It will help, just start slow, and listen to your body, don't over do,but exspect to be a little sore at the first.

I had a cesarean with my last child who is 20 now, and one year later a hysterectomy. My stomach muscles were shot. Now, I have skin that just hangs there, will exercise help that, or am I stuck with this even with weight loss..

Hi Lady: I'm 60,bad back(3 surgerys)I still do crunches, but you with the neck problem,Try these, you'll find them in the core exercises, and some in the Abs. Leg lifts setting in a chair Reverse crunches lower abs Stright leg lifts Hope this helps, take it slow at first, these do not require any movement or stress on the neck.

Hi Glen!
That's an interesting question, and one that I don't know I'm qualified to answer
I would recommend you post it in the Diet and Nutrition forum, where Becky, our dietitian can give you an educated response.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the motivation Jen, as always. Do you have an opinion about lowering carbs for shrinking fat around the middle. NOT atkins lo-carb diet, but more the ideas someone like Diana Schwarzbein lays out in her books re isulin resistant, etc? I'm followiing the SP plan, counting calories and watching portion size, etc. But I do kinds of keep carbs in the back of my mind, but never going below SP's recommended. Just curious.

Lady,
There is no way to target weight loss to specific areas of the body, but the way to lose overall fat is cardio exercise. Your body will decide where it wants to take the weight off, but hopefully, it will eventually come from those areas. Ab exercises are great to help strengthen and tone your core, but you won't see that toning until the excess fat is gone- which comes off through cardio.
Hope that helps!
