Helloooooooo Is there anybody out there? My computer has been in the shop and while I'm definitely keeping active I just have to say I'm not loving the tracking of the food. it's just so tedious. eating wasn't great this week.too much valentines treats! Howz it going with you?

| Hey, thanks alot and I'm there for you too!

I agree we all have our own unique needs and until someone asks for support in a certain way I think it is best to be there for support and advice (if asked for). That is what I did when I first started to message, and I did ask for some pushing because I don't want anyone else giving me excuses (I can come up with enough on those myself! So yes you have my support.

I just had my 1st questionalble experience w/this site. Thus far I've felt very respected and supported about my unique approach to getting on track with my diet ....I know goals are really important to some people and that depending where you are in your particular journey, some people truly benefit from structure, tangible goals etc......fine good great whatever rocks your boat or makes put you put down that bologna sandwich, really, whatever, great.....I think the thing to remember here is unless you personally know the individual your advising or supporting, .....you should be careful not to get too preachy. It's understandable that people want to share their successes, but to assume that we all need to follow the same path is well, just poor judgment in my opinion.....and that's just it, it's my opinion right or wrong.
The weird experience I'm referring to didn't happen on this thread, it's not important to point fingers, but it got under my skin and up until now I was feeling completely accepted in this community. I guess I'm just saying that until you establish a relationship and trust, and unless specific said order and structure is asked for it's probably best to support people in the way they want to be supported and not how we feel they would benefit. For the record, today I'm cleaning my house period. Tomorrow is my long run w/hills. Skinny and whathappened we're still a team right?

Hi all, Sounds like were all on track. I meant to mention that I'm 5'3 too and 153 lbs. I'm not crazy about wkly weigh ins but I felt like sharing that much with you. When I started running 16 mos ago I weighed 178 and the only thing I did to lose the wt. was start a walk/run program very slowly. now I'm ready to examine my eating habits and actually think about what I'm eating. According to a diet personality test I took on this site I'm a fast fueler, which feels right....the act of calculating every morsel of food is a so unappealing.......but alas i've been tracking food and drinking more water (6 glasses a day which is like a flood for me!)
So, glad to hear the exercise is going well for folks.

| Hi, I weighed in this morning and I've lost 2lbs. since last Friday. The exercise had to of helped me this week because my eating wasn't the best! How did you do? Have a great day! Remember we have to work for what we want!

| I always feel great when it's over, yes. Partly from the endorphins kicking in and partly because I can go sit down again, ha ha. I know that exercising is the key to success for me because there is only so far I can go with just diet control. Thanks for the encouragement.

| Great for you! Didn't you feel really great after you walked? I know I always feel more energetic after I exercise. I got my exercise in too. I exercised to a video that has about 25-30 min. cardio and 25-30 min. strength training. Since I didn't exercise this morning I did both segments tonight.I would like to weigh-in and report on Friday.

| By the way skinny6, are we weighing in on friday or would you rather not? I know CP would rather not but if you want to report progress toward the 20 lb loss then I am listening... I have lost 3lb toward it since the start date (it's always easiest in the beginning). I will let you know on Friday if I've lost any more. I think I calculated the original date based on an approximate 2lb per week loss.

| ok, I finally did it!! I managed to drag myself to the treadmill this morning after I took my kids to school. I walked 45 minutes (extremely slow- I only burned 160 calories) but I actually did it, and now I am committed to doing at least that a few times a week.

| I didn't do horrible this weekend but I didn't track my foods so I might of done a lot worse than I think. I'm always good about drinking the water, never have had a problem with getting that done. Now exercising is a different story, I can procastinate until I'm blue in the face! Okay here's a challenge for you! I didn't get up this morning to exercise so now I have to wait until I get home from work. I challenge you to get your exercise done by the time I go to bed which is around 10:00. I say before I go to bed because you also need to post on this thread what and how long you exercised and I need to see this before I hit the hay! I also will exercise and report back to you! Well got to get back to work but I will be waiting for your message!

Hello everyone, How did everyone fair the weekend? I did fine until a superbowl party last night. I was as careful as I could stand, then I came home and tracked everything I ate. The bad news is that I went over my calories I had allocated. The good news is that I ate way less than I normally would have at a party. I didn't lose anything this morning when I weighed but I did maintain. More bad news... I didn't exercise all weekend. Someone please say something to finally get me on that treadmill!! It is right up stairs in my house with a big TV in front of it. What is wrong with my motivation to move?? Is everyone remembering to drink eight or more glasses of water? It's so important to help flush out toxins when you are trying to lose weight, and it also helps flush away fat.

I can't answer your questions but I'm sure the people in resource could. Just click on the tab and ask them. I know that I have to exercise right away in the morning too. I don't really run out of energy but I just don't get it done and if I do do it then my heart isn't into it and I'm thinking about what I need to get done around me, so it's not a good workout.

your right about planning. so far i've got a never ending bowel of salad greens in the fridge along with pria bars and water bottles handy for quick snacks. i did get to the gym this morning late....my energy sucks after 10 am as far as exercise goes, so i never really worked up a sweat not even after 30 mins on stairmaster (level 5) or the upper body machines and free wts... monitoring my food intake is going to be rough...but i'm trying. how do i get my own community journol and create a link on the message board?

