Granddad in his Deputies uniform, wouldn't let grandmaw spank me for almost burning the house down.He had said earlier in the day (with me on his sholders) that someone should burn the old furniture we had just replaced and moved out beside the house. He took the blame, said I always did what he said.Miss him to this day,he was my supperman.

| My Grandma also told me how pretty I was, and she, herself was a beautiful woman. I know I'd tell her how pretty she was and she'd say, "I'm pretty twice, pretty ugly and pretty apt to stay that way." Nothing could have been further from the truth. She was truly a beautiful woman both inside and out. I strive to be like her. My shortcoming is a rotten temper, tho! Never saw Grandma angry unless someone was threatening to hurt her babies!!

| My Grandma belonged to a quilting group and I would get under the quilting frame, just being a kid, and all her old lady friends would tell her to get me out from under there, but Grandma always said "Let her be, she's not hurting anything". I remember how sweet and gentle she was about all things.

My Nan had a stroke at 38 which left her paralized on one side. I remember spending holidays with her and in the summer I would stay with her for two or three weeks. I used to love for her tell me stories about my Mom and her twin sister when they were growing up and lived in Newfoundland.

My Grandma: I lived with my Grandma and Papa during my kindergarten year. After that, I spent weekends with her. She always bought the biggest, juicy-est oranges for me as a treat! She had the most beautiful creamy complexion.
My Granny: I saw my Granny for holidays and several weeks in the summer. She cooked pinto beans EVERY single day and washed our clothes by hand a few times. I remember her poor reddened hands from doing that. (She was from the country.)

My Grandma was as deaf as a stone, but she could read lips, so we still got in trouble for saying things!!!! She could keep us in line, mostly because she was such a sweetie that we hated to do anything to upset her. We did learn real young to turn around if we wanted to say something we didn't want her to "hear".

My Granny (as we called her) was wheelchair bound from the time she was in her mid thirties until she died. At one point she lived with us (no small feat since we were a family of 9 kids). What amazes me to this day is her power to discipline us kids from that wheelchair. When we did something wrong she would call our name in a stern voice and we would actually come to her knowing that she was going to give us a wack on the hand or the bottom. That was power.
My favorite memory is of the times she would make homemade wine (really more like grape juice). She would have us put what seemed like tons of grapes in a large wash tub, clean our feet, and stomp the grapes until they were juice and mush. I loved it and the wine wasn't too bad either.

My Grandma's
Grandma ( Dad's Mom ) I didn't get to know her well, parents divorced. Thanks to the most wonderful step father, in the world. I got to know my Grandma Ida some. I truly love that sweet, half Indain and Irish woman.
My Grandma May! My mother mother, lived with us or we lived with them, most of my growing up years. My mother died when I was 21 years old. My Grandma May, lived to be almost 92 years young. I loved that women. I regreat, not visiting, her more often while she was alive.
Being an empty nester now, I understand the lonely ness she may have felt at times after us grandchildren grew up! My most happy memories were of living on our farm in Arkansas.

I miss my Grandma Nancy, who was by far the best role model any little girl could have. She was sweet-tempered, forgiving, and loved us unconditionally. I remember playing dress-up at her house with my cousin-Grandma kept a box with fancy dresses and hats and high heels and gloves and we definitely thought we were the cat's meow! Also had tea parties with water for tea, and cookies. I still have one of the little green glass tea cups and the saucer. She's been gone for 37 years but I still miss her like it was yesterday.

| I really miss my granny (my kids called her that). We lived next door to my Grandma and Step Grandfather. Grandma was the best...she always smelled so good, wore bright red lipstick and died her hair as black as coal!! We marveled at her sparkling costume jewelry, and raided her sugary orange slices that she kept next to her chair! She always told me what a great mother I was..when I doubhted myself! I really miss her! Thanks for letting us share on this thread!

You are all lucky to have such good memories of your grandparents. Both sets of mine passed away when I was very young all I remember was when grandma used to wake up crying out because her legs hurt so bad due to cancer but she passed away with both legs intact. So because of no memories I want to make sure my GD gets all the love from me so when she gets older she will have great memories of her grandma Happy easter everyone

I second your sentiments. I would not be the person that I am today if it were not for the positive influence of both my grandmothers. They were truly gracious, loving, spiritual women who loved their families with all their hearts (warts and all) unconditionally. Blessed Easter!!!

I had a wonderful Grama, she lived on a farm and we lived in a little town a few miles away. In the spring the little chicks would come from the hatchery, I loved those little chicks. My Grama would let me go home with her until the chicks were not so cute. I still love little chicks they and Gramas are just the best.

Both of my grandmothers were wonderful. One of them I was really close to, I grew up next door to her. I would spend the night with her a lot. I learned about cooking from her, the rolls always had to be homemade. She was a tremendous influence on me, she went back to college after she had children and got a degrees in Hyrolic engineering and meterology. She was the first woman to work for a Hydroelectric dam as an engineer. Donna
