my mind and get married on the ship too....who knows !!!!!

Tips for the cruise: 1. Don't take too much clothes, you won't wear them all. 2. Book your excursions online before you go so that you get the ones you want. 3. If you can afford a balcony room, by all means, get it. It is wonderful to wake up and go out on the balcony and see the beautiful ocean every morning. 4. We book the late seating for dinner bc it gives you time to get back on the ship from the excursions, site seeing, etc. and still have time to go to the top deck and relax and have a drink or take a short nap in your room.

More tips as we go...

Jane

Some of the Starbucks drinks are sooo bad, especially when they add all that whipped cream! Two years ago I was having one of the more "bad for you" ones almost daily! But I definitely now stick to the not-so-bad ones. I know caffeine is bad, but I'm drinking a lot less than I used to, and hopefully I can wean myself off!

Is it possible that you're gaining muscle? I always hated it when people said that to me - I want the scale number to drop! - but sometimes that actually is the case. I have confidence you'll be seeing results soon! :)

Hi Jane,
OMG I can't believe that! Too bad were not going to be in the same ship. We are leaving April 1st on the Diamond Princess. We will be getting married on the 2nd. It will be my first cruise. I am so excited but I want to be excited to sit out in the sun and on the beach not covered up. Our cruise leaves from LA. So are you getting married in Mexico then?
It will be my first wedding and we are doing it this way because I don't want a big wedding. I want it to be shared by only us. I guess that might sound selfish but I just fell in love with the cruise idea. I want to be a size 9. I was 6 months ago...I don't know what happened. I might have another obstacle and that is that we have decided to try and have a baby so that it would be able to meet his or her's great grandpa. But I guess I will keep trying until that happens. How many children do you have? I'm sure you will be able to overcome whatever obstacles you face as long as you keep your eye on the prize and do it the right way that is healthy for you.

Karen,
That sounds good about all the walking! Be careful with the Starbucks though. Take a look at their nutritional information on their webpage. Some of their drinks are enough calories to be a meal! You might have a lot of excess water weight if you drink a lot of coffee or alcohol too. The hiking sounds fun. I wish Evan would do things like that with me. I'm not losing ANY weight, I am getting so discouraged. I need to get Evan on the same page as me like your fiance is with you. Good job!!!!

Hi, ILOVEEAS, I just had to jump in here and chat a little. I got engaged last Nov. and we are getting married on Mar. 30 or 31, 2007 (which ever day is Sat.). Then we are going on a cruise leaving out April 5 to the Mexican Riveria. I saw that you are getting married on a ship. That is awesome. Which ship are you going on? We are looking at taking the Golden Princess. It starts in Acapulco and ends up in San Francisco. I've been on 11 cruises so I obviously love them. We would get married on the ship but my family wants to be at our ceremony. It's our 2nd marriage so we will just have something small here and then spend more money on the honeymoon. Good luck in all your plans.

I want to be fit and at least a size 12 by the time I get married. It's really hard for me to lose weight because I am limited to exercise because I have MS but I am doing what I can. Sounds like you ladies are doing very well on your journey to a healthy lifestyle. I waited too long to start mine but better late than never.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about spending the week making up for the weekend. It's so awful (I'm doing it right now actually).

Yesterday I walked to Jeff's office (2.25 mi away with HILLS) to join him for coffee, and then walked back. It's something I think I can keep up because it's so nice outside and Starbucks at the end is a reward. I hope this will help with my awful weekends!

I got really frustrated yesterday because a pair of jeans that recently started fitting really well got tight again. That can't ALL be from Easter, can it???

haha, calcium. I have been doing really badly lately. I need to work out, it has just been hard to get motivated. I am going to work out a lot tomorrow. I feel like on the weekends I just lose it. Then even sometimes on ondays and Tuesdays I do bad and then the rest of the week I'm just making up for the weekend. ARGGG!!!!
Good job going for a run. That must have took a lot of motivation. I'm so tired I'll write more tomorrow. Good luck with everything tomorrow. And if you started your new job good luck with that too.

That sounds awful! Did you know you were gonna have that stuff done? If you want to put a positive spin on things, it sounds like you got a good deal of calcium this weekend!

I definitely had some chocolate, more than I should have, but I didn't go completely crazy. I also went for a run on Sat. morning with my sister, so that's at least something positive.

I went for a 2 mile walk/run (more walking than running!) and it was sooo much harder than on a treadmill - I feel so out of shape!

I hope your mouth is feeling better!

Well this weekend went out the window. I went in to get a tooth pulled and had to have mouth surgery so not only did I not feel like exercising and I couldn't really eat so I ended up having 2 milkshakes and some ice cream this weekend so I have a lot to make up for but I figure tomorrow I can really get back into the swing of things. How was your weekend? Did you have some chocolate? What about the exercising? Well I'm sure you did better than I did. Hope you had a good weekend.

That's pretty cool about the thunderstorm. We got an ok one yesterday - but being the weather girl that I am, I like big storms!

This weekend is going to be awful. I'm going to my parents house in Delaware, and I know there will be chocolate! I'm gonna *try* to exercise at some point, but it's hard when I get out of a routine.

I probably won't be able to get on here at all this weekend, so good luck with everything :) Have fun with Evan and your dog and drink lots of water!

I'm not sure how an elliptical machine compares calorie burning wise but I know that is is a lot better for your joints. It's less impact for your knees especially. It's getting really nice here too. We just went for a drive in a huge thunderstorm. It was so cool. The thunder was shaking the ground and we could feel it in the car. That weather was really weird though because it was like 75 degrees today. I really don't like working out outside though, especially running. I don't know why really except that I am more of an inside person.

I can't wait til the weekend. I'm not planning anything too great. I'm just excited to have Evan home with me. During the week I'm only with him awake a few hours a day. All the other time it's just my dog and I. He keeps me company though. He's a little chihuahua.

The 5k run sounds like a fun thing to do. 3 miles really isn't that much especially if you can run around 2 right now. You can do whatever you put your mind to.

The only thing I'm not looking forward to this weekend is eating right. It will be harder with Evan home and I want to make sure I work out too which is hard when I want to hang out and be with him and he doesn't like to workout.
