I got a bridesmaid dress in Ivory for $125, including shipping. No tiara or veil...just fresh flowers in my hair. The practical side of me can't see spending so much on something I will wear once!!!

I am having a casual wedding in Moab, so I needed a shorter dress, and I found an ivory bridesmaids dress that was already hemmed for $50. I tried it on and it was perfect. The best part is is it is a size 16, but the seamstrees at the dress shop said that because of the style of dress it will be a cinch to take in when I lose my 60 pounds. Is that a great deal or what? I really want to find a wedding hat, but I am having a hard time.

When I was shopping for mine I found the most gorgeous dress. It looked good on me, and I really wanted to get it. Then I found out that the dress was $1500, the veil was another $600, and the tiara $200. I wanted it so bad, but I promised my mom that I would take a week and really think about it. I sat down and figured it out, figuring spending about six hours in my dress that day, the whole thing would cost me $6.38 cents per minute. I could not justify spending that much money on a dress.

The dress that I did order is perfect. The other was nice, but the second I put this dress on I started to cry (along with my mom, and MOH). It was perfect. And everyone (dress, veil, tiara) cost less than just the other dress.

Who here is going to rent their dress instead of buy it?

If I had been the one paying for it and had money, I would have spent up to 2,000. But, my parents were paying for it and their budget was 1,000. Thankfully, I found a gorgeous dress for 810.00. It's so funny though, I tried on everything from Vera Wang to David's Bridal, and honestly, Vera Wang didn't impress me as much as ANY of the maggie sottero's I tried on did. I feel that Maggie Sottero really knows how to design a dress so that it flatters every type of woman.

Haha...sorry for the rant.

I found mine for under $200 at a wholesale shop in CA. But--JCrew has some really pretty dresses (brides and bridesmaids) that aren't TOO expensive.

When I originally found my dress it was $649 (but it was off white) well my fiance said later that he really wanted to see me in stark white. I went back to Davids Bridal to see if the had it in stark white in my size and they did. So I tried it on and it fit great. I got luck because it was on sale for $99!!! With tax it came to a total of $107!!! Yippy!

I haven't purchased the dress yet, but the one I love so far is only around $300 and it is gorgeous. My Senior Prom dress was $600.00, so I figure this one is a steal.

All I wanted was a simple dress with no embroidery or beading! It was impossible to find! I went to every bridal shop in LA to OC! I finally found one in Beverly Hills and it cost me $4100!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!

WeddingGirl-

I bought my material at AC Moore, a normal craft store in my area. It's a lot like Michaels and I've seen similar stuff in Michaels, I was just closer to AC Moore that day. The tulle was in the wedding aisle, and I got the hair comb, crystals, and clear thread from the jewelery section.

If your looking for something simple, try looking at the mall right now since it's prom season. you can find lots of long dresses in white, off white and vanilla for under $250.00. I bought my wedding dress on Dillard's winter formal clearance rack for $88.00! A beautiful sheath dress that was originally $250.00. The taylor I use to hem my pants is only charging $25.00 for the hem job. The dress didn't com with a train so for matching material that I found and sculpted lace (All of it was discontinued or on sale) that an additional $50.00. I'm also making my own veil and headpiece for under $20.00 because I do crafts and it's not that hard for me to thread beads that I already have. I'm even making my own bouquet so I'm allowing about $35 dollars for that since my mom does crafts and has a ton of ribbons. I already bought my shoes and they were on sale for $39 dollars. Everything else is just costing me my own time (yeah, like I'm not investing that in the wedding anyway). Now that's a great bargin!

Mine was $399 from David's Bridal - total bill (including petticoats, veil and shoes) was about $600. Mom paid for that, since Dad's footing the bill for the rest of the wedding, and she wanted to pay for something!

Thanks mom!

I posted earlier that my dress was $470 plus tax ($517). I'm getting it altered and added to by a seamstress for about $50, so I guess it comes to about $580, which isn't bad for a dres I fell in loe with.

