Hi All, and welcome newcomers and recents!!!! TAKE HEART!EVERY HUFF AND PUFF, EVERY STRETCH AND STRUGGLE is SO WORTH IT! When we are at our biggest, it's like we have our own little gym attached. Every time we move an arm, a leg, make a circle with our ankles, wrists, bend, stretch --- we are starting out on some automatic "weight training". Later, when we lose some pounds, we can add some real weights (like light 1 or 2 pounders from a discount store, and work up to heavier ones as we get stronger). Don't underestimate your strength! It takes a lot of strength and endurance to carry around the weight we have accumulated. As you begin to lose little by little, that weight is released as more energy, which in turn -- we can put to use as increased activity. CELEBRATE EVERY MOMENT OF GOOD CHOICES! WE ARE SO BLESSED, AT LEAST WE HAVE CHOICES! Discouragement is high in calories, and is not on our food plans! We have nothing better to do in our lives, than keep at it. If we keep at it day after day. Someday we will be thin, guaranteed. If we keep eating the same old ways we used to eat, we will keep gaining, guaranteed. FOR ME, when I need a boost I cut more carbs, go for a walk, eat more protein, drink more water, and go to a funny movie -- even if I have to make myself watch it because it's so stupid! I've missed you all. One computer's in the shop, I'm swamped at the work, I helped my daughter move, and I'm going through a very late mid-life crisis --- "this too shall pass"! Love You All! Carlee

I agree Carlee........a half a pound is really something to cheer about!! It shows hard work and perserverance and that is so important in anything we do........just think, 5 half pounders is 10 lbs.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi Lizzy and Friends!

ISN'T IT AMAZING HOW LOSING A HALF A POUND CAN MAKE YOUR MORNING? That is an example of how much I, too, appreciate sharing with others who understand my struggles. Some might look at my size, and think a half a pound? That's a "drop in a bucket"... NOT to me, it's a triumph! Love you all, have a pleasing day. Carlee

Hi, Carlee, and everyone!

Aren't we great! In our 60's and more determined
than ever to be the best we can be!

We all have good days and bad days. That's just
life. If we can convince ourselves not to get
too comfortable with the excess weight we're
all carrying, we can push on down that road
to good health.

I am so thankful for the communication here
on the Spark between beautiful women who can understand my emotions, fears, attitudes, etc.
about life and this constant struggle to lose
this weight. I get so tired at times and my
goals seem far away. Just have to shake it off
and get back on track!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Thanks to all of you for being here when I
need to vent.

Hugs to all!

Lizzy

Hi Aunt Bee,

You are MUCH MORE VALUABLE than your "accomplishments"... glad you are not giving up over such a small matter as accomplishments. You have incredible value as a person. You are a blessing to the people in your life (including the people you touch through SPARKPEOPLE). It's easy to feel blah through late winter, especially on a cloudy day! YOU ARE A PRECIOUS CHILD OF GOD. YOU ARE AWESOME!

Hello everyone, I have not accomplished a lot this year. But I haven't given up on my self.

Welcome to Sparkpeople
To day is cloudy, it is warming up some, so we may have a nice day in spite of the rain.

Yesterday Debbie and her family had a wonderful visit and played games, Debbie daughter gave Angel a bath. We had chicken sandwitches. Was a very good day.

I want to thank each of you for your welcome messages. I really appreciate finding this peer group forum. I'm not as far along as some of you, but I really want to get there, and I really want to maintain it when I do. It's so important to have a forum to discuss the real issues of living, both happy and sad. For us, these can be the very things that led us back to uncontrolled eating in the past. Believe it or not, I once worked for a weight loss organization after losing over 100# (this was many years ago -- BC I believe). I looked great, and I could 'parrot' out the do's and don'ts of the program, but I was a neurotic mess. The program did not teach how to deal with BEING THIN! It was all about food, and nothing about FEELINGS. I was this (I was going to say BIG ball, but for those very few years, I was actually a SKINNY) BALL OF FEELINGS -- and FEARS that I didn't know what to do with. It even destroyed my marriage (not just being thin, but my confusion about being thin). Thank god, people are willing to talk about the real thing now. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE! Have an excellent day, all the way! Carlee

Hey, Aunt Bee, I think I found the road (Beginner's Luck). It's been a rough week. The death of a close friend of the family, some unpredictable family issues, and work stress. Tomorrow morning I head for Columbus to be with the grieving family, do computer work in the hotel room, and hopefully put this...ample...body in a bathing suit in public. Ah, I can feel it now. I need a swim. Yeah, I'm stressed. I'm so grateful for these forums. God bless each and every one of you, and all the daily struggles and joys you face. YOU ARE AWESOME!!! SWEET DREAMS.