| I'm not sure if this is less time consuming, but I just hit the don't show meal plans option so that only stuff I add shows up. Then go to add a food and enter in key words to find it. I put it mozzarella cheese for example and scrolled down until it came up as sargento light mozzarella cheese and then check the portions that they have listed before adding it. If the least amount of a portion is one cup for fresh pineapple for example, and you only ate half a cup then change the one to a .50 or .25 if you only had a few pieces. I sometimes add light shredded mozzarella to my egg whites and since it is only a few sprinkles I record it as skim mozzarella 1 ounce serving. It is a little time consuming but I prefer to have it all online instead of writing it in a notebook (but that works too) ; )

Here are a few food ideas for those interested- breakfast: a half cup of eggwhites, I use allwhites in the carton, scrambled with any or none of these items... one slice of canadian bacon, one diced tomato, green onions, mushrooms, spinach, and seasoning spices, I lightly use garlic powder, salt and pepper. Drink a cup of V8 light and a big glass of water - no juice, or just the big glass of water, 16oz will count as two of your eight required, this is when I take my vitamins. This is a high protein, low carb breakfast and I was told by a personal trainer that this is extremely important in the fat burning process. You get your carbs later in the day. If you don't have the time for this in the morning then boil some eggs the night before and eat the egg whites from two and possibly just the yolk from one and a light mozzarella cheese stick, sargento makes one that is pretty good. Don't forget to write down your calories or go to the food diary provided by spark and add the foods that you eat, they have so far had everything in their database that I've looked for and they do the calculating for you.

For anyone who is interested, please let's share ideas about food choices and exercise and whatever else you can think of... I found the first multivitimin that my body can tolerate (I usually get nautious) and I can tell that I have more energy. It is New Chapter Organics - Every Woman I or II depending if you are under 40 or over. No, I have no interest in the company, I just thought it was a fantastic find because it is all natural without binding agents that usually make vitimins harder to tolerate or to absorb. I bought a bottle of 180 from a whole foods here in town for $70 then I found it online for $40 at a couple different sites, I just plugged in New Chapter Organics into google and a few discount places popped up as options if anyone is interested.

| ok, I think I've confused some people. I am new to spark people message boards and it now seems like a lot of work to find both new threads that I've created. Please disregard my email about adding it to the lose 20lb forum and let's just continue meeting here under the game room if that's ok with everyone. Thanks everyone for being patient with me.

I have lost another pound this morning (I know I'm not suppose to weigh in until Friday though) and I have yet to get off my lazy butt and walk or run (but I am today, I promised myself). You are right about the word diet, my sister is always fussing at me about that. Force of habit, consider it changed ; ) The food choices that I am using right now are a bit different than the ones that spark recommends. The choices they give are nutritionally sound but I know that I will not lose much weight on that plan. The plan that I use ensures that all the required nutrition is covered and there is nothing weird like cutting out whole food groups but it is a bit lighter in calories and takes into account something I was told by a personal trainer about eating only protein for breakfast. It doesn't mean no carbs all day like fad diets, but he says that it is the most important fat burning time of the day next to a good night's sleep. I'll list it on the next entry, this one is getting too long.

| Oh my gosh I can relate to so much of what you have said in your posts. I started a journal this past Fall and one of the things I wrote is how I can't control alot of the things in my life (kids, work, ect.) but that I can control what I eat and how much I exercise. I also have thought so many times, "if I would only have stuck with it I would of been down to my goal weight" but like you I get inpatient because the diet isn't working fast enough and quit. Okay I'm going to really work at losing 20 pounds I'm scared but I like what I've read on this thread from you and the swimmer (sorry I'm not being rude but I can't remember your username and I don't want to retype this in case I lose it when I close it to see the thread:)Do you have a challenge partner? I need someone that will keep me accountable and ask the hard questions daily. I can take it but it is harder for me to dish it out, but I will if that is what someone wants. I've ate a good breakfast now I'm going to go and do my cardio and toning tape before I do anything else. I hope to hear from you both before tomorrow telling me about your Saturday. Have a great one!

Yes, then let's do it this time. I was told by my sister (a psychologist) that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Even though she wasn't talking about eating and exercise habits, I immediately though of that. It takes a concerted effort to beat the odds that I will wake up tomorrow and likely eat in the same way that caused me to gain these extra pounds. I've been thinking about all the things in my life that I DON'T have control over (like my kids most of the time : ), or someone close to me getting sick or dying, or my husband traveling so much of the time, or a ton of other irritating smaller things that can go wrong in a given day). What I choose to eat each day and whether I choose to watch TV or go for a walk is a choice that I make.

| I just read your last post and can relate so well with it. But just think if you had to add 15 years to dealing with weight and dieting, that's where I'm at. I will be 50 the end of October and I have at least 30 lbs. to lose. Right now I'm just having a battle with wanting to lose weight but now wanting to fail again. I could relate to so much of what you were saying in your messages about the swimming suit and wanting to move on to other areas of your life. Food, dieting is about all I ever think about. I sure could use some help.

| Would it help everyone if we choose a weigh in day each week and choose that time to discuss what went right (or occassionally wrong)? How about Fridays? The May 1st goal of twenty pounds equates to about two pounds a week. So... hopefully next Friday everyone will be able to brag on a two pound weight loss! Let's make this work. Make this the one that sticks. Think how great we will all feel this summer when the hardest part will be over and all we have to do is maintain it. I really need this to be the last time I do this diet thing. I want to move on to other more important things to focus on in my life. This weight problem has stolen enough of my time and energy. Please comment...
