Hey Linda--haven't heard from you in a couple of days--hope everything is OK??
I thought the tightness in throat was gone but it is back today--my head feels full--
Sears coming today to check out the treadmill---my 3 yr maintenance contract is up on the 24th and its double to renew it so not going to do it but having them come in today to go over it---of course the window is between 8-5--so went out yesterday and did groceries so I wouldn't have to go out today--want to be here when they come--
Again--hope all is ok and will wait to hear from you--

Hi Linda---I don't feel very good today---have a sligh sore throat and headache and I didn't get out of bed until 10 and now the hot flashes are coming fast and furious---its so wonderful getting older!!!!!! I think I will stay off the treadmill today and give myself a rest/veg day--always have my parents over for dinner on Wednesdays but I cancelled it this morning--just not in the mood to cook for me let alone them--they will have to eat out tonite!!!! I am sure by tomorrow I will have my energy back and rearing to go again--
You had a great day yesterday--the first day back is always the hardest but it always seems to fall into place and we get back into routines easily--
Lunch and dinner sounded wonderful---and I know what you mean by having someone on the couch in the living room---when our children come that is where they sleep--the couch opens and the air mattresses--I just give it up for 10 days--the only thing I try to keep clean is the kitchen and bathroom--just love having them here--
Having my first cup of coffee---think breakfast and lunch will get combined today---not very hungry--lost another .3 ounces so far this week and tomorrow is my 1 month date that I started on SP and I was hoping for 10 pds but I don't think it will happen but would like to make it to 7 at least---do ya think I can get .4 off of me today????
Ok---I don't know about you but I have 14 e-mails from SP---I look for yours first and then most of them I just delete---I would be on this all day if I didn't--
Hope you are having a great day----Roz

Hi Roz - yesterday went fine except for the exercise bit, but I tried to be more active in my classroom. Our luncheon was beautiful and the food worked well - I had a serving of chicken salad that was fantastic - very light dressing, not heavy at all, mixed salad, one small homemade dinner roll, my green tea, and no dessert - the cakes were to die for, but I just didn't think they were worth it!
Last night we had guests for dinner, but I ordered in Greek salads to go (I topped mine with spritzer dressing) and made homemade pizzas with the Boboli thin crust. One was veggie with green and red peppers, onions, and fresh mushrooms. The other was turkey pepperoni. They were great and not as heavy as those we would have eaten out. 3 sugar-free peeps for dessert. Can't weigh this morning as one guest stayed overnight and I usually weigh in the kitchen early in the morning and he's sleeping in the livingroom, right next door on the sofa bed. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
Maybe I will be diet cycling this week just because of life!
Have a good day - talk to you later - Linda

Linda--No matter what time I go to sleep 3:30 comes and then it is off and on from there---my husband leaves for work at 3ish and I guess I just know that he is not here--and thats the end of the solid sleep--
One of the reasons why I have the Nutrisystem bars around is just for things like today---your luncheon---can slip one in your purse and use it.
I usually grocery shop on Friday and Thursday is empty the frig day and I tell you no lie when I say that people could eat very well off of what I get rid of every week--if my mother knew--she would have a stroke for sure.
Scale hasn't moved for me since Saturday but that's ok---it will and I feel skinner if thats possible and I am sure that exercise has something to do with it.
All the housework is done---not very much when you only have a 1/1--I can do it all including washing the floors in 2 hours and with only the 2 of us here--it stays pretty good except we are on the water and I swear the air here is 'black'--and I could wash our terrace floor everyday and it would still be black--I almost look forward to turning on the air and closing the hurricane shades to keep some of it out.
Only thing on my calendar today is to exercise--easy day for me!!!!
Hope your grind isn't too bad today---the kids probably don't want to be there as much as you!!!
Talk to you later---Roz

