I use calorie king to get info and add it to my tracker here. I don't use anything else on their website. they have stuff in their database that SP sometimes doesn't. It had the brand on german chocolate my grandma brings back for me, I can't get the info off the packaging because it's all in german!

calorieking.com is a good website for the rare times you can't find an equivilant in the SP database. I found the german chocolate my grandma brings back from europe on there.

Also, I think being able to share favorites would be very useful (same issue as the first poster). I came here the suggest that and came accross this thread first! Glad to hear it's in the works.

The database is updated periodically when the USDA updates their database.

I often just search the internet. I measure everything in metric rather than serving sizes so the majority of my input comes from my own list. I've looked up nutritional values for lots of fruits and veggies on other sites and then enter those in to my own favourites list. Works quite well for me.

i could imagine how crazy that would get and i just wanted to comment on trully how often all my food comes from** posts though. it seems weird but my options arent basic i guess. i also would like to be able to select medium size eggs in all kinds of options and does anyone know where to get food stats for things not posted like veggies and fruits or for instance eggs???

Karen,

Members used to be able to submit foods for approval to be added to the database. As the site got bigger, it became too many foods for us to approve, so we had to stop doing that. We hope to allow people to share favorites at some point so that you and your husband only have to enter items once. We just don't have functionality yet.

I notice a lot of "*"-marked items, and I know this means the nutrition information was entered by a SP member. Are the SP powers that be still collecting and entering data that members provide? I ask because my husband and I are doing this together, but when I add the nutrition info for something we both eat, it added on only my profile.

(Did I make any sense with that?)
