Hi Bonnie - I think I'm developing skills the way you did - I just had to relate the clean sink one - it's so typical of some of my evenings... I do find myself becoming more organized naturally (if that's possible!) just because of SP - so that's just an added benefit. I do have some extra time this summer and I'm trying very hard to make things happen... So - I'm off to clean up the kitchen, call my mom, and then settle down to knit on a baby hat - can't eat because I need to keep the yarn clean! LOL - I'll do a lot to make my goals. Have a good week - LindaK

I have found that as a result of using Sparkpeople, losing weight, doing the tracking , and exercising regularly, that I have naturally become more organized and also have more energy (That helps a lot!!!) I also checked in with flylady, but I find their email mostly annoying now and one more thing to keep me from doing what I really should be doing---they were a nice little jumpstart at first tho. Flaylady is a big typo foul up. I was supposed to type Flylady. www.flylady.net is a site that helps you when your home is in CHAOS. Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. Sorry about the bad typing Barb

Linda, I also do Flaylady, love it. I have learned many things I wish I had formed as habits so long ago. My main hot spot that makes me crazy is my kitchen counter. It gets piled up with stacks of paper and mail. I clean it up and it grows right back. I am determined to find a system that helps me stay ahead of this. I also found a group called Change Your Life Challenge. It helped me identify the areas in my life that needed the most attention, nutrition and exercise. Haven't worked thru all the steps, but it has already helped me prioritize. Barb

Thanks, ladies - I try very hard to keep counters clean, but they just seem to grow - I think part of my problem (yep, I'm going to call it a problem!) is that I am so easily distracted by all the neat things happening around me and I just don't finish one thing before going on to another. I also have a tendency to "work" in the kitchen on school work - so before I go back I'm going to figure out where I can work instead. My husband makes beautifully clean counters - unfortunately I can't always figure out where my "stuff" is piled! It's good to hear others feel similarly - I, too, have seen homes that were spotless, but most of those had maids and children who didn't play inside ever... or their parents entertained for business constantly. I am beginning to think that I don't need all the stuff I have and that it's time to move on - for example, there's that pile of weight watcher magazines that I probably only want 5 pages out of - that would be a great thing - will keep you posted on progress, ladies! I have to admit that setting a goal of at least 30 minutes of lawn mowing each day has been fantastic for me - it's great exercise and I'm really appreciating how nice the lawn looks - we've had enough rain that there's grass to cut pretty regularly. It's also inspired me to try a few gardening projects, too - and it's all great cardio work for me. Talk to you soon - Linda

Setting goals for organization, I like this great idea. I think I will do this too! And to make a priority notebook sounds good to me. That way as things are checked off as finished,I will feel like I've made progress.Of course weightloss is #1 on the list.

Linda We could probably all use a little organization in our lives. I have always prtended that everyone else lives in those magazine cover houses with a place for everything and everything in its place. My children when growing up tried to convince me that our house was much cleaner than anyone else they knew. I did not find any consolation in that, afterall I did not live in those houses. I am not a neat freak, I do like to have the counters clean.
If I set one goal it would be to not have the kitchen counter grow to stacks of "stuff" by Saturday each week.
Good Luck with your organization goals. Deana

I'm really happy with the way I've been working on building good exercise and nutrition habits over the past 5 weeks - am thinking now that I need to use some of these same tools to overhaul my "life" so that I can be more productive and maybe even stay on task with these changes - LOL - I do share some traits with my middle school students! So - this week I'm going to do the following: Inside: 1. Clean sinks every night (this came from flylady which came from another SP) - since it's only the two of us, there are some nights when it's really easy considering finishing up the kitchen clean up in the morning - that means putting away the dishes in the dishwasher so that anything after the supper dishes goes in a dirty dishwasher... she's right - it does make the kitchen look better and it's a healthy habit, certainly. 2. Daily mail sorting - today I went through and cut out coupons and shredded junk mail with names - I had let it pile up... 3. Find a place to "store" my in-progress crafts - right now it's one of my sofas in the family room and that just isn't working - it does look pretty chaotic over there... and I'm sure I have a pretty basket in all my junk 4. 2 minute refrigerator run through - is there anything in there that needs to go down the disposal - why wait for garbage day? 5. Brush the dogs every day - I have 3 jack russell terriers and this seems to be the month for them to shed - guess I'll attack them with their hair brush and get some quality time in with them, too! Oh my - these five things could make a difference - I think I'll give them a try. LindaK
