| I understand that we make a choice on which adds to check out and which to pass on, but I WAS disappointed to see an add for a weight loss patch here last week. It just doesn't seem right.

I just about had pizza last night.. but i looked up on the pizza websites and looked how many fat and caleries there were in 1 piece... it's not worth eating for as many caleries in it. (went to mcdonalds had grilled chicken salad, and fruit and yogurt salad)

| HA! What about the big ol' ad I just saw for Hoodia EFX?! All the talk about diet pills being bad, blah, blah, blah, and there's an ad for them on here.

"Also, the banner ad that says how many calories did you have for breakfast today? obviously has a Ben & Jerrys ice cream carton - one of my weaknesses! "
^^ This ad has always cracked me up - who eats ice cream for breakfast?? :)

| I don't see a huge problem with the ad. It's all about choices and control, which everyone with a weight problem needs to face. Will I choose to eat an entire large cheese, sausage and pepperoni pizza or 2 slices of veggie pizza? Will I skip the pizza and have some grilled chicken and veggies instead? Will I save up enough calories today so that I can enjoy a couple pieces of pizza without the guilt? It's life. We have to learn to make choices.

Anyway, we do have to take responsibility for ourselves and our impulses. Yeah, this site shouldn't have pizza or McDonalds ads but you also shouldn't blame your binge on seeing something that you see all over the media every day. If it really made you binge, then you should seek help from a doctor.

I guess "Welcome to the real world" We will be bombarded with all kinds of ads in eveyday life, even people trying to get us to "eat just one, just try one!" we have to learn to make the right decisions, to be able to eat the right things and to be able to say either "no thank you" or just take a small piece. It's all about healthy decisions.

| A REAL pizza and I mean the real deal....isn't what American pizza is like. It is not loaded with all the cheese and pepperoni and other crap that we have created here. I am American but I have eaten at an authentic pizza eatery and the crust is thin and they don't cut it into squares or triangles. They use the freshest of ingredients in small portions. You actually tear the pizza with your fingers and eat it. IT WAS SO GOOD and so low cal!!! I wish I lived in Santa Barbara where the eatery was...I would eat there once a week!!!

| I couldn't believe it the first time I saw the ad, either! Definitely not what I needed to be seeing, since Papa John's is my fav!!!!

Yes CURVES I did find it....thanks and what you wrote here does make sense. Thanks for taking time to explain your reasoning. I haven't tried the recipe yet, and I won't til way after the holiday is over.

SMYLEERED,
So you found the pizza crust recipe?
(Just checking, 'cause I can post it here if not...)
Someone commented, and wrote the following:
"Sounds real good, but you need to revise the Number of servings. So it will show the true about of Calories"
I just wanted to say that the reason I did not do this is because it's just dough in and of itself. Not really a 'pizza' yet. I wanted to know the nutrition information for the entire dough recipe, so I could enter that into my *manually entered foods* (only because you can't add a recipe to a recipe's ingredients list), and then add that manually entered food into any pizza recipes I made with the dough. Then it could be split into 'portions' from there.
Hope that makes sense! :)

Hey everyone! If you look under a topic called pizza advertisements under the site/technical thread, you will find some post between Coach Jen and I and she has removed pizza ads for us. I just click on the ad, right click to save the address and post it on that thread and she has been super about getting them removed. She agrees that this is not the type of ad Spark wants! Just thought you all might be interested!! Take care! Laura

| I use flatout bread for my pizza crust. It's only 90 calories and full of fiber. You can buy it at walmart in the deli section. Check out their website. www.flatoutbread.com

Darn if I could find that recipe.... Could you give me the url please? TY
I found this one called Whole Wheat Veggie Pizza: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/recipes.asp?category=3&recipe=6992
Couple mins later I found your recipe for the crust it's in the new section of recipes....I forgot we have to go to a different place for the recipes we submit: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com

Curves 'N Curls, thank you for sharing that info. I am going to look at your recipe right now!
It's kind of hard to find a good whole wheat pizza crust recipe. I wish more fast food chains would be responsive to the many people who would like that as an option.

I made a decently healthy pizza on Sunday... It's only 360-ish calories for two pieces.
It's on sparkrecipes.com under:
"Veggie Pizza on Whole Wheat Crust with Feta and Mozzarella Cheeses"
(it's vegetarian).
You can also use the pizza dough (whole wheat) recipe I shared to make your own healthy creation! :)

| Why does anything that tastes so good have to be bad on a daily basis or in larger quantities? Why can't celery taste as good as a slice of pizza dripping with cheese?
|
|
|
|
| Why does Pizza have to be sooooo many calories, carbs, fat, etc etc? Just thinking out loud...sorry.

| Papa John's does better at sabotaging my weight loss efforts than most, with their online ordering and coupons. It really is hard to eat something healthy instead of that.

| I wouldn't wish being a food aholic on anyone but it gives me comfort knowing others share my plight.

| I totally know what you mean. I cannot eat just one piece of pizza or chocolate. I bought some mini Snickers yesterday. I ate all of the by myself. I kept thinking I should have not even bought them but they were staring at me. I could not resist. I am the same way when Pizza comes into the house. I must be a food aholic......Sp HELP!@
|
|
|
|
I hear ya....commercials on tv are buggers too. I cannot have a piece of candy in the house especially chocolate. I would go hogwild. My husband can't figure out why I want him to lock up his chocolate candy bars LOL. I'm serious though. I never craved chocolate until a few years ago, and before SP I used to go the store and buy a small bag of those miniature bars, and while I watched TV eat the whole dang bag. NOW, I can't even eat ONE or I would go on a binge. We're alike in that respect.
Alcoholics-chocoholics-caffeine addicts are all the same I guess. Better to just stay away from it totally when just one is not enough.
Have a great day and thanks for the in-put.

| Sticking to 1 piece is my problem. I was fine not wanting any pizza then I saw that ad and started craving it. Maybe after a few years I'll be able to eat it and stick to 1 serving, but not now. I don't trust myself. I'm like an alcoholic, once I start eating it I can't stop until it's gone.

There's a pretty good list of Papa John's Pizza varieties in our food tracker so I guess as long as pizza exists there will be ads for it.
I'm not exactly THE most successful weight loss person in SP, but we have to remember that not everybody gives up pizza forever when getting and staying healthy. The trick is sticking to one serving. If you can do that, it's not too harmful. And you can always balance out your carbs and calories with the rest of the food you eat for that day.
Just my opinion of course!

Hmm... clicked on the topic and there was the ad for the Sausage Sensation Pizza which you can order online.
Oh well, looks like Papa Johns is wasting a portion of their advertising budget.

Hi,D
We'll look into that. We don't always see or approve every ad on the site before it appears, if it comes in from an ad service. But we'll try to get it removed ASAP.
Hope this helps

| Yesterday there was an ad for Papa Johns-order online it's easy. Something like that. Anyway, that's the last thing I want to see when I'm trying to eat healthy. I don't need the temptation. It wasn't even one of those ad banners at the top. It was smack dab in the middle.
