Dear Rebecca: Thank you for your words of encouragement. I never realized how much better I would feel not doing a fad diet but actually eating balanced meals. I am eating veggies and carbs only for breakfast and lunch and only 5 ounces of protein for supper which is amazing and new for me. For the first time last night I chose my protein to be half beans and half meat (2.5 ounces) and I feel stronger than I have ever felt before. I appreciate your taking the time to write me a note. Way to go OldAngel! This is exactly the right attitude and path to success. When I started I took the same approach with a walk around the block and kept track of how many days-in-a-row I walked. It has now become a healthy habit and will for you too. Keep up this great Progress!!

Today is a good day! I began a few weeks ago with lung problems, two knee replacements, arthritis and a weight of 294. I could not walk for any distance but was committed to begin. At first 10 minutes was all I could do. Seventeen days later I have actually worked up to 30 minutes for the very first time...3900 steps on my pedometer! I feel proud and happy...I have not missed a single day yet and although it has been grueling, day by day I am able to walk just a little more. I began at 2.2 mph and am up to 2.5 mph. It took me the better part of a lifetime to become this unfit so I am willing to be patient and persevere in order to gain a new level of fitness at 60. I deserve this and I will not quit.