I got my dress ages ago (11 years) but I bought tons of bridal magazines. After coming to like 3 I went to the bridal shop with a friend. I asked to see the first top choice, they even let me try it on. I didn't want to take it off. They put a tiara on, I didn't particularly like it. I wanted a sleeveless dress, but this particular style didn't come that way. They took a polaroid picture. I order the dress and did not even look at the price tag! I showed my mother the dress and she approved and said she would pay for half. I bought my ballet slippers from another bridal store (my husband is 4 inches shorter than me). Once I found out the price of the dress, my fiance and I sold a truck that we bought together, and my mother paid the other half. I didn't get the tiara. My mother took me to a millenary store and had my veil made, which had little tine pearls sewn on it. Since my dress didn't come exactly the way I wanted, I ordered extra lace, and had the back cut out. My parents didn't know this until the wedding, which was in The Cathedral. My brides maid got a training in how to hook my very long train up using the little buttons, but on the actual day was unable to remember how to do it. So I danced holding my very long train, I was exhausted from the wedding, and carring another small person (the train). Total cost of shoes, purse, veil hoop skirt, extra lace, alterations, and dress, plus tax $4,440.32. I told my husband when i die someday to bury me in the dress because that was one of the happiest days of my life. I have 1 child who is a boy so he has no use for such a thing. I felt like a princess on my wedding day. The rings are another stiry. We got them at a steal. My engagement ring was $5,000+ and we got it for a little under 2K.

I told myself my dress budget was $600, but I ended up spending $800 on the dress. I looked online, but I only saw it cheaper one place and I really like the service in my bridal shop.

But I got my tiara for $15 on EBay.

I'm making my veil myself, so it's maybe $40 for a 120" veil with Swavorski crystals. It would have been about $20 if I skipped the crystals and the clear thread.

As I said on another post, we're considering getting our rings on Amazon, for about $110 for the pair, only $35 for mine. I'll probably get talked out of that though. My fiance isn't the frugal sort.

I haven't gotten shoes yet. I'm thinking silver strappy sandals, since I wanted a pair anyway, so they'll be really useful. I've seen them for $30-40.

I saw a necklace I like online for $25. Haven't made up my mind or done any shopping around yet though.

About comfy shoes - I've seen people get the ballet style isotoner slippers. They're padded inside and have rubber bottoms. I'm going to get a pair for my reception.

I am planning on renting my dress. I dont exactly have the money to buy one. I am also getting a great deal. I am renting my dress, veil, shoes, hoop skirt, and gloves for $345. I think this is a pretty good deal. I just dont want to be stuck with a dress that I cant do anything else with. I might just use some different shoes though. I am thinking about getting me some ballet shoes since no one will see them anyways. I am planning on trying to be as comfy as possible.

Okay i have to redo this one I wrote because I found a shop where I live that I am renting my dress at for $200 and my accessories are included. I get the veil w/headpiece, dress, bra, jewelry, cleaning and alterations altogether. I dont know where I am getting my shoes though.

I won't be officially looking until August, but I was willing to spend under 300$. My FI's parents really aren't in the picture. They might, and that might is emphazied, show up for the ceremony. So, that leaves him, me, and my parents to pay for it all. My mom wants to pay for most of it. She's really sweet about it, and tells me its the least she can do after all the hard work I put in at college. She's very happy for me. However, I don't want to take too much of her charity. She bought the dress for her wedding (to my Step dad 9 year ago March 1st ) for 250$.

Pretty good deals on everything...

$612 for dress
$35 for shoes (sale)
$44 for pearl choker
$44 for tiara (from Michael's craft store of all places!)

The rings were a little steeper...

$2,500 for .80 carat diamond engagement ring
$700 for .50 carat diamond wedding band

I also got my dress from RKBridal. I was very pleased with it. It's a Victoria's Bridal and they only sell it one place in Iowa (where I live)-and there they'd ripped the tags out, so I had my sister-in-law talk to someone that works there and find out the brand, then I found it on the RK site. It was around $800 in the store and I got it for $495 including shipping! The most awesome thing about it is that it fits PERFECTLY!!! No alterations needed

Since we are going for a casual beach wedding I set a limit of $300. We only have about $4000 to spend on the entire wedding, so I felt that was enough for my dress. I ended up finding the perfect one today, for $98...so I'll use the rest for some cute shoes, and maybe a fun bikini, since we are having a big beach party after the ceremony.

I got my dress for $300 because it was discontinued. It's a Maggie Sottero dress, so it normally would have cost around $1500. I absolutely LOVE it, and seriously-- not a single soul will know that it was discontinued-- and who cares anyway?
I got my veil from veilshop.com for $10 while they were having a sale. I HIGHLY suggest you ladies check it out, cause the quality is exactly what you would expect from a bridal shop, and you get to choose each and every aspect of your veil (length, width, trim, crystals, tiers, etc).
I got my shoes for $25.
My tiara was $20.
And I already had a necklace and earrings that match the dress perfectly!
Oh-- and I bought a crinoline (so I can dye it pink!) for $22.50 off of ebay.
Can you tell I'm on a major budget?

my dress was $1200. I'm probably going to get the veil off ebay for like $30 and no tiara. The shoes are killing me though... the ones I love are $175. Ouch!
