Hi I must make a comment...about the coffee. I was advised not to think of coffee or any other caffeinated beverages as a substitute for water. Caffeine dehydrates.
The owner/trainer/dietitian of my gym when in my first session evaluating my eating habits added up all my coffee and deducted it from the water. It certainly made me think about how much coffee I drank, my fluid intake was a negative for that day.

A couple of thoughts on exercising: There are several easy cardio and strength exercises on the fitness pages, such as a calf lift with chair. these things can be done without a set program, in the am stand behind your chair and perform exercise takes a couple of minutes. If you have stairs at home walk up and down a couple of times and then add etc. As for water, if it is handy you will drink it. Put bottles at strategic areas in the house. You don't have to drag a bottle around with you. Even coffee has water you may be drinking enough already. Good luck. It is only a choice and you have to make it.

| IVE GOTTEN SO SICK OF THE STRUGGLE. yOU KNOW, IVE TRIED THIS AND THAT, BUT ALL IT BOILS DOWN TO IS THAT IM THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN CHANGE THESE PROBLEMS. WELL, ACTUALLY THAT'S GOOD. I GUESS THAT OTHERWISE ID SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE LOOKING FOR THE MAJIC BULLIT. I GUESS THAT IT SIMPLY FALLS BACK TO ME. I GUESS THAT WITH SOME POSITIVE SELF TALK, AND MY EYE ON THE PRIZE, I AM THE ONE WHO CAN DO IT.

They are correct you should just take baby-steps. It took me a while to get used to using all the tools. I found all the articles wonderful. Good Luck, Deana

| Thank you, Bonnie. I've never been a big water drinker. It's not that i dislike it, it's just something i only drink if i happend to me real thirsty or something like that. I know there are some changes i probably need to make and i'm sure that exercising would make all the difference in the world for me. I just have to get off my butt and do something..lol

| Thank you for your input. I honestly think that my biggest problem isn't the eating but is definitely the lack of exercise. I actually have a lifetime membership to Balley's gym and i think i can count on one hand how often i've actually gone. I don't really mind the exercising. I just always feel so awdward when i am there. What i think would help me alot is if i had an exercise partner who would go with me. Unfortunately, i don't have anyone to do that with. Again..the lack of motivation even though the want is there.

Jeannie, I have the same advice, start small, "baby steps". Pick one thing, like getting enough water in a day and work on it until it becomes a habit. Then move on to something else. I was overwhelmed at first, but even Spark suggests the same advice. And I know it works. I have been here for over a year--working through all my obstacles-- and it is working--slowly, but I didn't gain all this weight overnight either!
Good luck to you and keep in touch, Bonnie

| I did that at first. I think once you "just do it" and start implementing the smallest change - it becomes addictive. Try to do just one thing today and see how it goes. Good luck!!

| Well here i sit just finishing a small bowl of homemade Kale soup which i probably shouldn't have had. But it was sooo good. This is so hard for me. I'm really not an overeater..that's for sure. If anything, I don't really eat alot of anything all day. I joined this site and filled in and out things on here but haven't done a darn thing with any of it yet. Is there anyone out there like me? I'd be happy to hear from you.
