So far, pretty smooth. I started in mid July and I have lost about eight pounds. I feel better and my clothes don't feel so tight. I am a little worried about how I will do now that the school year is beginning and the everyday stresses of work life are returning. I know that I will be much more pressed for time and may have trouble being as careful about tracking. I really do want to get rid of this roll of flab around my middle though, so I plan to press on.

Even when I attempt moderate gardening in my yard, I get a workout. Vigorous gardening is major exercise and I encourage you to log it in! It gives a big lift to constantly see what you've been doing every day, especially when looking back.

It sounds like between the gardening, walking and upcoming exercise class, you're going to be very active, which is great!

As far as weight goes, I am very motivated to get to my goal, in spite of the fact that the last time I weighed less than 150 was over 10 YEARS AGO!! And I don't remember staying there long, so it must have been pretty uncomfortable for me. This time, I know I'm ready. Congrats on leaving 193! Has the overall journey been smooth for you, or rough?

I think I'm just being lazy about entering my cardio info. I have been doing vigorous gardening every morning before work (except one day when I walked), but just hadn't gotten around to entering it. Besides that, I rarely do the strength exercises. This may be because I know that the exercise class that I do twice a week during the school year (I'm a teacher) will start soon and it includes strength work.

I noticed that your weight loss trajectory is very similar to mine. I started at 193 and am aiming for 145.

Hi, I'm a walker and listing my cardio every day is not too much of a problem. Once I enter it, the calories burned are updated automatically. But that's cardio. When you say you're trying to balance your routine, do you mean trying to actually balance your workout or entering it on SparkPeople?

I am finding that while I don't mind tracking my eating and I am enjoying the additional activity that I have been doing, I do not seem to be able to get systematic in balancing my exercise routine or tracking my calories burned. Any guidance, encouragement?
