I don't have any advice for you, but I'm glad you posted this. I'm in the exact same situation you are. The bride is TINY and I'm almost 5'11" and... NOT tiny :) I had to give her my measurements last week and it's my goal to have to take it in a whole lot!

But don't worry, you'll look great

Thanks for all the info guys! I need all the help I can get, I think I decided not to get the alterations through the store, but through my moms friend that has been making alterations her whole life. She said that she could do it 2-3 weeks before the wedding which gives me more time to lose some weight, so thats a very good thing!

Don't worry about it... no one will be looking at you. They'll be looking at her.

I'm going to be a bridesmaid in October, and I plan to go and buy my dress in August. If you have a seamstress or dry cleaner who you trust, I'd have them do the alterations. Bridal store alterations are amazingly expensive, and take such a long time. If you think the dress can pass for anything other than a bridesmaid's dress, then take it somewhere else 2-3 weeks beforehand and mention that you have a formal dinner to attend, and give the date. A decent seamstress or tailor should be able to do it faster and cheaper.

If you have already made arrangements for alterations from the Bridal Salon, they will probably take you measurements when they do the fitting, and if these change, they will charge you again. Also, if the wedding is in 6 weeks, they will probably charge you a rush alteration fee if you go in today. That's why I'd recommend a good seamstress. Ask around for a recommendation.

If you have lost 20 pounds already, then keep doing what you are doing! You know what works. Maybe add some more weight training for the arms if the dress is strapless, but otherwise, keep it up!

make sure your alterations are taken care of at the LEAST 2 months in advanced. Drink lots of Lemon water it's a natural dieretic...however u spell that... It'll burn your water fat. turn on the music and dance non-stop as long as u can go...If comfortable take diet pillsi take hydroxycut but remember, if u do take them the most commomn mistake ppl make is drinking caffeine with them they already have LOTS of caffiene. Use medicine ball if you can I love it!!!
Sorry for the spelling i suck !!!

Ok, so I am gonna be a bridesmaid in May and I am super stoked for my best friend (bride to be) but however, I am a little worried about something. The bride to be is a small girl, about a size 2, and 5' along with ALL her bridesmaids. I am 5'9 and a size 16 and I am so scared that I am gonna stick out like a sore thumb! The wedding is in 6 weeks and I am hoping I can drop some pounds before hand....Any advice on how to deal with dress alterations and such?? When should I get it done, I have lost 20 lbs so far and I am hoping to lose about 10-15 more but I dont want to dress to be too loose or too tight! Thanks!!
