Thanks Kim. I did try but I went for black beans in rice with cheese. Not to veggie. I think I am going to try it again. I am looking for receipes that have flavor that are quick and easy. I am getting tired of lettuce and green beans. Any ideas from any one would be greatly appreicated.

As I am a vege lover, having a vegetarian dinner sounds good to me. You can eat a lot of veges and feel really full with a low calorie count. Eat up and lose those pounds.

That's ok, we all have those days. I know what you mean about 9 year old boys but mine was a 12 year old girl who wants me to get a dog so that "she can take care of it". Yeh, right. She pout the whole time we were in the store and then she heard me tell the cashier about it and she was veeerrry upset with me. Oh well, I can take her home to mom and dad. But she did cheerful when we went to the next store and starting purchasing things for this new family coming into our chuch which is leaving a different city because of abuse by a husband. They have nothing and our church is helping them get a house together. Well back to the diet. I have done better the last 2 days and lost 2 pounds but I did not exercise yesterday other then walking while shopping. I need more discipline. I am going to try to eat just fruits and vegetables for dinner tonight and see if I can satisfy my hunger that way. I am starving right now and it is only 5:30 p.m. Bye for now

Sound like me. We had KFC the other night and I blew it big time. Had a dilly bar, cake icecream, french fries the works. I hate it when I do that. Got a short walk in though. Realy short as my oldest Grandson was being a brat so we turned around and went home. Nine year old boys are a pain in the butt.

I had a slip up yesterday. Went to a picnic and bonfire last night and ate about 300 calories over my daily limit. And to top it off I didn't exercise at all. I don't think I want to weigh in tomorrow. Afraid i didn't lose any weight this week. We also had 3 birthdays during the week and I had a piece of bakery each day. I lost all will power the past few days.

Thanks I know you can do it if I can. You sound like you get enough exercise with all the children that you have. You also must have a special place in your heart for children that are not getting the love and attention that they need. You were at the same weight that I was when i started and I know what you are facing and by doing the food journal and tracking you food intake will be a great help. One thing, be flexible. Some days will be harder than others and some times you will slip and eat a little more than you want or plan but you can recover by getting up the next day and starting over. Each day you start over anew. keep up the good work and this web site is very helpful. talk to you later.

Karen, glad you had a good day and are trying a few new things. It was mid 90's & humid here in ST.Louis. I spent the afternoon shopping for a new computer. Not sure what I will do. That wasn't what I expected. Phone, service and expenses seem to be costly right now. I also spent some time preparing for the beginning of the new week. It seems to help esp. on Mondays. I hope to workout and after Monday's workload, I won't be able to cook and stay on the better meals unless I prepare. So that's done and hopefully I'm off to a good week. NICK

I'm doing pretty good today. I split my breakfast in half and had a mid morning snack. I did the same for lunch and had a mid afternoon snack. I think having 6 smaller meals per day may be just the ticket for me. I've tried to keep myself busier too. After shopping for my weekly groceries, I cooked some items for the week and walked outside for a half hour. It is beautiful here in Cleveland. Not a cloud in the sky, hardly humid at all and 80 degrees.

Karen, small world I'm a recovering couch potatoe. Until 1/1/06, my routine was work come home eat anything fast and sit the rest of the evening watching TV shows. With things on TV like 24hours and stations like Discovery, Health, Travel Etc. its hard not to just watch and watch. But, Karen you have the attitude. I love that "once I set my mind to something I can accomplish it" Fantastic!I am trying to work up to that point. I have to take it day by day and recover from the failures and celibrate the successes and not let the former get ahead of the later. I've looked into south beach Diet it appears to be somewhat like the weight watchers core after your first two weeks. Looks health anyway you look at it. Just cutting calories and trying to increase you activity will do it for some people. Maybe you could do more walking, stretching and deep breathing. Good luck. NICK

It's about time I come clean. I am a couch potato. I got into this really bad habit of watching TV and movies a while back when I had a severe flare up of arthritis and was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which is like arthritis in your muscles. So I was unable to get around, sat around, watched TV and ate. This happened after I had lost 30 pounds by using the south beach diet and going to Curves. So when I was unable to exercise I got depressed and the rest is history. All of your encouragement means a great deal to me. Once I sent my mind to something I can accomplish it. I quit smoking almost 3 years ago, cold turkey. I did lose that 30 pounds a year ago. I just need to get motivated again. I certainly will keep in touch with all of you for the support. Keep those messages coming.

GLB, well I'll be thinking about you Sunday, cause we are apparently slicing, diceing, and cooking our lighter meals. Sometimes this goes well. I suggest the oldies rock and roll. Something about BoB Dylan, Elvis and the Beatles singing get me cutting, cooking and dancing all at the same time. Probably not a pretty sight.I'll send hubby out with the boys to protect him. Have a good one. NICK

KLMK, I'm so busy on weekends it flustrating trying to get everything done. Unfortunately in the evening I don't feel like doing what has to be done, no I just get bore and eat. However I have discovered keeping busy (like cutting up veggies, salads and precooking a few low calorie meats will keep me more busy than I want this Sunday), keeping a food journal where you have to enter EVERY LITTLE THING YOU ATE, and using the Sparkpeople website have all helped me. Good Luck I also think these bad habits are just hard to break. NICK

KMLK You can do it. Have you tried small meals more often during the day. Like breakfast, morning snack, etc. This may help.

