I know this weight loss is going to take time and I am finding it is a life change. I am learning to eat correctly. I have always used food as a comfort and I am not going to do that anymore. I have lost about 6 pounds, which I am ecstatic. I have been walking and swimming. I can even do 5 push-ups. I just keep going and it is nice to have the encouragement from others who are working on the same problem.

hi all! I'm NOT retired from nursing...still active as a school nurse + second job at a nursing home (which I work full-time now over the summer) it's not easy to make the changes to lose the weight, JANL, but I know you can do it. when I started at SPARK, I decided that I couldn't do it if tofu and bean sprouts was all I could eat. so I took the time to enter the REAL foods that I do eat...then I bought a kitchen scale & for the first time in my life I actually measured food going onto my plate....what a shock! but I've found now that I can have the foods I like...I just can't have the portions I used to have....like, you really DON'T need a whole pound of bacon to make a BLT!!!! kidding, but not really...my eye for portions was totally distorted and that was my problem. the FOOD I was eating was healthy, but the AMOUNT wasn't. have lost about 15 lbs since Feb and haven't felt deprived while doing it. best of luck.

Welcome to SP. I hope you enjoy this site and feel the motivation it can provide. I have been here since March 2 and lost 20 pounds. I've got 80 to go. So will be here for awhile.

Good luck and have fun.

Hi all, I am new to sparks. I live in Iowa and I am retired from nursing. Love to read mysteries and romance stories. I have a dog that I walk with, as we both need the exercise. I play golf and during the winter I bowl. I just cant seem to get into the swing of changing my eating patterns. I have been on many different diet plans and lose weight but always seem to regain it. Hopefully I can change this pattern and lose, as health could be much better.
