Good morning!
Well, we made it back from the city and I managed to log 5800 steps mall walking and walking briskly outside. But, the downside...3 meals in restaurants. Too much sodium in my food, that's for sure. I kept lunch light by having minestrone soup, but supper was Boston Pizza and I was hungry. Ouch!! LOL
Today we've got a lot of office work to do. Also, I need to get this house cleaned before the in-law comes on the weekend. I probably won't make it to the local gym to work my lower body today, so will have to make do with a workout in our *at-home* gym this evening.
I hope that everyone is doing well.

Good Morning, Sara we have even more in common as I live in the Quad Cities, ROck Island, Illinois to be exact. So we are both midwesterners. Try not to let the world make you feel like an odd duck. There really are a lot more people out there without chidren then we realize. Maybe they just don't have to lose weight. LOL. You hand in there with both work and the weight loss. If you take it one pound at a time it will come off.
Robin interesting that your bf is in Boca as that is where my aunt and uncle live. I don't get there very often but it sure is a nice place.
Can't remember my total points so I will have to go back and look them up and post them later. I know I didn't have a good day yesterday and I hope today is better. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone,
I took this line from a visualization:
I acknowledge that my life is made up of a series of perfect moments and that I always have the inner and outer resources I need.
Hope you all have a great day!
Sara, Where is Lakeland? My bf is in Boca, my mom just moved home from Pompano. I'm single, too! Cathi's not really single - I believe she has a long term partner.

Hi Everyone,
It's been a few days since I first logged in and there are soooooo many posts to read. I have had to work late all this week so far and was just too tired when I got home to spend much time on the Internet. I'll try to catch up with the posts in the next couple of days (I'm living for the weekend right now...).
If I remember right, Pam has lost 100 lbs and Cathi is single. The rest is a blur!!!! But I promise to catch up and hope to get to know each one of you.
I think I said in my original post that I'm single (never married), 54, and I live in Lakeland, Florida (have been here a little over two years). I'm originally from Des Moines, Iowa, and moved to Florida in 1992. I've lived in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, and now Lakeland. Oh, and I need to lose 100 lbs (UGH!!!!!). Gained most of it in the past 4 years.
Well, I'll review the posts in the next couple of days and get to know all of you better. It's great to be able to meet other women my age who don't have children. Sometimes the world makes me feel like such an odd duck. And I'm tired of being an odd duck.
Will write more later. Thanks for the welcome from all of you.

Mari if it makes you feel better I gave in to the carmel apples with M&M's on them today. And it was all downhill from there. Must have thought I should celebrate my toe not being broken. Well tomorrow is another day and we wipe the slate clean and start from there. You to Robin and Cathi and anyone else who didn't have the best of days.
Yep tomorrow 5:15 am I will be in the pool. That should help get me back on track. It starts my day out great. I use to be able to do the tapes at home but not anymore. I burned myself out on them and they got boring. Robin see if you can just take a class at the Y without having to join if it's too expensive., I have a friend who does that. Does a water aroebics class three days a week. It would be a start.
My great points for today 2 for posting, 2 for water, and 1 for thought. Maybe I'll get 2 for nothing after 7:30. I should cause right now I don't think I could get another thing in my stomach.
And too all a good night.

Lyn, thanks for another great quote (Peck).
Pam, glad to hear your toe isn’t broken (mine stayed red for many weeks) and will be back in the pool soon. Yeah for you!!!
Robin, I have the same problem with a.m. exercise. I have walked outside a few times but it is scary so not worth it. Also, I was flashed by a guy one morning so that kept me off the streets for a few days! I used the gym at our complex but that is so boring. I also use cds but if you don’t enjoy them, they won’t work. Have you considered the Y? Ours sometimes has a special – you pay to join based on the day of the month so your first month can be just $1 if you join on the 1st. They also have special rates – you might want to check it out. For me, without being able to drive to a gym or the Y, cds or tapes at home is the best bet – as long as I use them!
We don’t have cable. Boy, do I miss QVC.
Lyn, hope your husband is doing ok. Keep us posted.
Mari, forgive yourself for the M&M’s and keep going. You CAN do this! What kind of work do you do? Is it physical. I sit at a desk all day long and that isn’t good for a person.
Points for today are few and far between: 2-water. 1-posting, 4-exercise, 2-tracking = 9 ending today with 9/26/186 = I need to get the lead out!

Pam,
I know you're right. I need to make a decision. I actually need to do a bit of research and see how much the local health clubs are - and I'm seriously thinking of checking one out that has a pool. I used to love to swim.
I also have to consider whether or not I'd actually do exercises here alone with a video. I never have, and have a full selection of tapes, so I can't imagine what would make me change and start doing them.
It's a big decision bc it's an expensive one. Health clubs here are up to $70 a month!
I can see that I'm not really gung ho. I didn't track again today.
Tonight, I will spend the night watching QVC and buying shoes. All their shoes were donated by great shoe companies and are selling for half price. All the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research!
I think I must have everyone's points mixed up. I'll deal with that tomorrow.

Good morning!
We're off to the city for a medical appointment. Hubby is having thyroid surgery next week and the doctor wants to see him today.
It's supposed to be my cardio day, so I guess I'll need to race around West Edmonton Mall for a while.

