I hear you! I feel S.A.D. if I don't get outdoors and exercise daily. I need to go to outdoor water aerobics and/or walk every day. If I have to work I go for a 30 to 60 minute walk before work. If I have to I go at 7 am.

| Yes. It has become part of my daily routine to walk everyday and don't want to change that. I do remember when I had to force myself to form this healthy habit and am glad I did that.

Hi, Everyone,
I'm back after being away from SP for nearly 6 months. I just couldn't get into the program of regular exercise. But now that spring has arrived in New England (finally!), I am ready to begin again. And I just found this list, which looks like a great place to share encouragement.
My most frequent exercise has been walking, either outdoors or indoors with the "Walk Away the Pounds" tapes. However, last fall something went wrong with my knee, and walking became painful. I've worked hard to get my knee back into shape (the doctor says it is arthritis, but I doubt that since I can heal it with Arnica cream, gentle stretching and massage), but I messed it up again last month walking on a wooded path.
They've just installed sidewalks along the road I live on, and there is a railtrail nearby, so I'll use those for walking and see how the knee does.
Keep up the good work, everyone!

| I have been walking alot outside at lunch when its not raining and most days I walk on my treadmill. I especially enjoy walking on the treadmill while watching dancing with the stars and the other show I like is American Idol. I also walk through the amazing race and desparate Housewives. On the commercials I like to do suduko puzzles - they keep my mind of the clock. I would like to loose 10 lbs by May 26th. 2007. I have a party to go to. good luck to everyone on your challenges

| I know it sounds strange, but now I find it hard to skip a day, and I think that may be counterproductive to my purpose. I skipped yesterday (for Easter) and it just felt strange. But, I am hoping that it may surprise my body into losing weight again.

I try to walk at least 30 minutes each day on the treadmill - cardiologist's mandate - but I try to vary it by time, incline or speed - not exactly the same routine every day. My hardest thing is getting up early to do it - I teach middle school so by the end of the day I'm beat, and walking on the treadmill is not always what I want to do. Have a good week, everyone. I started using the programs on my treadmill. I have found them so much harder than anything I had been doing on the treadmill; they really kicked my butt, literally! When I got off, my bottom really hurt. At least I know the workout is working!
|
|
|
|
| Today I walked outside and did the biggest loser workout consisting of warm up, strength training and sculpting and cool down.

| I use the treadmill every day of the week and now I am starting to think that that is why I am on this plateau. I know I need to change up my exercise routine, but can't think of other exercises that I will really want to do after the first time. I am in a rut and can't get out!

| I love to walk since I bought my new walking shoes. You can get them at MBT.com or the Naturalizer shoe store. I have had heal pain, but not with these shoes. They were designed from watching Africans walking barefoot on the sand. The cushion is such that you feel like you are walking on the sand and the muscles needed to do that get a good workout! I have disco music on my ipod which keeps me moving happily and is my motivation. It is a good time to be alone and enjoy my space. The breeze is great even when the temperature is hot, the air feels good on my persperrated face. I love to swim also, or bike ride. I am 56 and stiff if I don't exercise.

| Well, as much as I don't like execise, I have established the habit of going home every day after work, getting on my treadmill and watching Oprah. She has taken me on quite a journey. I have walked over 500 miles on my treadmill!

| I don't understand how anyone can LIKE exercise! To me it is a necessary evil and I guess I am never going to enjoy it. To me it is just hard work!

I have always enjoyed exercising, working outside, and being active. Now, I still am VERY overweight.
That said, I am currently doing 60 minutes of low impact aerobics 3 times a week with ankle and wrist weights. Then I do 60 minutes with wrist weights 3 days a week. So I'm a 6 day a week person, but I have been exercising for my whole life and really like it.
I use the weights while doing the aerobics because I hate doing the weights alone:-)

| I took two fifteen minute walks outside during work, one hour on the treadmill and an hour working outside in my yard (pine pollen be hanged!). I feel pretty proud of the workout I got yesterday!
|
|
|
|
| An hour of walking is sufficient for me, as of now.

I wish we could get some rain here to knock down all the pine pollen. It's just crazy this year. I can't wait til I can breathe again! Thank goodness for treadmills! Keep up the good work. Claire

| The pine pollen down here is unbearable this year, making exercising outside impossible. I usually use the treadmill anyway, but even that has been difficult because my breathing has been so affected by the pollen. I only lasted 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday. I had to tell myself that I would do better today. I hope I am right!

| Sounds like we have parallel lives! My one co-worker is on the verge of becoming diabetic, she had surgery for sleep apnea, and has a family history of weight related problems. I wish I could will her to have some success. I know she is thinking about doing it, but it may just seem too overwhelming to her.

| Funny that you should say visualize. Each time I hit a new pound on the scale, I celebrate for about a minute and then begin to visualize the next lower number. I swear, it keeps me focused!

Yes it has been a wonderful journey!! I have learned so much!! You will do it!! I just feel it. Iam off to work , will check in on breaks and lunch. Have a great day. Rember to stay focused on what you want and visualize what you will look, feel and act when you get there Hugs Linda
