| Hi MistyLou - Welcome to Spark. I'm 55 from upstate New York. This is a great web site. The spark points are really just to encourage you to keep coming back. I've heard that sometimes they have prizes on the wheel, but haven't seen them yet myself (T-shirt, water bottle , etc.) The community is encouraging and supportive. I have been here since about February 14, it took me two to three weeks to get use to all the tools and there is so much information. I am 57, I have lost 28 lbs, mostly before SP. I am finding this so much easier than writing a log and I get the bonus of all the support. My daughter, who is 22, and I workout abt 3 times a week, we started back in October. I am much healthier than I have been in years. Good luck with your goals! Deana

Hello Highnoon, Wow! I think 5 pounds is really good. Try to visualize pounds of butter. Five of those gone is great! I lost 3 but today find I've put on 2lbs.?? What bums me out is that I didn't cheat and my calorie intake was below the recommended amount. By the way, I'm also 61. Guess I'll just have to try harder? Maybe walk more?

Hi Mistylou and welcome to sparkpeople. I am 61 years old and have been here for a month and have only managed to lose 5 pounds. There is lots of information here so it takes some time to put it all together. I have 60 pounds to go so will be here a long time. The points are just for encouragement.

Hi Misty: Welcome! I found that it took me a while to find and use all the terrific resources available on this site. Just keep plugging away and you will get there.I've been on here for about 3 weeks and I'm still finding new and interesting items. Nothing else has worked for me but I'm sure Sparkpeople will be all I need to finally shed poundage!!

| MistyLou, I am 57 and from Arkansas. I found this website about 8 days ago and love it. It certainly helps me to count my calories and monitor my exercise to determine how many calories that I have burned up. This is a great website to use and think you will enjoy it. I have about 25 lbs to lose. I started in mid January and have lost 12 of my 25. It is slow and sometimes discouraging, but I am sticking with it. Changing my eating habits is the only way to accomplish my goal. I wish you luck. Gloria

Hello, I am 56 years old and just found this site. I need to loose some wieght about 30 to 40 pounds. I live in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan in a very small village.
