You both have made good points about French advertising being a valuable asset to helping keep SparkPeople a free service. I am more motivated to use SparkPeople to help me lose weight than I ever could be to stay crabby about advertising in French. Thanks for the good points. TL

I have to agree with Vindicated... Besides Mer, vous ne parlez pas un peu de Francais? Ętes-vous une Canadienne? And whatever... it's an ad. They pay SparkPeople so we get to use it for free. I couldn't justify a complaint, even if it bothered me. Besides - it's good to practice another language, keeps the mind from getting rusty!

| Does it matter? Would you be as upset if it was in English and was just for an item you had no interest in? These ads help keep Spark free. How is a different language offensive? If the presentation itself is bothersome (ie distracting, or noisy) I can understand a complaint, but French? I too was surprised to see them, but to me it proved that Spark is in fact a diverse community and emraces that fact! Rejoice in having such a wonderful resource as Spark!

I was wondering the same thing just this morning! It seems that there have been more French advertising just over the last week or so. I prefer my communication in English. TL

I assume I'm seeing most of my ads in french because I listed that I am from Canada. And I am. But LESS than HALF of the population speaks french.
Are there so many french-speaking people on here that I need french ads?!??
