Thank you everyone for all the excellent tips. I have been using them I had frozen fruit last evening and it was very good. This has been a very stressful week for me because of my cat and my Dads final tax preparations had to be done. I picked up the final papers today which means all the accouting has been done. It's so final and the realization hit me that my Dad is really gone. I've been so busy getting his Estate ready and there has been an ongoing dispute with his other child and now everything is slowed at least until Sept when it goes to court. Being so busy I didn't really have time to grieve and when I felt myself "feeling" I would do something else to take mind off of it. Now everything is done and I am going to have to let go over the grief. I know I will feel better once I do this and I am sure my dietary habits will improve 100%.
Once again thank you all for the wonderful suggestions.

hi tilly ~ we all keep our water handy! bottles, glasses, cups, sippee cups - we've all got 'em! fruit isn't something we eat constantly - it's a treat and within our calorie limitations. it's refreshing, sweet, and a good substitution for candy or donuts. God's peace, beth

| Hi, I keep sipping my large Sheetz soda cup through a straw, keeping it filled with ice and fresh water. ,works for me.

I have absolutely been ADDICTED to the frozen mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries)!
But then I bought a bag of frozen mangoes this past week. So now when I pour my cup of mixed berries, I add in a few of the mangoes in the bunch.
Remember, if you eat the fruit straight out of the bag, you're going to be eating it s-l-o-w-l-y since it's frozen. I have also thrown it in the micro for about 30 seconds to slightly thaw it, but you'll still be eating (and savoring) it slowly!

Have to agree ladykaty - fruit is the BOMB! I got a bag of frozen mixed berries and had some this morning - very refreshing! I buy apples, pears, grapes, oranges, melons and make my own fruit cups on occasion. God's peace, beth

| To take my mind off snacking - I remember how fat I was, one year ago and 50 lbs heavier!
| The high cost of gasoline is keeping my snacking in line. How? I refuse to buy unhealthy snacks when I grocery shop so I would have to make a special trip to the store. I am not driving unless it it is absolutely necessary. If I decide to go when it is not grocery day I decided I have to walk to the store. It's a two mile round trip so the snack had better be worth it!! Have you tried Incrediples? It's a snack dip make with yogurt.. Only 30 cal. in two TBSP. very good with veggies or baked chips for those time you have to have a bite.

sunshine - keeping your hands busy IS another good way to keep your mind off eating! I weave on plastic canvas and get so involved sometimes, that i stay up way past bedtime. i've discovered that keeping busy with big or little things is just another key to success. if we can keep these new habits for a lifetime, we will succeed! God's peace, beth

| munching is good! IF you munch on the right stuff. when you've just got to - head for the old standbys - celery or carrots or rice cakes. have a few and find something to do. i go online and get so busy chatting with friends that i forget to eat! before i know it, it's bedtime and the munchies are gone for another day. water, of course, helps, also tea (unsweetened).

| In the evenings, I go online with spark, and then often I'll go to bed with a good book, & fall asleep!!!
Drink water, go for a walk, get on Spark, make a phone call( then I walk while I'm on the phone!!!) I also let myself have a piece of dark chocolate if it won't go away. It's my favorite and it's even good for you in moderation!!!

| Yoga, read, come here to SP for inspiration, crochet, work on a craft, listen to music, cook a healthy meal/snack,take in my h2o,take a walk in nature,brush/floss my teeth,do some reading for my job, call a friend/family member, take a nap,do e-mails,do research,if none of that works eat a piece of whatever. I have found that total deprivation for me leads to unhealthy eating. Just plan for a piece of good chocolate or a 100 calorie pack of a salty snack.

Lately I have been logging on to SP. Keeps my hands busy and I will be starting my seedlings this weekend which keeps be busy for the better part of the summer.
