Good morning. I agree: the weight comes on fast but it sure hangs on like superglue! I was trying to figure out all the numbers yesterday - nutrients I should have, things I should stay low on (like carbs and cholesterol) and I started to feel crazy! I think I'm going to pick about 4 things and concentrate on them. Don't know about anyone else, but I just don't have the patience to juggle all the numbers. Let's hear it for the over 50 crowd. We are waging the "battle of the bulge" and giving it a good fight!

Hey there,
The weight sure came on fast at the end of peri-meno (for me anyway) and now it's tough to get it off again. Healthy eating has been tough for me lately. Portion control is my problem. Knowing what to do is one thing, but managing cravings is another.
Good luck to all!

Hope everyone is having a happy Monday! I am very low on patience too. I had a 1/2 pound loss this week and I'm really happy about that. I keep praying for patience because I know slow and steady wins the race - still it is hard. Anyone have any good ideas for just staying focused on the day we are livng in?

| you are so right about the patience. I'm 56 and my patience wears thin real fast

| You left out two important elements in your "how to"- time and patience. I'm 57, and I've lost about 50 pounds. But, it took a long time, and it took a lot of patience, both of which are in short supply for most of us... so be aware, be forewarned, and just do it. You'll like the end result- I sure do.

| I'm 56 and find that if i don't exercise everyday with some really good intensity, I don't lose any weight at all!

| I go to curves at least 3 times a week most of the time I go 6 days a week. I love the circuit. I am 56 years old and have been stuck at the same weight for the last 6 years. It's coming off now a few pounds at a time.

It really gets to be a challenge trying to lose weight after you hit 50. I am 58 and have struggled to lose weight over the last 8-9 years. I also did WW -- several times -- but it just doesn't work for me. Too much emphasis on staying within a point range but not enough on making sure the food I'm selecting is right for me. I have a double whammy because I have hypothyroidism. It took me 4 years and 2 drs. to get one to agree to do the simple bloodtest for thyroid function. When they finally did, there it was - no thryroid function at all anymore. Taking daily Synthroid has helped but I've found cutting back on CARBS is a big part of answer for me. The other is exercise. I'm walking 4+ times per week now. I still struggle but at least I'm seeing some drop in weight. I've just accepted that it's going to be 1/2-1 lb per week if I stick to my plan. Good luck to you. SparkPeople is a great site with lots of excellent tools.

I turn 50 this year and hope to lose 50lbs by then (October 23, the plan seems to think this is possible) I will take any loss and enjoy it! Have been doing WW but plateaued so I need a new inspiration. I love the trackers here. DD1

It's called exercise and eating right. It's been a real struggle. It seems the weight just keeps coming on after 50. With support from my husband and others on this site, I intend to make it work. Thanks to all of you out there winning your weight battles and giving incouragement. We'll all be winners!
