Another suggestion for the sparkpoints. I find it quite cumbersone to go into the SparkPoints to collect points for a recipe that I'm using/making in my meal planner/nutrition tracker. Could there be a way that it collects the points for you when you add a recipe to your meals for the day? I noticed that you can't collect points if using the recipe more than once, with this built in already, could it not do a check and then give you your points?

Thanx.

That's a good point, but to be honest would be hard to change in the short-term. We'll keep it in mind though! Also, since there is a 5 point daily max for foods tracked, if you track all of your meals you should get close to the max points.

When I add a food grouping (my breakfast) I get one point, not 5 which is the number of foods in my group. Can that be changed other than adding the foods one at a time (I love the convenience)?

Gotcha. It could be the page didn't fully load the first time. Let us know if it happens again, thanks!

I had one today that didn't have the button and twenty seconds later when I went through another link, it was there!
It was the article on "Make Smart Substitutions".
It works fine going through the main Nutrition page but it was one of the links from the other related articles, sorry, I don't know which one now.

Ya, that'd be great if you could write back here with article names where you don't see the SparkPoints button.

I have also run into articles without spark points. I will try to note them and post them here.

I think I know what frustrated is talking about. When I go through the articles recommended for the week that I am in, there is no button to earn spark points. As long as I go through the resource community there is. So there IS a lot reading being prescribed for the level that you are on where we don't earn spark points. Being a big believer in spark points, can this be fixed?

Frustrated,

There should be an icon at the bottom of the article that you click on to receive your points. Have you been doing that and still not getting them?

I've been unable to earn any points for reading articles...is there something wrong with mine, or is there something I may not be doing @ the end when I'm finished? I noticed on some of the sites in Spark Points, when you're done, it says click here to receive your points, but I've found nothing like that while reading articles.

Macov,

You'll get an email in the next few weeks from our Office Manager to confirm your mailing address. She does them in batches, so don't be concerned if it takes a little while- it will get to you!

Hi Jen, on a totally different subject. I made my first 100 posts. Do I have to give any information to get my T Shirt? Let me know.

Thanks Cleo, I did know they were there but for example when SparkPoints changed to the new plan I already had about 4,000+ sparkpoints. I also had a lot of posts and about 400+ days active on the site. The only one that started from zero was my cardio minutes. Since I don't know what number the others started at when this all changed i don't know how many more posts I've had since then and I don't know how many days I've been active since then. It didn't start from zero. Get it? I'm probably explaining badly. It really doesn't matter for me to keep track since the site does it for me, i'm just being anal and I want to know when I'm going to earn some big points.

Pixiepie,

How many days you are active, how many messages you have posted, and your cardio minutes are tracked near the bottom of your SparkPoints page. It took me awhile to find them, too.

It makes sense Dave but I'm not sure I started at 1100 posts to get my points at 1200? I'm also not sure how many days I was active on the site before it started tracking? I guess it doesn't really matter it's just something that I wonder everytime I look at that tracker at the bottom of the points page. Thanks!

Right now there is not a way for you to add those execises to the fitness planner (but eventually we hope to change that). If you want to keep track, you could just check off the boxes in your planner for lower body, upper body and core exercises on the days that you do them.

Hope that helps!

Hi Coach Jen:
Your reply brings up another question. I can't do the strengthening exercises yet that are in your groupings. I am doing the ones that the PT has me doing. How do I count those?

Hi Pixiepie

The bonus points are for every 100 posts. It looks like you are at 1,174 posts. So, after you make your 1,200th post and login to SparkPoints, you will be credited your 50 points. Make sense?

Thanks!

How can I keep track of every 100 posts and how many days I've been active on SP? My total numbers don't really show me from when they started counting for SparkPoints purposes. I think I may have reached 100 posts yesterday but don't know for sure?

Madelein,

I think that refers to exercising every day- it can be just 10 minutes, but that helps you stay consistent and keep a routine, even on the days when you don't have time for a full workout.

I'm always around if you need anything, so just let me know!

It is the long term goals. I actually figured it out after I posted. I was adding short term goals but didn't select a LT. What is the "keeping a streak alive" refer to in short term goals?
BTW-thanks for your words of encouragement in my Daily Post. I have you in mind when I am able to start selecting strengthening exercises (ST goal: June 1st!).

Madelein,

Are you referring to "Fast Break" goals? I think there is a maximum for how many points you can get from those.

U-h-h, I have spun the wheel 4 days and gotten a 20 and a 25. a 2 and a 4. I thought maybe it was motivation for a new person!! It works! I love the wheel!
Question: I create new goals and it doesn't give me points. What could I be doing wrong?
I LOVE this feature! I had no idea of how new it was until I found this message board today.

Hi Karen

Below CLEO25 talked about how she hit her milestones the first few days of May...in the end, it will all work itself out.

Thanks!

I really like to see my SparkPoints add up but I have a question. How on earth does one earn over 1000 SparkPoints in only 9 days? The top person on the leaderboard has that many and I just can't figure it out? Especially since there are caps on everything except getting points for every 100 posts and every 1000 minutes of cardio right? Anyone know the answer to this one?
DJHEILMANN

Hi Jennifer

With the daily points challenges there is a "cap" on the number of SparkPoints you can get each day. For example, with cardio minutes you get 1 point for every 5 minutes, with a maximum of 12 points a day. This means that you can get 12 points for 60 minutes, but any minutes over 60 will not earn you points for that day. However, if someone enters 400 minutes it will go into their bonus minutes.

We appreciate the feedback!

A 25 would be great. My heart stops when I see it on the wheel, a water bottle would also be cool. I usually get a 1.

Sure people are cheating! I was being serious when I said I saw someone putting in 400 minutes yesterday and the day before!! 400 minutes! There is NO WAY this person did 400 minutes! Go see for yourself- check it out under the 10 million minute fitness challenge! It lists what activity and how many minutes people are doing a day! This needs to be fixed!

Jennifer...
I am editing this to add that maybe I shouldn't be taking the SparkPoints too seriously, but I really think that for the vast majority of us on this site, we are busting our butts everyday trying to reach our goals and when some individuals think it is OK to put that they have exercised 800 minutes in 2 days- I think that is totally unfair to the honest people!

I picked up all three sets of bonus points in April but it takes quite a while to get them again, especially for things like being active on the site for 30 days.

I also find it is quite time-consuming and I tend to forget to fill in goals tracked at times.

Could people be cheating? I have been tempted to put down cardio even when I didn't do it. Bad me...

I have spun a 20 on one of my first tries. Now I don't see any 20's...

That's what happened with me--I reached two milestones the first or second of May, 100 posts and 1000 cardio minutes. I too have been wondering how people are getting spark points so quickly. Glad to hear that the problem with the fast break goals have been fixed.

Ok, I think the new SparkPoints feature is great! But I have noticed there are some people putting in like 400 cardio minutes a day!!!! That just seems to me totally unbelievable! At first I thought it may be a typo- like they meant to put in 40 minutes, but then the next day they did it again!!! This totally would be giving someone an unfair advantage, because they would be earning 50 cardio points every 3 days!!! That is not fair to everyone who is being honest in my opinion!!! Just wondered what everyone else thought of this.. Oh, and I am not talking about the people who catch up for the week! Like the ones who put in all their activity for the week in one day, that is fine by me. It is the ones who say they have worked out for over seven hours everyday that is concerning me!

Is it ok to post suggestions for other ways we could "earn" SparkPoints? I think it'd be a great motivator for me if we could earn a few points for every day that we're under our goal calories. I have my calorie limit set up as a check mark goal, but it would be SO much more effective to have it as a point earner. Just a thought....
