We have over a year to decide but we can't make up our minds. We will be leaving the day after the wedding. It's a toss up between:
Jamaica, Aruba, St. Lucia, Nassau/Paradise Island, Oahu,Hawaii, or Cozumel,Mexico.
I know that is a looooong list, the sad part about it is that the list has been shortened significantly LOL We really need to get it together and narrow it down.

| We are actually doing a honeymoon registry to help us pay for it. It's kind of neat since we have our own place already.

| Briana.....actually we do both scuba dive and are actually going down with a group of divers.....the week we are going down there is the week of the coral spawning so that should be interesting........I'm thinking we should rent a car for a few days to see all the sights........I would really like to visit the volcano.....gardens....and I heard there are some really cool natual hot springs down there.....we are staying down there real close to the pitons....view from the resort.....Thanks for your help I'm thinking the best way to check these things out is probally by car......but will probally spend the majority of time at the resort........

We went scuba diving for the first time while we were there and it was amazing. If you haven't ever been, I would recommend it. I don't know if your resort offers classes, ours did, so that is how we went. I also really enjoyed an excursion we went on to the Pitons. They are these twin mountain peaks they have and there is a drive in volcano between them. It was very cool. I had never seen a volcano before, and you can get really close. Then we went to a botanical garden there that was awesome because there are just so many beautiful tropical flowers and stuff. They do have some pretty good markets in the "poorer" part of town, if you like to find great deals. For the most part, we just stayed at our resort though and enjoyed relaxing and playing at the pool and in the ocean. Stuff like that. I hope you have a wonderful time!!

| I got married last August and we stayed at a Sandals Resort in St. Lucia. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect for us. Lots of activities offered, but plenty of time to just relax by the pool.

| A friend of the family is giving us their timeshare for our honeymoon as a wedding gift. We couldn't be more excited because we're both in college and couldn't really afford to go anywhere. So, now we're off to a resort north of Miami. I am in the same boat with having to get ready for a swimsuit in 3 months!

| Thanks! Yeah, I am working on the tan. I am getting one gradually, but it's coming along. I am from the middle of the US - raised in Tulsa, OK and now I live in Dallas, TX. I am trying to do it right, without burning. I am up to 12 minutes at a time now, and I started at 7. Haha, I am SOOOOO white. THe added color to my skin makes a million times difference in how I look. :)

| Keri......I can't wait either.....but I'm 6 months off still....I'm sure you'll be fine in your new bikini......a tan always help me feel more confident.....I don't know where you are from......but where I'm at it is cold in the winter and I use to always hit the tanning booth B4 traveling in the winter......but this last trip I bought a coppertone sunless tanning product "gradual tan" it did not turn me orange or leave funny lines......and after few days of applying it I had a nice tan.....anyway......that's what I do to feel more confident in a swim suit.....

THANKS Lala! Yeah, if I were any more excited about it, I'd be running in circles. :) Thanks for the tip - I will try to remember that when we get there. You sound like you have been to some amazing places! Must have been fabulous!
I CAN'T WAIT!!! I have a new bikini, and pray to God that I can feel confident enough in it to strut my stuff for my new hubby on the beach!

Kerri..........you will love it.......Belize and Honduras are incredibly beautiful places.....be careful in Cayman.......their dollar is more than ours and sometimes you think something is US dollars (especally in resturants)and it is Cayman dollars.....as example....I took my 3 daughters in Hard Rock Cafe there......we had the worst cheesburgers I've ever had and the bill was over $80.00.......you might want to ask if the menu is in US or Cayman before you order anything and I do not reccomend the Hard Rock there......other than that they have the most beautiful beaches there and NO street vendors harassing you.......never been to Costa Maya.....but have spent quite a bit of time up and down the Mayan Rivera.......it is beautiful.......Have an awesome trip!!!!!!!!!

SO EXCITED: We are going on a Carnival cruise to Belize, Honduras, the Cayman Islands, and Costa Maya (Mexico). Yaaaaaaaaay!!! I am trying to actually have a bikini-friendly stomach, and I only have 3 weeks and 3 days to get there!!

I went back to the carnival site and found the information... this is what it says: Automatically added on: $10 per guest per day to cover Head Waiter, Waiter, Cook, & Cabin Steward. In addition to that is a 15% gratuity added to drinks purchased. Also an option to tip the Matre'D. So yes I was off, but not completely. You were paying extra tips without realizing it because they added it to your drink tab. For anyone interested in the page the info is on it is: http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Gratuities_Tips.aspx

| I go on two cruises per year and have NEVER paid 70 bucks a day for tips.......Most cruise lines nowdays set it up so they take $10 per day per person and bill it to your onboard account.......so that way you don't have to worry about ANY TIPPING.......tipping runs 140 per week on a cruise ship for two.......

Oh I knew that cruises didnt require a passport; passports were only the reason we werent going out of the country for ours. Also, my wedding isnt until 2008.
As for tipping... if you look on carnival's website they tell you what they put for tipping if you search enough for it... it is more like $70 per day what with wait staff, room concierges, activity organizers, etc, etc
Dont get me wrong I am not saying cruises are a bad option... even with the (in my opinion) very high tipping expectancies alot of cruises still price lower than most destinations.
We are piecing our honeymoon together ourselves and it will cost only a little less than a cruise. The only difference is that we will get to choose how long we stay at each "stop" and we will have to find our own entertainment, but that is how we prefer it :)

Just to inform::
Cruises don't require passports unless you go on a super exotic one. Not until Dec 31 06. Also, tipping isn't too bad. Most cruises comes to about $10 a day in totals & some just require a basic of $10 a day & split it up themselves. That's only $70 in tips.

We dont want to deal with passports and the like so we are staying in the US. There is so much of it we havent seen, we just decided we'd choose one of the places we wanted to see most and havent had a chance to see yet. So we are going to the New England area and doing it like a tour. We're going to start in MA and work from there.
As for cruises... be sure to take along dramamine (better safe than sorry, nobody wants to spend their honeymoon seasick) and be sure to leave all your valuables at home. For money use travelers checks, there has been piracy reported among cruises lately and you dont want to lose something irreplacable. Also, keep in mind that cruises have high tipping expectancies so plan accordingly. Alot of times they will add it to your bill at the end and you dont get a choice. So the price sounds GREAT when you buy it but then you get home and found that the trip cost you DOUBLE what you had figured. Just a heads up.

My fiancee went on the Alaskan cruise about 10 years ago. He went with his family. They went on the cruise that was on the inside passage in August. He said that there was great weather the time they were on it and that they were able to see the Northern Lights.
He really liked it, especially the kayaking.

Hey there, This is a very interesting topic! I have been spending lots of time lately trying to plan our honeymoon! We are getting married on Sept 09, 2006. And we are thinking about lots of different things! My fiance would really like an alaskan cruise! but I am not sure I am very crazy about that! Has anyone been on an alaskan cruise?! We are still in discussion but I know we are getting down to the point where we really need to make a choice.

Anybody taking a cruise? We weren't going to do the honeymoon thing. We spent our money for it on the closing cost of our condo. However, we decided that it would be a good thing, even if we take it a little later.
So we are thinking about a cruise now... probably the Carribean. We are wondering if any have been there or if anybody has a rough estimate on about how much to plan for the cruise... not counting the plane tickets to get there.