Robin I think you have me mixed up with Mari. She lost the pound not me (I should be so lucky). My points starting with today look like this 0/28/200. Now if we would stay out of the Mexican restaurants I would probably lose a pound, maybe.
The doctor finally called me last night to report that I have no broken bones or fractures in my toes or in my foot. That is a big relief. SHe believes all I did was stub it really hard. She wants to look at it again on Thursday, that is as long as there is no more swelling and it doesn't get any redder today. Actually it doesn't look red at all so I guess all is well. Look out water here I come. Yeah!!
Also Robin I don't blame you for not walking by yourwelf in the early morning when it is dark. That is not safe anymore no matter where you live. However, that doesn't mean you can't exercise so you better find something else to do, just kidding. Seriously though, I know I use it as an excuse when I can't swim not to exercise because I don't enjoy anything else. It's not a good enough excuse and I know better. So in this case do as I say not as I do. LOL.
Every day practice emptying your mind of all unhealthy attitudes. Have a good day.

Hi Pathfinder

Robin, These are my points.. Week 1 (3 days) 42 points Week 2 - 110 points Week 3 - 91 points and I haven't finished with my exercise for today yet
Pam, I'm glad to hear that the foot prob isn't cellulitis. It sounds like a few of us have foot problems. Yikes that hurts. I had plantar faciitis a year ago so add me to the list of our members who wear orthotics. It's better now, but if I slack off on my foot stretching or go without shoes I get lame right away.
Thanks for the cauliflower recipe. Those are spices that I'm not familiar with, but sounds like something good to try!
Cathi, Sorry to hear that Lisa is moving. That'll be a big adjustment.
Mari, I think you posted the turkey meatloaf recipe. That looks like a good one too.
Me, I had a good day. We worked in the office and then cleaned Mom's house because my brother and his wife are coming to visit her this weekend. Now, I had better get my weights in or I'll be short some points. LOL
Take care all and to all a good night!

Didn't track today, didn't exercise, definitely need to do something different here ladies. 2 pts posting; 1 pt thought; that's all folks.

Pam,
I'm really stuck about working out. My workout buddy stopped calling me - hey, it's cold and dark at 6am when we usually meet. I guess I should join a gym or at least start doing some of my exercise videos. Ugg.
I'm glad they don't think it's cellulitis. Good stuff!

Lyn,
I'm confused about your points, too. I have you down for 42 the first week, and 90 last week. That's 132. So you did 111 points last week?
I'm impressed, everyone is really doing great.
Rob

Pam,
Does that mean that your points last week were 120 less 34 less 43= 43??? Congrats on the weight loss! Robin

to the thread, Pathfinder! Right now we only have salmon in the freezer so I'll have to wait awhile to try your recipe.
Mari, congrats on another pound gone! I wish I could say the same but it's nice to know someone is winning at the losing battle. I loved your quotes. Also, the recipe for the turkey meatload if one I'll try. We eat a lot of turkey (ground breast) and chicken and it's nice to find a new way to fix it.
Pam, sorry to hear about your foot problems. A couple of month's ago I thought I'd just stubbed my toes really badly but it colored and swelled. Turned out I broke it and all I could do was tape it. Now, that you mention it, that is why I stopped exercising for so long - even walking was painful. I had surger on that foot and still have a lot of problems with it. I hope you get to feeling better soon. It sounds like you can get back into the water which is good!
We went out to dinner tonight for my sister's last night in Virginia. Barry chose Olive Garden and we all had the soup and salad but I had three (maybe four??) breadsticks and the last one was very salty. Then I came home and had a can of diet coke and five (count 'em, five) macadamia nut clusters. They are like a turtle and 3 have about 230 calories. I completely blew my calories for the day - all after 7:30.
Lisa leaves tomorrow morning so I'm taking the day off to help her load her truck and try to straighten up the apt. I also figure I'll be a bit blue. I just need to plan my food so I don't eat out of depression.

 Greetings, can I join in?
I like the spirit I see here. Being new to SparkPeople, I'm not sure where I'll fit in.
So, in the spirit of sharing, I'll offer my tilapia recipe and see if you like it. . .
2 tilapia fillets (about 4 - 6 oz each) 1/4 c. Seasoned bread crumbs (I use Progresso and while it takes more than 1/4 cup to get the fillets covered, much less actually "sticks" to the fillets) 1.5 cup cooked brown rice 1 can stewed Tomatoes (drained and cut up smaller)
Using two small-ish baking dishes put rice on the bottom (3/4 cup in each dish). Then, divide the Tomatoes (1/2 for each dish) and make a layer over the rice. Dredge the fillets in the bread crumbs and lay each one on a bed of rice/tomatoes. Cover with foil. Bake 45 minutes in 350 oven. Remove foil and broil 1 -2 minutes just to brown on top.
Serves two -- fills you up at roughly 425 cal/serving. Pair it with a salad and it makes a great supper. (hubby loved it!)
I'm just starting SparkPeople but working on the same 50 pounds I've needed to lose for the last 10 years. Wit and wisdom welcome!

Hello all, Well I just got back a little while ago from the doctors. The nurses at work thought I did have cellulitis, but according to the doctor it is not. that is the good news. She sent me to have an x-ray as she thought my toe might be broken. I guess I won't know until tomorrow what the story is. However, if it is broken she said all I would have to do is tape my toes together and that as long as I wear my water shoes I can still go swimming. Yeah. You are right Mari I am not a very happy camper when I can't go swimming.
How did everyone elses day go? Anything exciting in anybody's life? My points for today were 2 for posting, 2 for water, 2 for tracking, 1 for thought. Since 7:30 hasn't come yet don't know about that so at this point in time I am 7/19/200.
