My birthday weekend was an exercize in gourmet dining this year. EVERYBODY took me out for lunch this week and weekend! I was mostly in good control, but did allow some birthday treats. Now it's time to get back on track!

Hi Friends,
Nice to read what you all have been writing. I've been up-to-my-eyeballs in the last few weeks with work, meetings, and family -- but it's been a useful kind of busy, and it has not hurt my program any.
Today I'm "61" and not feeling it at all. ( Happy Birthday to me and all you other Autumn babies out there! )
I feel way younger than my years, often surprising people with my age ('ya think I really act immature? -- ), I have fairly good health and many blessings to be grateful for today.
I've been having a little guilt about not writing in, but I haven't even turned on the computer when I get home at night.
So today, please accept my thoughts and prayers for the needs of your hearts, and the continuing health of body, mind and spirit.

Hello everyone! Glad to see you all doing OK! One pound at a time. I am exhausted this week. I have no energy. Did the walk for the March of Dimes over the weekend. Had enough energy once I got there and started walking. I feel bloated and sluggish this week. Still going to go for that walk in about 1/2 hour. I need energy, not chocolate! My weight seems to be jumping some this week too. water rentention is weird. There is a virus going around that is causing high fever and fatigue. I have the fatigue and a headache, but no fever.
Anyway. Sounds like we all have the motivation, maybe not all the energy we need. Mine comes from sheer force and determination. That 4.4 two weeks ago killed me so I am determined not to let that happen again. WE CAN DO THIS!
Have a great day!
Pam

| Thank you Aunt Bee. I will miss her very much but she was 88 and not feeling well so it was probably for the best. I've been doing o.k. but my life has been a little topsy turvey as of late so it's been hard to keep up with correct eating habits. The good news is I lost a pound from last week ---hurray...I had lost 30 pounds when I started, put back about 10 in a year's time and now I'm down 3 1/4 pounds--so I'm heading in the right direction.

| Nancy: I also had a weekend that was an emotional roller coaster, too Besides it being Mother's Day, we had a wedding to attend and a dear aunt passed away. I didn't know whether to feel happy, sad or in-between. I had noticed that I wanted to munch because of this. It's been a week of a lot of eating out also. I'm almost afraid to weigh myself. I'm hoping next week is better but...I have a son graduating college and it's our 30th wedding Anniversary! YIKES! Camille

| Your topic line was just what I needed to see. I have been away from Spark People for a couple of months and have been eating poorly. I need to get going again and I am having a hard time doing so. I have been missing the boards, but not taking the time to get on them. I need to "rekindle!" I will be back later today, I hope, to read this thread some more and think about my goals again. I keep letting emotions run my eating. I had a rough Mother's Day and that has had me on an emotional roller coaster. Thanks for posting this topic!

Hello everyone!
Had a Great Mother's day too! My daughter cooked a roast beef with popovers, mashed potatoes, veggies and a salad. She bought me a mother's day cake a Lemon Chiffon or something like that! Good thing she only bought a small cake enough for all of us to have a piece and then it was gone! We told her fiannce' to eat the cake up as we just wanted a small piece.
I have been getting a few compliments on my weight loss and that sure is an encouragement to keep plugging along!
I've been walking more because the weather is so nice. The treadmill has been idle for some time. Lizzy - I'm from desert country too but north of 49 parallel.

Each day is a challenge. I work to get through each 24 hours staying on my program. Some days are easier than others.
The exercise is helping me mentally and physically. Spring has come to the desert in all its glory and makes for wonderful walking experiences.
Have 3 months until our vacation back East to see relatives whom we haven't seen for 8 years. Hope to be near my goal by then.
This journey towards good health isn't easy but is certainly worth all the effort. When I reach my goal, I will make maintaining that goal a lifetime work!
Hope everyone has a great week!
In support!

Hello there ladies, I have had a good week so far. Feel good, looking for a loss next monday. This week I was up on Monday and down 3 on Tuesday, water gain loss I guess.
Haven't use the measuring tape for a while. Had a great Mothers day weekend. Talked to my daughter Jeanna this morning. Always love hearing from my kids. Washed my hair getting cold have to dry it I guess. It is 57 here not that warm. Have a small roast ready to go in the oven. Have to put it in soon. I feel like my grandma years ago , I feed the chicken ans put coffee on the wood stove, carried water from the well. Don't have much to say! Love hearing your sweet voice on the phone. I have managed to lose 10 of the 52 pounds, I had planed to lose this year. Have to keep on track where I can reach my goal come Jan. 01, 2006
Aunt Bee I didn't lose the 10 all at once. Could have had I dug in and work at losing weight. That is just a drop in the bucket! Have a total of 200 to lose.

Well, being you are from Buffalo--I'm sure you have heard of Utica? I'm from Utica--some people never heard of it so we refer to it as Upstate. I bet you don't miss those cold winters in Buffalo. Utica is just as bad.
My son is marrying a girl from Lockport NY. The wedding will be there a year from July. My son also went to SUNY College of Fredonia! Camille

Camille,
So sorry to hear about your Aunt. It will be a tough week, but you hand in there. Throw a walk or 2 in to help releave some stress. I am having a menopausal week! Good thing I didn't go grocery shopping yet. I over ate for Mothers day but did cook a couple of things that helped me keep the calories more reasonable. Not doing so well on the exercise, but am determined!
Glad everyone had a good mother's day.

Pam and Carlee: I think it's the hardest with weight loss when socializing! It's so easy to pick up the chips and etc. But I keep plugging away! We'll just have to get thru this together.

Pam, Thanks for being so real and so honest -- you are so right, we just have to recognize what the heck we are doing, and try to amend our behavior a little more effectively next time -- then just keep on going forward. Thanks so much! Carlee

Good morning Carlee and Camile.
We really do have similar lives. In my family, it is my husband that is acting out! He is under a lot of stress and takes it out on the rest of the family. There is no talking to him when he is like this. Makes me want a lot of chocolate!!! My best friend had a birthday yesterday and we went to Applebees. I orders the House sirloin (7oz) and the Grilled salmon with two sides of veggies instead of the wonderful potatoes that I really wanted. Unfortunately, I found myself over indulging in the endless chips and salsa that they kept bringing. You could see the grease on the chips, but I couldn't seem to quit. Went home very full and now I want to run on the treadmill all day to try to get them out of my system! Yuck!
We are all going to make it. Maybe not a fast as we want, but none the less we will.
Hope you have a great day!
Pam

Hi All, We all seem to be dealing with so many similar issues: weather, work, and other things in life that we cannot control. This has been true for me also, only for me -- it's been relating to family issues. There is a child who is near and dearly loved in my life. He is having some serious struggles that put him at risk, and he's acting out just enough to make his home life very difficult. Obviously, the whole family is very dear to me. It's difficult as a counselor, to see what it's doing to all of them, and sometimes to me, yet have no power to stop it. I commit it to prayer, but I feel helpless because of our closeness. I know that doesn't make any sense. So, anyway, what I'm trying to say is that we all have things that make us vulnerable to acting out with overeating or making wrong food choices. With me, it's often because I don't give myself emotional space in which to allow myself to just FEEL my feelings. I'm just too darn analytical. That's great on the job, but it doesn't work in real life! So-o-o-o here we can share, talk about things, take time to feel... Have a blessed day! THE WEATHER IS TURNING!
