I've been gone, and off program for a couple of days, but just got back and wanted to stop in and say hi Now I need to go shopping so that I can get back to eating the right way. Hope everyone had a good weekend and has had a good start to the week so far. See you soon

Sue, I always drink a lot of water, so no it's not a problem. I drink most of my water before 12:00pm. Thanks I hope I can help you and any others I can. Keeping track of my food has been the best help for me. I was eatting a lot more salt than I would have guessed, and now I've cut way down. I like the fact that it counts the cal's for me, I wasn't very good at that. Good luck to you and everyone else. Dru

Wow, Dru, that's great! 21# since mid Dec is awesome. I wish I was doing so well. I am having trouble with the water. Are you getting in 8 glasses a day? The food part is going pretty well, although I have had a few things that I shouldn't have had. But nothing like I would have had if I hadn't been on this program or hadn't been tracking. I've been real good about tracking what I eat, even the stuff I shouldn't have, like the candy I ate last night. And the exercise is not as good as it could be either. I pulled some tendons and muscles in my arm, and can't do too much yet, so the strength training is out, but I am doing cardio. Probably could do more though. But reading about people like you and your successes is inspirational. It makes me want to try even harder. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Luciana, thanks for the welcome. You're right, there is a lot of info here. I don't know if I'll ever have time to get to all of it. And everyone seems to be so nice and so helpful. I really am trying to get healthy. At this age, a person suddenly seems to notice that they aren't 25 anymore and they better do something about their health or pay the price. I certainly don't want to end up not able to enjoy my grandchildren growing up, so I've got to get myself healthy. I am a person who needs a lot of support and encouragement, so this site is perfect for me. Of course, I plan to be as supportive to others as I can be also. I will definately will be in contact. Thanks.

My Dr. told me I would have to have my knee replaced if I didn't loose weight. But since being on SP I have lost 21# since mid Dec and my Dr. says keep it up and maybe no replacement. That could happen to you too. I'm 53. I feel much better allready. Keep up with SP and you will see those lb just melt away. E-mail any time for support Dru

Another thing we have here are lots of nice people who are all trying to get healthy, as you are. We help and encourage each other.

Thanks everyone. I am taking it one day at a time. Already I am finding that some days are going to be easier than others, The wedding is more than a year away, so it is not really much incentive right now, but my son is expecting his second child at the end of next month. He lives in NY and I live in WI, so we don't see each other often. I will be going there for the birth and would love to be down 10 lbs when I see him. Haven't seen them since Oct when my mother passed away and have lost 4 since then, so 6 more to go for that short term goal.

Hey Coldtoes, welcome
Having an event like a wedding as a goal really helps with the weight loss I think. At least it does for me. I worked harder before my sons wedding I know. I didn't make the goal I wanted, but I really was unrealistic about it anyway. Just keep doing it one day at a time, and remember the ultimate goal is being healthy.

Hi, I joined SparkPeople less than a week ago and have been reading some of the posts on this board. You seem like great people, the kind I'd like to talk with. I'm 54 years old and have been struggling with my weight all my life. I am really determined to make this work, as I have been told that I will need a knee replacement soon. I have a grandson and soon will have a second one that I want to be able to play with and keep up with. My daughter is getting married next year and I want her to be proud of the way I look at her wedding. My husband is very active and I want t be able to participate in those things I used to do with him. In short, I want my life to be better. I'm not going to get my youth back, but I can make sure my health is the best it can be.
