I went in to DB's last week and finally tried on dresses. My jeans are a 12-14 and I wore 12's and 14's. The lady there said they are trying to only carry dresses now that are true to size so girls won't be so upset! I had a really good experience!

I bought my wedding dress last July 2005. I tried on a million dresses and kept going back to the Oleg Cassini one. It's been sitting in my friend's closet since then! When do you start your first fitting? How much before? I am getting married Sep. 30th 2006

I just got my dress for my wedding as well and I must say don't listen to what everyone says just try on. You will never know until it is on your body.

I got my dress at David's Bridal. I was a size 22 at the time. I tried on dresses that were two sizes bigger because that is what they suggested. I ended up buying a 24 only because I knew I would be losing weight. When I bought the dress it fit in the hips, but not the bust. I couldn't zip it up (now with the weight loss I can).

I agree with the previous girl, you should try on each individual dress. I shopped online for my dress style and then went in and only had to try on 4 dresses.

Good luck!

You can also buy a David's Bridal garment bag for $5, or was it $10. I guess I don't remember but I got one for all the traveling that I'm going to be doing with my dress.

I wear a size 8-10 jeans and my dress is a 14. DB is just like Old Navy, you have to try EVERY ONE on. JENNIB is right, you get a white bag and get charged $10 or $15 for it. I didn't know til I got my recipt... O well.

They give you a white bag. You can't see inside the bag.

they will badger you to pick it up until you come in - even from 10 months out. i'm sure it will be great! it's just good to know how they act before you do final business with them b/c they can be outright tacky with you if you need help afterwards.

I've got to pick up my dress soon - they called me last week to let me know it's in.

I want to try to get time to try it on before I take it home though, just in case - like you said, they're no returns/no refunds so I'm going to make sure my dress is pefect before I take it home.

Anyone know what kind of bag you get with their dresses? I wasn't expecting to get it so soon and don't have anyplace to keep it aside from home - where FI lives with me! I don't want him to see it, so I hope they give an opaque bag!

just a word to the wise on david's bridal - don't pick up the gowns before you're ready to own them forever. once you've picked it up there is absolutely no refunds, exchanges, etc. i had an absolutely horrid experience with them as a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. they have permanently made my black list.

Got mine there for my wedding last year. I was a size 10 at the time and tried on the 10, but it was too big. Ended up with a size 8. I was VERY happy about that. I have a C cup chest and a very small waist, so I had to do the smaller size to make it look right.

I get to go there next Thursday. My MOH and I are going to look for dresses for her. Mine is ready to go (and ready to be taken in!).

I dont think they make a size chart because it is different for each dress. Not to mention every body is different, so rather than focusing on a particular size, they want you to look at how it looks on you. When I was shopping for my dress, I probably tried on four different sizes that all fit. Craziness!

I wear a size 14 and I had to get a size 16 dress.

You actually CAN beat the prices - Da Vinci dresses are frequently copies of David's Bridal dresses (since DB copies Impression, and Impression owns Da Vinci, and turnabout is fair play).

If you go to Bridesave.com, there is a tool for David's Bridal comparisions, from a few designers that are similar and often cheaper.

Happy Hunting!

Awesome! This does help!!! I wear a 12/14 in jeans and I am looking at some dresses online that only go up to 16. I REALLY hope I can do a 16 now, but I guess I can always try it and if it is just *slightly* tight I could expect to fit into it by November. I'm just worried about DB's because I've heard some bad things...can't beat the prices though!

I got my dress there. I'm 5'7" and was 170 lbs when I tried it on. I wear size 12 jeans. We ordered a size 14 dress, which is just a tiny bit too small for me. My goal is to have them have to take it in, rather than let it out. ;)

I wear a 14-16 top and an 18 bottom, and I ended up with a 16 dress. But most of the dresses I wanted to try on didn't come in Plus sizes, so I didn't really have the option of going 2 sizes bigger!

That's funny how you guys say you got a dress two sizes larger than what you normally wear. The lady told me she was going to get me one size larger than my jeans. Too big! So I wear a size 12 and I got a size 12 dress. I don't think the sizes are consistant from dress to dress at all!

I don't of a size chart, but when I went in, they asked my jeans size and my bra size, then had me try on one to two sizes larger than my jeans size (I'm pretty big in the chest, so I frequently had to go larger to accomodate that).

Hope that helps!

Does anyone know where I can find a sizing chart for David's Bridal? I called and the lady at the store didn't really want to tell me approximately what size I would be. Their customer service really sucks! I am trying to pick out dresses online and don't want to pick a dress that only goes to a 16 if I wear an 18, you know?
