| I have that same problem! I found that keeping low calorie snacks available helps when chewing gum or drinking water doesn't make the hunger go away. An apple, orange or banana always fills me up... I cut it into pieces and then in between pieces I drink a little water. By the time I'm finished, I'm actually full.

I chew the eclipse winterfresh gum. It has 5 calories for 2 pieces. I usually only chew it at work. I agree with everyone else that mentioned drinking water.

| don't chew gum much but when I think I'm hungry the first thing I do is drink some water. A lot of time people mistake thirst for hunger...not saying that is the case with you but I know it usually is for me.

| I agree with the previous posts and recommend that you try and switch to eating fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible and cutting down on processed foods as much as you can. Filling up with veggies and fruits gives you lots of fiber, lots of food, for small amounts of cals/fats and lots of nutrients.

| I would definately count calories on gum that is 20 cals a piece... I would switch to sugar free gum which is 2.5-5 cals a piece...

I don't have a problem with hunger myself, but water does fill you up. Often dehydration is detected by the body as hunger, so make sure you are getting plenty.
The gum is possibly making you feel hungry, too. I don't know about the science of it, but I have always "known" (in the way that we just have this idea ingrained from somewhere!) that if you chew gum, the stomach receives signals that there is food coming and prepares for it. This causes a hunger signal to be released when the food doesn't arrive. As I said, I don't know how true this is, but definitely something to think about.
And is it worth 20 cals a time of nothing, when you could physically eat something with those same cals?
As far as tracking, one a day isn't going to make a huge difference, but if you are having loads, then they can easily take you over on your cals if you don't allow for them.
Hope this is at least a little helpful!

While at work we all chew on gum. A Bubble Bubble gumball, it states on the bag 20 calories. That can add up in a day. Does anyone keep track of gum calories.
Also...
What things fill a person up. I find myself so hungry everyday I try to be within my calorie range. I try to snack in between, but I am still hungry. I guess it doesn't help sitting behind a computer all day.
