What a beautiful day in Michigan today! The best in about a month!
I went on a 2 mile walk with my camera thru the subdivision at 7:30am. Took all kinds of photos of "spring" and the awakening of nature. After 2 weeks of rain, everything sure woke up! Will try to post some of the best to my spark gallery - afterall, it is SPRING!!

Hi All! It was a rather warm 93* when I got home from school this afternoon so I waited until after 8:00 to go walking. Then it was very pleasant. Got in 45 min. with no problem.

Nice alternative plan - lunch break walking! Because of my stiff hip, I try to walk for 5 min each hour - I take a short walk in our parking lot at work. Was able to get in 5, 5 min. walks and one 10 min. at lunch. You have to do what you can in the time you have!
Hope all the flooding out your way has not caused you or your family harm... New England is our favorite part of the US!

Got 3 miles between the rain. I believe Dennis's cold wet weather has made PA.

My goal is to get up an hour earlier and walk in the morning. I set the clock to go off earlier this morning - just couldn't get out of bed! I've got to do better - I CAN DO THIS! I've been smober 21 days, managed to lose 11 lbs, surely I can drag my sorry butt out of the bed...

I have a goal to walk at lunch.
This week I was able to walk 20 minute Tuesday, 20 minutes Wednesday and 40 minutes on Thursday.
If it is not raining I will get out at lunch again.

Got my round of golf in yesterday - walked 9 of the 18 holes and my legs felt strong all the way.
Did a two mile walk today in the cool afternoon air.

Well I am feeling a bit guilty. Did not walk today. I guess it must be getting to be a habit. Will have to get out tomorrow.

Wow - you sure are an exercise freak! LOL
Glad I could be of service on your continued road of torture.

Actually, your post is very inspirational. It shows that with the proper attitude and will power, we all can do just a little bit more then we are already doing - you are the living proof.

Today I hope it stops raining long enough for me to get a nice round of golf in - I intend to walk all I can - let my partner drive and carry my clubs on the cart.

Dennis: thanks for the suggestion of using this website. I have set up 10 core, 10 lower and 10 upper body exercises and will rotate through 5 at a time. I did 5 core tonight and can just get off the floor to write this note. I am in the final week of my healthwalkers walking competition and must do 44 miles this week. I have parked my car 2 blocks further from the office and it has rained every day. The weatherman is not helping add the miles. I have walked to the mall on my lunch and walked around the empty halls in the area that has offices there where they also play music for motivation to go a little faster. Then this evening I did my last 2 miles while walking/jogging while watching American Idol.

What a gorgeous day to be outside! I did 45 min. tonight. Tried a different route and tackled a couple of big hills. They really got my heart pumping so I hope that meant lots of calories burned.

Haven't seen a post from Tracup in several days. Hope her move is going smoothly.

Dennis ~
I like the updated photo - very nice.
I'm full of good intentions and want to walk early in the morning, but like the others, have trouble rolling out of bed any earlier than I already do. Will have to as the temps rise, but for now I'm an evening walker.
God's peace,
beth

Was running late getting ready for work this morning. Was going to skip my morning walk - then decided to do a "quick step" walk for the 15 minutes I had left before leaving for work. I guess something is better than nothing.

Hello Walkers! I like to walk in the mornings too, but find it hard to get up that hour early. So I am enjoying the evening just as much. When it get hot in the summer I will make myself get up and get out early. Tonight I kept going for over 45 min.. It seems to be helping with the whole program.

At least it ins't raining today!

Hey, sparkie has all the suggestions in the world - just go to the Resource Center tab at the top of this page, then hit Fitness once you are there. You can see all kinds of exercises - sparkie breaks them into core, lower, and upper body. I really like the fitness section because when you click on an exercise, it kicks into a little semi-video example of the exercise. This site is fantastic.

Hi Dennis: I too enjoy getting part of my exercise over early; I usually do exercise with Carabbean workout on tv from 6 - 6:30 each morning. Dennis good luck working your way to 199 (sounds like a Walmart pricing)I just decided to increase my effort to do the strengh training as suggested on Sparks. I did 5 upper body today. I am still determining a way to circulate through core, upper and lower body through the week. Any suggestions out there?

Welcome to the walking club thread! Glad to have a fellow "sufferer" of this "40 days of rain" storm that is stuck in the upper midwestern USA and Canada.

I just returned from a little trip to Cleveland with my wife - to wish her 88 yr. old mom "Happy Mother's Day" and spend some time with her family.
Did a little one hour walk around my mother-in-laws's neighborhood early this morning - before anyone awoke. I feel good about morning walks - getting my aerobics out of the way first thing - makes the whole day go so much better! Good walking to you all!

Hi all: I live in Ontario Canada and it is not near 70s as I am reading from Texas & NC; it started out raining this morning so I did my first half hour walking to music on the country station on tv; then I played my first game of lawn bowling in 2 years this afternoon under an overcast sky where it was too cool with my jacket off and too warm with it on. Finished my last 1/2 hr walk this evening while walking my dog with a FM station on my walkman moving right along to a guitar special. Music has helped me pump out 5 miles today. Yay; Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms.
Good evening.

Hi Everybody! It was windy and cool here again today. -- Omaha NE. Only got up to about 60. That's a bit cooler than normal. Tomorrow is susposed to be cool and rainy again. So I did my walk indoors again. I feel good that at least I got up moving for almost an hour. It has been sort of a lazy day. Waiting anxiously for June and sunshine.

Good afternoon everyone
It was a lovely morning here in NC, close to 70, got my walk in early before the afternoon het and humidity kicks in. Rain tomorrow - I'm going to miss my walk... Strength exercises, yuck! But it's part of the program, so I'll stick with 'em.
God's peace,

Good morning everyone!
The scene outside my window has not changed in three days - cold, damp, drizzly Michigan weather. More like early April then mid May. Hope the plants and flowers appreciate this! Think I will give my hip a rest today after 4 days of walking, time for a time out.
See ya tomorrow on the trail!

Got my walk in tonight. It is getting easier to go longer. Tonight I walked for an hour and even made it to the top of the big hill. That one leaves me winded. It was a beautiful day here even with all the wind so being outside was very pleasant.

Morning to all! I've been having a yard sale, so haven't gotten on here much. But, I have been getting my 3 miles every day, except for the weekend. Dropped another lb, didn't think it'd ever come off.
Not real good at sticking to a diet. I try, but my inner child always wins out.
EAch day a new one, and we'll try again today.
Just wish I could get a little more disciplined.
You all have a good day!

Hi guys and gals too; I have some serious walking to do the next three days to make this week's numbers for my survival on Healthwalkers; but the rain has reached our part of the country too. I just did a mile with the DVD and I park my car further away from the office every day. At this rate I will soon be leaving it home and walking all the way to work. No that can't happen; I live 10 km from the office. They have locked the doors from the stairwell to my floor at the office so I have to take the elevator and I was just getting in shape with the stair climbing. I have been walking 1/2 hour of my lunch hours this week at a pace of 15 miles then another mile with my dog after dinner each evening. The rain can go anytime but it appears it will be around until next Wednesday or so.
Good evening.