Hi Roz - had a little trouble sleeping last night so snuck an extra hour or so instead of getting up to walk on the treadmill - felt like the sleep was something I couldn't make up later in the day, but I can definitely make myself walk (I hope!) later.
I read for a while last night instead of finishing lesson plans, etc. - it felt like a bit of a mini-vacation - today starts the grind again - no more long weekends until the end of May.
Today is the teacher's luncheon, so I think I'll eat light this morning (a banana, glass of milk) in anticipation of what I need to be careful about eating.
I may take some veggies and fruit back-ups in case I need them.
Have a great day - we have someone spending the night so I'm going to have to straighten up here in the kitchen - plus its garbage day and I promised myself I'd go through the refrigerator and get rid of anything halfway awful.
Have a great day and I'll talk to you later.
Oh - the scale wavered a little this morning - I think it wanted to go to 158# - maybe tomorrow! Linda

Hi Linda---I never thought anyone bought those robots but I guess they do and they work---what is this world coming to when you don't have to vac yourself!!!!!!!
Sounds like you got a lot done at school today---before you know it the end of the year will be here--I think its our age---time is flying---
I had soup also for lunch but I bought Progresso 50% less sodium and its very good--I was eating the others and the sodium difference is a lot and I had 2 Wasa Crispbreads and a mac apple also---
Had a 6 oz sirloin pork chop with 2/3 cup of butternut squash and 14 (small) asparagus spears for dinner and I still have 200 calories left to reach 1300 and I have 1384 for today---maybe have an orange later and I also have Nutrisystem chocolate bars for 130 cal each
My hubby loves those spritzer salad dressings also---I try to use a spritz of olive oil and balsamic vinegar---but I hate making salads--I don't know why---just hate it---so most of our salads we eat out---
Have a good day tomorrow at school---let me know how it goes--

Hi Roz - just got back home from school and shopping - went through one of the closets in my room and threw away stuff ahead of time (before the end of the year) - 3 garbage bags worth - very heavy - and rearranged the shelves in another closet. Just think how great it would be if I work on it 15 minutes a day (one of those sneaky goals in the back of my mind- trying to get myself organized).
We (even my mom) love our irobot - it zips around the floors and does an awesome job - the first time we used it, we sent it out two more times because we were horrified at how much it picked up that our other very expensive vacuum cleaner didn't. It recharges pretty quickly - I'm going to send it to the bathroom in a few minutes, the bring it into the kitchen and utility room before I go to bed. It even has a little blue light to indicate when there's heavy soil - kind of like a K-Mart Blue Light special.

Had a can of Campbells Healthy Request Chunky Vegetable Beef soup for lunch with some healthy crackers (weighed, naturally), and a macintosh apple.

Since yesterday was a light day, I'll try to eat a little more today - woo-woo - I did pick up some new salad dressing spritzers today - I love those - and they don't have a lot of calories.

Off to do some planning and quiz writing - talk to you soon - Linda

EXCUSE ME??????----you gotta be kidding---a robot vacuum--do they really work???? I just washed the bathroom floor on my hands and knees that has to be work something????---was just dusting this room and couldn't resist pushing the button---I won't get on the treadmill until 11---I cannot get on unless something keeps me interested and even if I am not done doing whatever I will still stay on for at least 45 min today--
Found a zig-zag website from google and their #'s for me were very equal to freedieting #'s on the ex fat loss column--
I had breakfast---Kashi cereal with strawberries and 2% milk---but I use Hood carb Countdown milk because it has much less sugar and carbs in it than regular milk--I use to be able to buy the fat free one but I cannot find it anymore--
Ok off to tackle the bedroom---talk later---Roz

Hi Roz - I agree - I keep reading and learning and thinking - this is like being in a candy shop with a $50 bill!

Just finished treadmill (1/2 an hour with increasing incline) and strength building exercises (ooh, I seem to not want to do those, but I know how good they are for me)

Just sent the robot vacuum cleaner on its way to clean the living room and hall.

Today, I think I'm going to alternate school/housework/me all day - it's nice having an additional day off and there is no way I'm ready to go back today.

Enjoy your coffee - I've already indulged in mine, and am planning on having some tea as a reward later.

