I love the food groupings, too. Once I discovered this feature, it saved so much time. I eat a salad almost every day with roughly the same ingredients. Now instead of having to add the lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, salad dressing, etc., I just add a salad.

Love it!

ARRGHHH, I HATE GRAMS. Why don't they have ounces. The gram calculator is on the resource page. If I'm tracking something like strawberries and have to convert ounces to grams, I have to open a new window, click on nutrition, click on calculator. I know, I know, the USDA food list is in grams too. The government thought they were going to convert the US to metric. Well, THE EXPERIMENT DIDN'T WORK. GIVE ME OUNCES....PPPLLLEEEAAASSSE PRETTY PLEASE

RE: ALPHABETICAL FOOD LIST
In regards to the comment about alphabetizing the food lists, did you realize that when you add a food to your favorites, they show up in favorites in alphabetical order? So, I suggest that you add as many of the foods that you consume on a regular basis to your favoties to simplify tracking.

I also like the food grouping mechanism, because I tend to eat some of the same things over and over such as coffee w/1tsp sugar w/2T1%milk and which I have entered as a food group named coffee. By selecting coffee in the food group I can enter all 3 at once.

The food logging does take time and anything that simplifies it makes it more useful.

Traci - no, it's taken into account with the Fitness Tracker (based on how many calories you should be burning in your cardio sessions, etc). You would only need to do that if you were trying to maintain instead of lose.

I'd like to see the Nutrition Tracker reflect calories used for the day, so if I need to eat 1200 calories, but I've burned 600 in cardio, well, then don't I need 1800 so I can get 1200 net?

Great suggestion!

It would also be good if there were more filters, like the option to show only generic foods rather than branded items...that would make searches more productive for non-us members.

CORPS9499, I totally agree. It is very frustrating that the lists aren't alphabetical or in any kind of order.

I have also found some differences in calorie count between Sparkpeople nutrition counts and the USDA nutrient base. For example, today I had chicken dark meat roasted (no skin). That specific item isn't even on Sparkpeople nutrition; there is Chicken Breast, no skin; Chicken Breast, with skin; but in the dark meat category there is only Chicken Thigh - no skin or no skin category. And the count on Sparkpeople for chicken thigh was a lot lower than the USDA's chicken thigh, no skin.

say you search for chicken breast... you'll get a list of things that come up from the search query. But then you have to weed through them because they are not in alphabetical order (or any kind of order, for that matter). My suggestion is that they make the search queries come up in alphabetical order.

How often is it updated?

Is there anyway to get -what- to come up in alphabetical order...??
