Walked the last two days in 20 degree temps. Not fun but badly needed. Think I will have to look into one of those things.

| It was so cold yesterday that I cleaned the clothes rotater off (treadmill) I walked for 60 minutes and was surprised to see that I had walked 3.09 miles on it. It's not as much fun as walking outdoors though - nothing to see but the wall. The only thing that kept me motivated was I knew if I did not do my daily walk I would backslide and tomorrow would become tomorrow. Oh a tape with fast music made it seem to go faster.

Hi all, got about 2 hours of walking in today with my daughter. Was a great day in the 40's. Still struggling with the holiday excess. Got to get going in the right direction.

Thank you PeggyLee,
It took me 10 months to lose those 50 pounds. I became a vegetarian and tracked consistently. walking every day was my passion back then too. I did 100 crunches, 100 reverse crunches, thigh resistence exercises and free weights nearly every day as I did not want to end up with loose skin. I became vegetarian for ethical reasons but also had the strong intuition that the steroids and other fatteners added to animals where adding to me. Changing my lifestyle, beginning with what I ate and how much has been rewarding beyond what I had hoped for. I feel like my life got a fresh start. I wish you success.

Good for you PeggyLee! I have some of those boot chains and have tried them but found on the dry patches they were treacherous. Maybe I have a different kind, mine are like spring columns wound around the 'web' of rubber that fits over the boot sole. Anyway I got plenty of exercise and outdoor time shoveling snow this morning. We have another 6" of the wet sort so far. I plan a yoga session this afternoon.

| Morning I am just heading out for my walk, I know about walking on ice and snow.I wear boot chains,Yaks I belive they are called they sure HELP me stay on my feet and not on my back side.It is -12C today but a cold wind,so a heavy coat for sure. Have a great day and weekend!!! Peggy

Today it was 60 degrees when I looked at the thermometer out my back door. The sky was blue and sun was shining. We have had many feet of snow and lots is still around. I went for a walk anyway. I took care walking over the icy places and managed to keep my balance for the whole trek. I was reminded of how rejuvenating and energy giving, walking is for me. More snow is predicted and this time I just hope the walks get cleared sooner.
Happy New Year to you all

| Hello All! HAPPY NEW YEARS. I have been walking every day, even it the wind that tried to blow me away. I haven't posted much as over the holidays I was busy, had the grand kids for 5 days and then family. then I have been cleaning room by room in the basement. Our house has 5 bedrooms, three are down in the basement,{where the boys rooms were}. So now they hold all kind of things so every 6 months or so I do a good clean. Take care all have a great walk.Peggy

Hey Is Anybody Out There?!
I took a couple of weeks off for the Holidays. Today is my first day back on and I see no one has posted here since 12/15. Is this group still going? I have been out walking the last couple of days and play to go again today. Enjoying these mild days while they last.

Hi Mary Nan, Haven't been getting as many walks in lately. I got one in today though. It was in the 30's and not real windy so I did a little over a hour. Looks like it is going to warm up a little so I will be back to daily for a while. I don't have any inside machinery so I just wait till it warms up. Keep walking, keep warm, stay healthy!

Too cold, rainy and windy to be outside here in Detroit the last couple of days. I've been putting my time in on the treadmill or eliptical. Had to be at work at 8am today so took today off. Will get back to it tomorrow or Mon.

Hello Walkers!
We are having beautiful weather here this week. Temps in the 50's and around 60 even and fair skies. Great to be able to stay outside. snow predicted for late in the week. I hope we have a white Christmas but I've been told not to expect it for this part of MI. I spent most of my life in Iowa so have been used to lots of cold weather and snow. Today I did 30 min. on treadmill and also weight machine.

| I heard you were having nasty weather out that way, ours is just as bad the other way...we have had freezing rain for two days. The poor willow trees on our driveway are having a bad time. I think I would rather have the cold and snow it is not nice to walk in freezing rain and ice conditions. Tomorrow is supposed to be +11 so hopefully some of the ice will disappear before our walking club tomorrow night. Very unusual year for Northern Ontario.

WOW! I can't imagine encountering bears on my walk. My walks now are just around my little apartment neighborhood. When it gets too cold I go to use the treadmill in the fitness room. Lately I've been doing about three miles. Try to keep going for at least 30-45 min. and working on increasing incline to add more difficulity.
Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving!!

| Hello,I did have a problem also with bears this summer,we had a momma move in with two clubs and she made sure we know that she was around. We saw her each day around noon. This summer was the worst for bears for all most every one. My in laws had one eating each night in the oat bin. Fish n wild life came and left a bear cage but he was to big to get in,just kept setting the door down. I guess it is good thing bears sleep durning the winter. And it is winter here this weekend. Our high will be -31c with a nasy wind chill. UG! peggy

Heh, Hi to Alberta....I have the animal problem here as well in Ontario, our problem is bears....don't like meeting them either. Haven't come across any deer while walking but they like to visit our yard around 10:00 p.m. Great walking weather this week it is about 7 today and real sunny, so taking advantage of it. Good Morning from a cold and snowy day in Alberta. Just got in from one of my walks. I am having trouble with this one big buck Deer,he keeps acting like this is HIS yard and blows at me. You know I listen as I don't need his anters hitting me or my dog. I wish the rut was over and then they get scared of people again. I like walking when it is cold,it sure gets you feeling great, your face has a bit of colour. I even walk when it gets down to -30c mine you I dress for it. That is when the dog stays in the house. She is 15 years old and I don't want her walking far in the real cold. By all Peggy

Just joined in....I also started walking about 5 weeks ago. This morning our group was up to 8kms (Canada is metric)....that is about 5 miles (US.) If not someone can correct me. Trying desperately to lose weight but it is tough, found this site advertised in a magazine so I am going to give it a try. Havent't found the tracker for walking yet.

Hello Walkers! I have not been to this group for quite a while and from reading the post it looks like many of you have not either. Where is everyone? I have really been off track lately in coming to SP. Eating has not been great. NO loss in the last few weeks. Just maintaining. I have been working out either walking or doing time on the elipitical machine. My job keeps me on my feet moving around a lot so I guess that is why I haven't gained a lot

| Looking for motivation to get back on the treamill or get outside and walk. I do not have a walking partner and the walks get lonely by myself. How do you keep motivated when walking alone all the time? The TV watching while on the treadmill also gets boring for me. I need some suggestions for how to get motivated again. ANy suggestions?
