I am so inspired after reading all your posts if I were light outside I would go walking now. But since it's 11PM I think I better wait till morning. I have missed the last couple of days due to job and sick kitty. Was up very late last night then up very early this morn. with her. Got her in to vet today and got shots and meds so she should be better in a couple of days and I'll be able to sleep more normally.
I havn't counted steps at work but I feel like I go miles. Maybe I 'll get a new pedometer so I can get a true count. Don't have to work tomorrow so I'm ready to get in some real exercise.

I am embrassed to say after reading June's post that I only walked about 15 minutes at lunch today, it was too hot. The humidity is a awful.
Way to go, June.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Glory Great work out strategy! I would have to walk 11 miles each way to work - a little to far. If there was a bike trail I might give it a try - but there is not a trail. Too hot to walk today - will do it first thing in the morning! I promise! Then Sunday another 18 hole walk! DennyB

Hi everyone, good job on the walking. Welcome June. 100 miles is very impressive and your snack choices are great. I walk anywhere from 3 to 10 miles a day depending on the weather. I walk 3 times a day (after breakfast, lunch and dinner to walk off calories) I walk to the station (I go from one state to another to work) in the morning which is about 2 miles. I walk during my lunch hour (in the city)then I walk from the station home and a last walk after dinner (in the suburbs - it gives me the opportunity to meet/greet neighbors and see how everyone tends to their gardens, etc). Just started walking two weeks ago after a few years of riding in the car everywhere. I am really happy I found this forum, you are all truly an inspiration to me.

Hello I have a regular hiking backpack with a tube tent I carry. I take very little change of clothes and wash them out every night. As far as food, if I know I will be passing though a town I will pick up whole wheat french bread and laughing cow cream cheese to eat on the way and to be sure I have some left over incase the next day I do not find a store. I take nuts, dried fruit, tuna in the pouch etc. I wear regular shoes like New Balance and take a lot of treatment for blisters. Thanks for asking.

June Welcome! Your are an inspiration! I would love to be able to take a 100 milewalking adventure! You carry your provisions on your back? - I would have trouble dealing with the weight. With all the walking you do, what kind of shoes do you wear - manufacturer - make and model? Curious me... DennyB

| Wow! I am new to this website and was so thrilled to find a walking club. I love to walk and want to know if everyone walks fast, or a normal speed? Aug 15th I will be walking 100 miles with a friend. We figure it will take 9 days. I am 65 so I want to just say I did it ha ha. 5 years ago I walked 300 miles in Spain with another friend. As you can see I like the long distance. I walk daily with a couple other ladies around our park about two miles. I know I need to do more and if anyone out there has an suggestions on walking I sure would love to hear them. Good luck everyone, you all have inspired me. Your all wonderful keep up the good work and I hope I will be able to report that I am doing as well as all of you lovely people.

| Hi everyone, hope you are all still walking to get fit. I think I over did it yesterday because I walked 10 miles. I made my husband walk about 3 miles after dinner and he says he does not think he can walk today (He's not used to it and needs to lose 50 pounds) Anyway, I've walked 5 miles today and think that will be it for today (expecting rain this evening). I lost 2 lbs this past week just by counting calories and walking (minimum 10,000 steps per day) Great to be in this group. Keep up the good work, you give me must needed support.

I would love to join this group. I currently walk 2 miles each day, weather permitting, and then another 2-4 at work. Keep thinking the weight should fall off but I have become adjusted to this, I think. I just enjoy the quiet in the early morning and allows me to plan the day ahead........just a little. What a great group to be part of.

Welcome Glory and Hello everyone, haven't posted in awhile - life has been a "little" crazy... but, I'm still getting in my 3+ miles early in the AM and another mile and a 1/2 in the evening. Trying to find time for more, but this may be my limit until cooler weather. Getting my strength training done M-T-W, too. God's peace, Beth

HI All! I have not posted for a couple of days, but have been getting in some time almost every day either outside or on treadmill or elipitical. New job is taking up time. I do lots of steps at work but they are not fast enouch to be aerobic. Mostly it leaves me with aching back and shoulders.
Glad to see you are all doing so well!! The weather certainly is great and makes walking so enjoyable. See you tomorrow!!

Not to worry, we all have our good and not so good days. When I started I could only do 1 mile a day. I walked 7 miles today (yahoo), 3 in the morning before work and 4 during lunch time (1 mile per 15 min = 1 hr lunch) because it is not too hot or humid today (cannot do this everyday - depends on weather)

Welcome to our band of merry walkers, Glorytowers.
I just finished 40 minutes on the treadmill...about 2.13 miles so not very quick today. Still behind in my week's goals so need to do some serious make up tomorrow.

| Hello everyone I am new to this topic but I've walked about 3 miles a day for the past 2 weeks (since joining SparkPeople)something I never thought I could do with my bad knees. I bought a pedometer which tells me how much I walk, how long, and how many calories I burn while walking which is motivating me to walk more when the weather permits. I live in New Jersey and work in New York so my comute includes 1/2 hour walk each way (to/from the stations.) Reading your postings is very encouraging. Thanks and keep up the good work.

| San Fran is quickly moving up on my list of favorite places. We love Cape Cod and New England, we also enjoy Tucson - Oh, and Sarasota. But there is so many options in San Fran. On this visit we spent two days in Napa and Sonoma, a couple of days around Monterey - Played Spanish Bay at Pebble Beach, then three days in San Fran - even got a chance to play Olympic Club. What a treat! There must be three or four different climates you can go to on any given day - even a couple different climates if you just stand still! But what a beautiful country - even when it is all dry from lack of rain! My son is an artist - we were there for his exhibition at the Quay gallery near 6th and Folsom. It is nice to get away for a few days!

Kicked off my week with 4.32 miles and 513 calories burned.
Dennis, you are doing really well as the bionic man! How was San F? I love that city.

I am trying to walk every day now. The weather is so beautiful, it is hard to pass up those early morning or sunset walks! Have walked the past three days - 3.4 miles, 1.2 miles and 2 miles today. I have been able to get my speed up to a little over 4 miles per hour - or a about a 14.5 minutes per mile rate. I can not jog or run on my new hip - ever, but the doc says I can walk all I want - and as fast as I can. And yes, kayak - you certainly can paddle and stay on this thread! DIETCRAZED - Yes, I think I did get your email - but things have been so hectic since I returned from my week in San Fran, that I will have to check again! DennyB

Thanks Beth,Shawna, and Mary Nan,for the support and advice. Yesterday was the first in a while that I ate well(no junk foods). Today I got my 3 mile walk in and it was hot but I felt more at ease when I got back. I picked a hand full of blueberry's from my bushes as I walked up my drive for on my oatmeal today. Tasted great! Going to see my mom now. May today be a great day for you all, and hope everyone gets in a good walk.
