Hi everyone I know I'm a day or so late, but I lost 3lbs and at that stand still for almost 4weeks I just naver gave in. I thought my scale was broke and was going to throw it out, but my hubbie wouldn't let me. Now I feel better and started working out more. I feel great.

I have the same problems, lots of meds, hypothyroid, over 50, lots of aches and pains, and lots of weight to lose. I gained over 4 years so I can't expect to lose in 1 month. So far since joing sparks I have lost 6 pounds (if my scale is correct), I will see at the Dr. on monday. I sure hope so, as my liver is depending on me to make it healthy again! Hang in there everyone! I have found that by having my hubbie move my treadmill to the living room, I can enjoy tv with him and exercise at the same time. That keeps me busy so I can not think about food, or eat! It makes exercising go by so quick as before you know it, an hour is up and I didn't even realize it as I was watching my favorite show. What is the fat resistance diet? I would be very interested in reading about it, as I am having trouble losing. I was on the Adkin's diet for 2 months and never lost a pound, or turned the stick purple! Happy Losing!

you know everything you've been doing may be just enough to keep you sustained and from not gaining weight.. maybe try kikin' it all up a notch or two sit ups, or whatever exercises you doI'm no pro ..so this is only a suggestion kick EVERYTHING up a notch or two ...go for the burn..keep the cardio up a little longer ,..but as always be carfull.

Hi Tracup52 ~
Good idea ~ I have not recorded my measurements but it would probably be very helpful.
I really focused on getting my mall walks in this week ~ even on Saturday, which makes for a tough walk! At least the knees held out

We're having wonderful weather in New Jersey!
How is everyone doing?
I'm making a lot of changes, and lost 2 and1/2 pounds this week which is really a lot for me.
I'm using the "fat resistance diet", which I started last Saturday, and it seems to be making a difference. You can check it out at
www.fatresistancediet.com
I'm also walking more and adding in some Yoga. Hope you are all doing well.

You may have been replacing fat with muscle.

Don't give up!

You were given some good advice. Speak to the staff see what they have to say.

Hi Kat,

Welcome to the thread. Don't get upset at not losing. Just go back and check and double check what you have been eating and your exercises. I went almost 6 weeks without losing and I had been able to lose over the holidays, but then I hit the plateau in Jan, and this past week, I finally lost weight. So hang in there with us, and don't let discouragement in. Just hold up your pretty head and know that you can do this.

Hi Kat ~
I finally dropped 1 and 1/2 pounds :o)
I had actually been down to this weight shortly after starting in November, but getting through family parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, put me up (just a little higher, because Spark People kept me focused) but since February nothing was moving. Must admit, I was not moving too much either. The message from HIGHNOON made me take a closer look at my Fitness diary. Thank you HighNoon!
Started the Fat Resistance Diet on Saturday and Mall walked for 30 minutes today and I'm feeling so much more motivated. I'm starting a "time" journal so that I can schedule exercise, cooking, etc. Don't give up ~ there is HOPE!
The picture of your Kitty looks like my Misty.

Congratulations Lindalee!
It's nice to know that it really can happen ;o)
One of the problems we've had since my husbands retirement is that we eat out far too often.
That will have to change ~ finding time in my already busy schedule for meal planning, shopping, cooking and clean up as well as adding in more exercise is difficult, but with God's grace, not impossible. I need a time-management plan!

Hello Ladies!
I would like to join this thread as I, too am not seeing ANY weightloss as yet (4 weeks into plan).

I do have hypothyroid, but stable on meds. This is just so frustrating! People talk about how SLOW their weight loss is over the age of 50.....I would gladly accept SLOW right now....I'll accept ANYTHING!

I go to a 60 minute water aerobics class 3nights a week and sweat my brains out!
Keeping track of EVERYTHING I put in my mouth!
And still.......NOTHING

It is so tempting to just give up! But I'm not gonna do that!
How are the rest of you handling this?

Kat

Hi Mistysmom, I have lost very little weight for the length of time I have been trying. Every week that I don't lose as much as I would have liked I try to figure out why. This week came the realization that my portion size needed work, a lot of work. When I track exercise I find lots of times that I was just short. So even if I am sometimes sorry for me that I didn't lose much I'm happy because I sure have been learning lots. Maybe you can use the site like that till you start losing weight each and every week as I'm sure we will.

Hi, Mistysmom,

Well, It finally happened for me. I lost 2 pounds this week. So it can be done. I just hope you continue to hang in there. Don't give up hope, maybe a little tweaking of your diet. Do you eat at night? Or are you a morning person?

You are the first person I have ever met who does cryptograms. Most people look at me like I am crazy and ask what I am doing. They seem to think you have to be so intellectual to do them, but I have done them so long, I can now read the word patterns. It used to take me 6 months to do a book and now if I work at it very hard, it will take me two months.

Well, you hang in there and I will be rooting for you. If I can lose, anyone can. So keep on keeping on.

Do you all print the menus out here and follow them daily? I find I can lose on that alone, without exercise. I do exercise some tho. I am slowly working up to more.

Are you eating at the low or high end of your calorie intake??? Eat it all, don't skimp. If you don't eat enough, your body will think it is starving and not let the weight go.

How much water are you drinkning?

I can really relate to your post. I am not doing well either and it is not through lack of trying... Age must have something to do with it but it is sooo discouraging.

Sounds like you need a new program, goals and alot of commitment,is your scales broke? sometime we have to bite the bullet, try harder, the only thing you have to lose is weight.

Hi Lindalee ~
Thanks for your response. We have a lot in common.
I've been married for 41 years. John was in sales ~ much like being at sea ;-)
We do love to travel, and I also love to read and enjoy cryptograms. I did pretty well on my "new plan" today ~ Please keep in touch.

Hi Mistysmom,

I can identify with the not losing. I am going to weigh in tomorrow and if I don't lose any weight it will be going on 7 weeks for me. Like you , I am determined not to give up. I, too have arthritis and some days it is just not possible to exercise, especially when it gets colder.

I am very fortunate to have a loving husband who loves me no matter what and I count that as a wonderful blessing. We have been married 44 years and we have gone through thick and thin with each other. But he is dearer to me today than he was when we married.

So hang in there and I will stick with you and try to give you encouragement. Have a great weekend.

I am really baffled. I have kept track of food and exercise just about every day since November 7th, and here it is March 4th and I've basically lost NOTHING! I am determined, and somehow have not given up hope ~ and I know I've not been exercising enough. The exercise presents a challange due to chronic lung problems, leg, knee and foot problems ~ and walking is my exercise of choice. I need to work on scheduling time every day for yoga, stretching and the like. And as of today, I am beginning to drastically change my eating habits. I'm reading The Fat Resistance Diet and it seems to fit, and although it is quite a change, having given up coffee, bread and desserts for Lent, the timing is good to give this a shot. The program was created for inflamation (i.e. arthritis) and weight loss was an added benefit. Since I have arthritis, it may be a two-fold blessing. I'll let you all know the results.