See ya! Linda

OK Linda--I read it again with my eyes open but no coffee yet---my ex fat loss compared to just fat loss figures are like 200+ higher and yesterday I had to eat 1509 and I was full and still eating just to get it in and I don't want to do that---my "high" on fat loss is 1811 (are they kidding) I would explode!!!! and the low is 1384--on the ex fat loss the high is 1661 and the low is still 1384---I cannot do 1800 calories in a day---I would be eating all day long just to get the calories in and feel full all the time--so I am going to try the ex fat loss column this week and see how it goes---
my high day is wednesday ---saturday is 1523 and the rest is 1384--also CC--the girl from Japan that told me about cycling had said to me that going 100 either way is ok but that 300 either way is much too much---
You know, I could spend all day of this computer reading and researching all of this---drives me nuts---but I wouldn't get anything done---I have to vac and dust today and then treadmill--and will put in time for the housework---its gotta count for something!!!!
Congrats on getting back down--could have been water weight---I am almost afraid to get on today---not sure that I will---don't want to be disappointed--maybe wait until tomorrow---
I think the sun is out here--haven't looked yet--suppose to get warm again middle of the week---there goes the air again--hate turning that on--
Ok---pill time then coffee and then breakfast---then the housework--
Talk later---Roz

Hey Roz, check out this article I found on zig-zag dieting - I like what it says in theory, but 500 over and under is too much for me because my levels at SP and every where else are at the 1200-1500 suggested range - if I'm operating at a 1300 calorie level then I can go up and down around a lower amount, like 100 or 150. I know that I need at least 1200 for metabolism and I don't want to go below that. 1500 on a regular basis seems way too high for me. Maybe this would work for jump-starting, though - like it says in the article about reaching a plateau.
I also like the four days on, 2 days off - that can work if I make it into 5 days on, 2 days off and kind of works with the 80% 20% thinking. What do you think? Linda

Woo-woo - the scale is back to 158.5# - hooray - I meant to go back and change my weight yesterday but never got around to it - now I don't have to - yeah!

I was going to use the fat loss figures but I know there may be some days I will have a hard time getting in all those calories - I wondered if it would work to go 1200 (+ or - 50), 1350, 1450, and then cycle back - 1450 sounds like a lot for me normally. I'll keep track and really write down what I eat this week and see how it goes. Today I plan to eat a little more than yesterday's 1200 - but I wonder if a 1200, 1300, 1400, 1200, 1200, 1300, 1400 would work - if just varying the number of calories is what it takes - who knows?
I'm going to read a little more on zigzag dieting - another name for it - today and see what other nutritionists say.
I'm willing to get off my 1200-1300 goal for a while, though.
This morning it is raining softly - won't affect my treadmill, but could keep me inside later on.
We've been going to our city parks to ride bikes - just putting them in the back of the truck and finding ones that have trails. My goal for April is for us to try 5-6 of them.
Today I have to grade and plan - tomorrow there's school and I'm not ready yet, but I will be.
Coffee is calling - yum - more later, Linda

Sounds like you had a great day--also sounds like you are in the country to be able to ride like you do---there is no where around here to do that the cars aim for you---it wouldn't be safe at all-its not even safe to walk sometimes.
Stir also came out wonderful---I had found this sweet and sour sauce with no salt or fat and very little sugar--
QUESTION: when you calorie cycle---what figures are you using--the extreme fat loss or just the fat loss--my fat loss figures are high and I feel like I am constantly eating to get the calories in--I think I might try the extreme fat loss this week to see what happens--what do you think?
Let me know what the scale says---

Hey Roz - we went for about a 45-50 minute bike ride in a different park this time - it had more hills and ups and downs. The smells from everyone's grills was incredible, but I kept sipping my water and pedaling away.
Dinner tonight was spiced shrimp, whole wheat noodles with parmesan, and fresh broccoli. Dessert was 3 sugar free peeps for me + a few dark chocolate-covered almonds - yum! And I was still around 1200 calories for the day - tomorrow I'll try for 1350 or so...I'm actually looking forward to the scale -we'll see - talk to you tomorrow - Linda

