Transfat is a man-made fat that is made out of vegetable oils (hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils) but acts in your body like saturated fat (the kind that comes from animals). Calorie-wise all fat is the same--9 calories per gram. But saturated fat and trans fat are linked to high cholesterol and heart disease, so it's important to keep them down to a minimum.

I get trans fat on some thingd, but it's not listed on our calorie count list. Can anyone tell me if they are importrant? I have just been leaving them out. Thanks to anyone who answers.
