The more the merrier. I am also going on a cruise in April, so I am trying to get down some weight.
Does everyone have a busy week planned? Is everyone going to try and excerise more to lose that extra pound. We need some positive talk here.

Hi Starscout
I also got really serious last week and statred Wed. Weight myself last Wed and lost 3 lbs. It took a lot of work outs and strict managing of my food. I also keep a food journal and sort of use the points system from Weight Watches. I think it is easier the counting calories. We are going on a cruise in April and I hope to lose the weight by then.I tried last year but my weakness has been Ice Capp;s and lately I am not sure but things like milkshakes, which I never drank before. I have stopped drinking them. I find the worst time of the day is after supper watching TV. During the day I am always bsuy so it doesn't bother me. But I get the munchies after dinner, and I am not really hungry. I am trying LF Popcorn etc and eating more LF Jello and LF Pudding. See how I do on Wed when I weight myself.
Last night we had a couple of inches of snow, which is actually our first snow, but on tyop of that we has freezing rain. Thats not a lot of fun.
Have a good diet day and drink plenty of water.

Hi there Susan,
Your weather sounds similar to mine. We just started having "real" winter weather, with the bitter cold and snow. We have been spoiled with the unseasonally warm temperatures so far. I have two dogs, who are pugs: Ena and Nala. They are puppies and are quite a handful. They are so much fun it makes up for the turmoil they cause.
I have been making progress. I started only a little over a week ago. I have lost 1.6 lbs so far. I have a journal that I have been keeping on my daily food intake. It keeps me aware of what I am doing.
My problem with cheating will come up when I go out somewhere, or go to a party. I figure I should be celebrating or something. Don't know exactly what it is. I hope now that it is a quieter time of year, not so many holidays, that I will have an easier time.

Hi There
Sorry it took so long to reply but I was out most of the day, and my girlfriends birthday dinner was tonight. Here in Canada, so far we have had a very mild winter, but today it deceided to change and is snowing like crazy outside. I am glad that I am home for the night. Being diet buddies would be great, I need someone to get me on track. I have been on so many diets in my life but have found that when I have to answer to someone and the scale each week int makes me behave more. Ten years ago I wAS 235 pounds and lost the weight through Jenny Craig and swore that I would never gain that weight back so when its starts to creep up, I say danger, danger and start to panic.
I seem to have this ten pounds that I can't get through. Losy weight when your over 50 is a lot harder then it use to be.
I will be great just chatting to you about the things that make us cheat. I have two cats Pepper and Mookie. I wanted a dog but the husband wouldn't go for it. So I had to settle with my boys, which now I am gald that I have.
Hope to hear from you.
Susan

Hi again, thanks for the encouragement. I think that it is good to keep positive people around you when you are trying to do difficult things. The negative people sap your energy and make you doubt yourself. I hope to get to my goal by May, and I am feeling like it is something I will be able to do. I just have to keep determined.

A big welcome to you both, and I am darned proud of you trying to get healthy. It has taken me a year to go from 156lb size 12-14's to 124.3lbs sizes 4-6's. I had a sister I adore that really riddiculed me trying to lose the weight at 62 years old. Believe me this really didn't help, and I sure was discouraged! Praise God my spark people were awsome support. I was so thrilled that the love of my life (my husband of 43 years) even got me some Victoria Secret perfume and lacys for Christmas. This also encouraged him to go from 196 to 151, and is the sexiest 76 year old anywhere as far as I am concerned. We have much more energy and just feel so much better.I know you both will do well also. I really am proud of you. Trust me, I have learned a lot of little things to keep me on track now and am really greatful. Keep up the great work...it truly is worth it---Jean

Hi there,
How is Canada at this time of year? It is COLD here right now in New Jersey, USA. I know what you mean, I pretty much have the same problems. I lost 23 pounds last year while on Weight Watchers. They did teach me a lot about what I was doing wrong. I gained 10 of those pounds back. I want to go all the way back to what I think is a healthy weight. I figure 120 lbs is a realistic goal, I am 5 feet 3 inches tall. I probably was not this weight since I was 35 years old. Maybe we can be diet buddies, keeping track of each other's progress.
I envy you your excercise determination. I am bad at keeping up with any excercise at all. It has to be something that I like to do, or it is a struggle to even do it. I do like to hike, and I found two hiking buddies. I am trying to set up regular hikes. I do have an active job, I am a dog groomer, so I am not sitting at a desk. I also like to swim, but that is expensive, since I will need a ymca membership. I am working on that.
Let me know if you have any accomplishments or pitfalls, we can figure it out, one way or another

Hi It started Sparks last year becuase I was going on a cruise and needed to lose some weight. Low and Behold, it didn't come off. So I started last week again to see what I could do before the nice weather to lose weight quickly but I guess as you get older the harder it is come off. With myself being permediposal?? (not sure if I spelled this right)it is taking alot of work. I have been going to workout for a year now or the weight could have been worse, but starting last week I have added some cardio and weights and really watched my calorie intake.
I hope that I can find support from everyone, as I could use some cheering on and someone to account to.
Thanks for lisening to me, and hope to hear from you all.