Hi Roz - just got off the treadmill - decided that I should consider "walking-cycling" like the calorie levels - so - today was my "speed" day. I did 1.75 miles in 30 minutes - so an average 17 min/mile. Tomorrow I'm going to go for time - and try to get in 45 minutes at a slower pace - then Tuesday go the "change the incline" route. We'll see - I definitely want to be back down next Sunday - I' m going to adjust the "ticker" back up to accurately reflect my upwards gain.
Lunch time! Think it's going to be veggies + hummus + baked pita chips - get all my veggies in for the day, practically, and work on figuring out my dinner plan - I know it's shrimp, but haven't gotten farther than that - Later! Linda

LINDA---great minds work in the same direction---we are having a shrimp stir fry for dinner today over brown rice--
Today I am 1500 calorie for the day but my #'s are higher than you because I weigh more (ugh) than you do--and you have to remember that you had a real touch week last week and your weight was not upper in your mind so I am sure that extra will come right off---oh by the way CC doesn't like anyone to use the "four letter word 'diet'"--liftstyle change are her words!!!!!
Just started the laundry but someone else has the dryer tied up for the next 2 hours so I will have to wait for that---have 3 loads because I did strip the bed today---but that is OK---the walking back and forth to the laundry will be good for me today---this will be the only day that I don't walk the 2 miles but I will put something in for housework--

How cute - and what a great habit to get her into early although most children I know will be active if you encourage them even a little bit...
I did go to the freedieting.com website and ran my numbers - it suggested a range between 1200 and 1350 so I'm going to vary them this week. Hopefully it will make a difference. I'm up to 160.0 this morning - so a net gain of 1.5# - by next Sunday I want to be back down to 158.5 - where I was 2 Sundays ago.
I don't want to join a gym either because I like the freedom of working out when I want to - not when I have to. There is so much work to be done in the yard that I could probably get all cardio I need from just doing that!
I bought shrimp yesterday so that will be today's lunch - in a salad probably - it's tasty and good for you, too. Today I think will be a light (1200 calorie) day because yesterday was a big one - probably around 1500 or so. I didn't record the fish and other things I ate.
Enjoy the laundry - I seem to have folded forever yesterday and didn't even do our bed linens! Probably today.
More later - Linda

HAPPY EASTER--LINDA TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY----

Sounds like you had a wonderful day yesterday---we went out for pizza with beach friends--I had 3 pieces of thin crust veggie---it was so yummy--and I drank 2 bottles of water with it and when I came home to put my food in I was still under for the day by 300 calories and I was stuffed and couldn't eat another thing---later on I did have a 100 cal bag of popcorn--and I also redid my #'s because I had lost some weight--
Did you go into "freedieting.com" and run your #'s there??? that is the site that CC (from Japan) recommends for your cycling?---if you didn't I can send you the instructions on what to do---just let me know--
I have always said that if I was 3 inches taller I would be fine---and you do know as you get older you "shrink"--how great is that when you want to be taller all your life---
Gosh, your yard sounds lovely---I miss so much planting flowers and having a veggie garden--but it will happen again not too far into the future---I really cannot change my exercising too much because I don't have many options---the treadmill, yoga, weights---I don't want to join a gym-been there and done that--so I do increase the speed on the mill---during commercials--really get it up there and the incline also-
I have to believe that any exercise that you do has to be good for the body--
Today will be laundry day for me---not sure how it worked out that I do it on Sunday's---but it happened---Tiger is on today for the final round of the Masters so hubby will be glued to TV--
Our 3.5 year old granddaughter just got her first real set of golf clubs today---I got this screaming call from NH---"grammy grammy--I got golf clubs from the Easter bunny"--38 more days and I will see her --
we do have an IMAC as they do so I get to see her on video about 4 times a week---sometimes we have breakfast together---
Ok--hubby is waiting for breakfast---have a wonderful day and talk to you later---

