I've found that I really have to watch my sodium intake and also diet sodas... might just be me, though. I really like Splenda a lot - it's the only artificial sweetener I use. Linda52

| Thank you, it's nice to know there's a coach when you might need one! I have been feeling so free of the craving of food since I do not eat any white flour or white sugar. I'm mainly eating whole grain, and not alot of that. And 1-2 fruits a day and a ton of vegetables. Even without losing weight I feel so much better and stronger. Thank you for the reply to my post.

Hi, B
It sounds like you're doing great. Two pounds per week, on average, is about as much as you can lose if you want to keep the weght off long-term. Crash diets with faster weight loss almost always result in regaining the weight when you go back to normal eating. One big reason for this is that the faster you lose the weight, the more muscle and lean tissue you're losing along with the fat, and that lowers your metabolic rate (muscle uses up much more calories than fat does).
You may lose more than two pounds some weeks and less (or none) others, but the best goal for someone with the amount of weight you want to lose is an average of two pounds per week over time. That's what our program is designed to help you do.
Here's an article from the Resource Center on healthy beverage choices, which may answer some of your questions about artificial sweeteners (there are other articles in there too):
Healthy Beverage Guidelines.
Hope this helps.

My weight loss has been really slow. Could sodium consumption or Splenda be the cause? I've been doing 30-45minutes of cardio daily, 30 min weight training 3 times week, eating about 1550 cals per day. Ive lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks. I'm not accustomed to losing so slowly! Maybe its my age? today I laid off the diet coke (caffiene free) Maybe that will help?? I usually have coffee with splenda (2-3 packets) twice a day. SOmetimes sugarfree jam or sugar free vanilla TOrani or Sugarfree maple syrup?? how much is too much?