Nick you are so right. A pizza in the oven is much quicker than cleaning carrots and celery. But if you do a lot at one time then you are ready for the week. I also purchase a lot of the frozen low calorie meals and use them alot. some are good others are not. I have a problem making it from one meal to the next without snacking. I use some of the Special K cereal bars that are only 90 calories to tide me over. I am going to plan some home cooked meals this week because I bought a smaller crock pot that I can use for just one person. Clean those veggies and you will feel better about your change in you life of eating. Good luck and keep moving forward to your goal.

Eating out of boredom. Boy does that hit home. Thats why weekends are the worst for me. I'm trying to keep busy today so I don't think about eating.

GLB,oh I agree alot of my eating is boredom and sometimes when I'm very tired I eat so I can stay up and active a little longer. Now that I admit to it maybe I can stop it. This week has been the extremes for me, from the VERY BAD to good. Hopefully the weekend won't be bad. I've shopped and now I should have the time to prepare some of the fresh vegetables and low calorie receipes. During the week I come home exhausted and never fill like cooking good meals.Have you noticed the higher the calorie meal the easier it is to put together. Hope you all have a good weekend also.Nick

Nick,
some times I know its boredom. I get home and look at all the things I need to do but don't want to do them. I have been working on my kitchen for ten years. I finally bought paint to paint last weekend but when I get off from work I go to Curves and exercise for 45 minutes or to church and then when I get home I don't want to do anything. Well I better get busy because I am not getting any younger and I won't be able to stand on a ladder in a few years. (HA HA!) have a good weekend and don't let the refrigerator talk to loud this weekend.

keep busy!! find something to do and plan for small snacks in the late morning and afternoon. I find that around 4:00 p.m. I am starving. I have some Speicl K ceral bars in my desk and they are only 90 calories. they are sweet and cruchy and seem to tide me over until supper. In the morning I save my banana for a late morning snack from my breakfast. I use a banana because they are easy to take with me without having to have a spoon or plate. And I can scarf it down if I have to while working. Drink a lot of water. I need to practice what I am preaching here and am trying to do more except it makes me run to the ladies room more. I guess its the fat particles leaving my body from the water flushing it out. have a great weekend and you can do it!!!!!

Hey Bobbie, thank you for the encourgement and ideas. When I blow my diet, I get depressed, then I eat and a horrible cycle begins. However this time it's OVER. I feel much better last night and today. It's soooooooo nice to know I'm not alone. By tonight conversation, I see this is a common problem we are all working on. NICK

GLB506,
Try making egg drop soup and eating it. It's low in calories and the liquid is filling. Drink a cup of black coffee or tea it might help cut your appitite, it does mine. A small orange has about 43 calories and will help that empty feeling because of the liquid. Try making or drinking low calorie liquids because of their filling of fullness. V8 juice, tomatoe, juice, water, broth etc. I hope this helps. You are worth the effort

thanks for the words of encouragement. I did much better today but it is almost 9:00 and I did not get enough to eat for supper. I went to Applebee and had a Weight Watcher meal there and it was 370 calories. I had the shrimp and steak with rice and broccoli. It did not taste that good tonight. I am still looking for the right taste to satisfy me. I think I might be bored with the same old stuff but I am too lazy to try a new receipe. I hate to cook for just me. What can I do to keep in step with the calorie count.

Thanks for the encouragement and I have done better today. My friend at work and I discuss what we both read or saw on this web site at lunch today. She really likes it and we discuss the topics that we read. I know we (you and me and the rest of the dieting world) can do it.

The important thing is that we are all trying our best to make a difference in our lives. One step at a time. I had a bad day at work so on the way home to perk me up I bought a crunch cone. Now I'm feeling guilty about eating it. But I've decided not to beat myself up and walk on my treadmill 15 extra minutes tonight. I know that it won't burn off all the calories, but better than nothing.

Boy do I know job stress. I've worked as a mortgage loan processor for the past 19 years. I thought that as gained experience and seniority that things would become easier. However, that is not true. I have more stress now than I did back then. Isn't it true that belly fat comes from the stress? Or is it that we just eat more because of the stress?

Good Morning Ladies
Today is a new day and we have a new opportunity to eat better today. Don't feel bad sometimes we all get on a eating binge and don't know what we want to eat but only for a day or so and then it's back to healthy eating. The key to not knowing what we want to eat is to think about it a while before we grab the first thing in sight. If you happen to start eating something that does not satisfy your cravings, don't finish it, see if you might be able to find what will satisfy your cravings and then enjoy it. You will have the opportunity to eat better the next day. You have come too far to keep binging. Notice the difference in the way you feel when you start back eating healty.

GLB, that's just what I did last night. Ate everything and still wanted more. I couldn't stop it last night, just finally went to bed. But today I decided I would do everything I could not to eat after supper tonight. So far so good. There's also a good discussion on the topic night cravings if you
