Yep, I really did win a tee-shirt! It isn't due to show up for another couple of weeks. Now me, I'm respectful that you are part of the top 1000 ...
I'll admit one reason I began reading the messages is to pick up more points ... and then found that it's also been informative and fun. It's also a good motivator to check off all my goals.
This site is quite well designed to keep a variety of personalities on track!

You won a T-shirt?! I am so jealous. I love the points even if they don't matter LOL. I guess it is the competitor in me. I like knowing I am in the top 1000 on the leaderboard and I can't cheat so it makes me do stuff like post, read articles, walk etc.
I feel like I am on Who's Line is it!

I get an odd kind of satisfaction in watching the points increase, even though the reward is only a change in the icon!
A few times the "wish" to spin the wheel and see if I can win another tee-shirt has been enough to get me checking the site, entering my goals, and so on. Maybe that's part of the reason for the points - appeals to the competitive instinct, and gives yet another reason to stay on track :)

| slowturtle, from what I see it is to make our "current trophy" get bigger...that star over to the right side of page up by sparkpoints.. that is all I can figure.. I do not know why I am working to make my "trophy" grow except that I like this site so much that I really am not worried what I "get" from it... I hope I am "getting" healthier or something like that, smile... if I am wrong someone please tell us if there are other reasons for the spark points... it takes a while to navigate around this site. There is a lot to read about and it is fun... I find I need to be careful to get up and off the site to do my exercise and not keep going from one thing to another on it...good day to all....

| thank you for responding to my question on points for membership.. I appreciate that. I went to the areas suggested and tried it and it works... you two are great helpers on this... it really is so funny to be working for a "paper trophy" but somehow it seems to be fun to get additional points while helping myself and others.. thanks again

I generally direct people to the website and say something like "look me up when you get there, my user name is....".
Then when they get asked who recommended them, they can give your name!
They can enter the name after the event, by going to the preferences page from "Myhome".

| If we send someone the sparkpeople web site how in the world can we still get our points? Maybe there is no way and that is ok because they will be doing something great for themselves... I have found that the tell a friend is just not working, no one is getting anything from sparkpeople from me... and I have referred many and they are not getting an email through. I finally sent one to myself and I did not get it either (on another email address even) it just confuses me.. smile..thanks for any help on this and I will submit all names again.. I will also just send them the page myself because it is so good for us all...
