57+ here and 7 yrs past "the change". there are several things that happen as we age....and they all involve putting on weight it seems. during and after menopause, your hormone levels change dramatically (a natural event). at the same time, your metabolism is slowing down (a natural event). so it all comes down to your body conspiring against you (a natural event if you allow it!!) I know the feeling of looking at a bag of potato chips and just seeing them leap onto hips/thighs....the very same chips that I USED to eat 3 times a day and maintained a weight of 122 lbs for years and years and years. now....160 but heading back down. I too love the fact that I can see not only how many calories I'm putting in my mouth every day, but WHERE those calories are coming from. good luck and don't get discouraged.

| Joanney, I am 57 years old and I don't know if going through the change is the problem or just that my metabolizm has changed, but I have put on weight the last 5 years since retirement. Like all of a sudden it was there OVERNIGHT and could not seem to make it go away. This website has been most helpful to me because I am counting calories and exercising. I love the fact it tells me how many calories I have burned by doing whatever I am doing at the time. This gives me encouragement. I hope it will for you too. Gloria

Hello everyone. I am new to the site and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 50 years old and going through the "change". It is crazy. I used to eat what I wanted... gain the weight... then exercise for a few months and it was gone. Now, I am exercising and dieting and still gaining. I don't know what to do. I am hoping that this site will get me on the right track. I started tracking my eating and now do 30 minutes of cardio a day. I haen't started the strenght training yet but I plan on that today as well.
Anybody else having problems with the change?
Have a good day. Joanney
