D,

It does take weight into account, but the "calculations" for that do not go as high as 500 lbs. So after a certain point, it will give people the same numbers.

You know, I'm not sure the exercise calorie calculations are correct... My stepdad is over 500 lbs and he "burns" the same amount of calories in a 60 minute walk as I do on the site... it should take your weight into account...

What might make it even more convenient to spellcheck your food search terms is to add a spellchecker toolbar button to your web browser. I have one on my Internet Explorer. I don't remember where I dowloaded it from, but I googled "free spellchecker toolbar" and came up with this site: www.iespell.com. I haven't checked it out, but you might want to look into it. It says it's free and doesn't add any adware or spyware.

i think so..spinach.
when i can't find something in the food tracker i often think it's my spelling so i hop into a word document or outlook where i keep the auto spell checker on and i just check there. it's helped me out several times.

I did go back and check and obviously it was a PEBKAU Error (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And User Error) as APPLE was there, right on top as you said it would be. I know I've had other problems in the past and I guess after double checking my focus, I will resubmit if I reencounter them. Thanks for the help.

I do think, though, that it the database should be better organized. I have figured out how to declutter it to make my searches easier, but even alphabetizing would make it easier to navigate. For instance, today I was searching for McDonald's foods, and forgot to click only these words. I ended up scrolling down and thrown in the middle of the list was Dennys! Where did that come from!

I understand it would be somewhat of a big job, but organizing the foods better would certainly make things easier to find.

Thanks for hearing me out, too!

If you search for "apple," the first result you should see is "apples, fresh." You can go ahead and choose this.

We try to have our database as complete as possible, because we feel people can be free to choose different foods to eat, but by measuring and tracking them they will see what foods are good for their diet and which are not.

I really do love Spark People but I do have a big problem with some of it's asspects. The most reoccuring problem I have is with the pre-entered food choices in the calorie tracking database. For example, when I type in the word "APPLE", I am presented with more than 3 dozen foods with the word apple in it and not one of the choices is the actual fruit.

I have encountered this on multiple times when entering my fruits, vegies, and other foods that are healthy. I don't think that it is unreasonable of me to think that these food choices should be included in the nutrional database, not just the junk that seems to predominate the database. Okay, my vent is over and I feel much better.
