We hope to add tools and content for kids at some point, but our experts feel that we would need to do a lot of specialized content and development, as kids have different physical and emotional considerations and issues, similar to what Crystalqueen alluded to.

Perhaps I view things differently because I have only girls, but speaking as someone who had an ED at the age of 15/16, I can say that were there something like this for me I would definitely have misused it and fallen into even more dangerous territory.

I think it's great that he is so interested in a healthy lifestyle, but I am sure that as long as he learns the value of active play and fruit/veg vs TV and chips/chocolate that will be enough. Calorie counting isn't really something for kids to be concerned with in my opinion. (and please note, just my opinion, maybe your son is mature enough to do it sensibly, I just feel that for every one who is, there are another 10 who aren't and I don't think any website should be in a position to promote it for that reason)

I want to be clear, as the tone of what you say is lost when it is written and I don't want you to take offence, I am not saying you are wrong or making any judgments against you as a parent, just an observation of people in general. As I said in my opening statement, maybe it's because I have girls I am more open to the whole ED issue.

The difficulty is that if you start teaching weight-loss to kids, you can be leading them down a sticky path.

I am finding myself that as I improve my own lifestyle, my kids are picking up the good habits (in the same way they had previously learned my bad ones!).

Do you subscribe to the family daily email? There are some good things in those to introduce healthier things into the family home.

It would be nice to have a "families" section to the RC, though. Even if it just housed copies of the daily email, it would give something to refer to.

My son has been watching me on Spark and following some of the stuff I am doing. I was wondering if there was any chance of you guys doing something for kids on here....it would be awesome. Just wondering. Thanks for listening.