Hey Roz - I read about the calorie cycling and it does make sense. I think I may have been doing that without thinking. Am definitely going to give it a try this week - if only I could grow taller - I am height challenged, it seems!
It's interesting that the couple of sites I looked at all recommended the same calorie range 1200-1550 for me, so I'm going to continue to work with that.
We have a huge yard here (almost an acre) and I'm going to try and work in it for at least 30 minutes 4 times this week - I'm mulching, a bit of power mowing (where it's a tight fit for the riding lawn mower) and some trimming. I think if I vary my exercise routine except for the 30 minutes on the treadmill every day (cardiologist mandated - but I can change whether I'm going for speed, time or incline) maybe some more of this will come off!
I had a great breakfast - 2 cups of Starbucks (home brewed, of course), nonfat milk and berry burst cheerios. Yesterday must have been my "high" day - we celebrated Easter after the smoked fish dinner with a small Dairy Queen cherry sundae (my favorite but very rare treat because there are no DQ's close to us) and a Starbucks coffee on the road (white chocolate mocha, no whip, skim please)!
Today I will work on staying close to 1200 calories.
Should be an interesting week for both of us.
Take care, Linda

Hi Roz - what a great day yesterday was. I hopped on the treadmill and did that almost couldn't believe my 30 minutes was up when it was finished, then after lunch husband and I headed off to one of the parks with our bikes and did an hour there. Next we went over to St. Petersburg to find this great smoked fish restaurant we had been to before- it was a great day, and I felt super about what I'd done.
Today I'm going to look up the calorie cycling and read about it. Sounds good and makes sense.
I think I may try to get some yard work in today, too - I need to mow and spread some mulch (after I buy the mulch, of course).
Am also going to work on school for a little bit - the end of the year is coming up way to fast.

Hi Linda---we just got home from a day at the beach and looked for your message---I am so glad about your Mom---one less thing to worry about and you are right you have had a hard week---
Well the calorie cycling is working for me---I am down and happy isn't the word--I have so many calories to get in for today but our beach friends are on their way over and we are going out for pizza and I have already checked---just going to have a couple of pieces of veggie pizza and a salad and bringing my own water (2 bottles)---so I am sure I will be ok--
You really have to get into this calorie cycling thing---its amazing--when your life calms down a bit and you can think about you will have to join the thread that CC from Japan started with all the info--have you gone into 'freedieting.com' to check out what you should be eating everyday as far as calories goes?--if you haven't---you will have to do that also---
I walked 2 miles at the beach today so got my cardio in---it was a little windy coming back but it was resistance in my face!!!!
Tomorrow just staying home--hubby watching "Tiger"--making a shrimp stir fry for dinner and probably get the laundry done AGAIN---
Just spoke to our son in NH and they have about 5 inches on the ground and its very cold and expecting another storm on Wednesday---hopefully the snow will be gone before I get there on the 16th of May---
Ok shower time for me---first have to log in my foods so I know where I am today---then out to dinner---
Have a Happy Easter tomorrow---relax and enjoy the day--things can only go up from here---
Roz---PS---also have my water up to 12 glasses a day---I am floating!

Hi Roz - what a week this past one was! AAHHHH - I could do without one like it for quite a long time.
I've kind of been using the calorie cycling to fit in with what's happening during my week, but will definitely try it more seriously.
Mom's tumors were benign, and now we're waiting on the decision about a pallinoma - probably Monday or Tuesday before we hear the results and make the surgical decisions. She's very, very lucky - the benign ones were in the 4-4.5 cm size, and had grown in size so every one was a bit worried.
Didn't do as great as I wanted to last week, but not too bad, either. It looks as though I'm up a pound or two for the weekly weigh in, but who know what tomorrow will bring, and what it is, it is.
Today, I'm mowing and gardening some, plus back to walking on the treadmill and maybe biking. I biked yesterday afternoon and it was great - wind on my face, warm sun, etc. - very nice - while daughter Sarah had 1.5 feet of snow in Maine...
Today I think I'll have a low calorie day so that tomorrow can be a higher one - don't know what our plans are yet - maybe grilling out - am determined not to stress about it.
Am also working on plans for school - can't believe we only have 2 months left - the time has flown.
Happy Passover again - watch what you eat, but not too much, and remember to go work out when it gets stressful!
Talk to you soon - Linda
