First off, awesome job Dave and Josh on the site. It is so chock full of cool features and so easy to use. Very impressive. Here are some minor UI suggestions from a fellow software developer and usability advocate:
In the "Add a food" dialog, can you make the focus start in the search box, so we can start typing as soon as we launch it?
In the "Add favorite foods" tab, can you use a listbox instead of a combo box to display more favorites?
On the "Daily planner", can you automatically copy today's calories as a default value? I use this regularly at night and always forget to look at my calories first. Users could still change this, but it would be good to have as a default value.
Here's an interesting one - on the Journal, users can't select/edit an entry if it doesn't have a title. Can you let users edit an entry by clicking on the icon, not just the title?
Also in the "Other Goals", when "write in a journal" is one of your goals, it would be cool if it had a link to your online Journal (Planner) page.
Ok and one last one: when searching the site, it would be nice to have a "site map" type section (in addition to Articles, Message Boards, etc), so that newbies could search for site features (e.g. "journal").
Whew! Thanks for considering these. They're mostly pretty minor, and would enhance the already awesome experience of using SparkPeople.com.
