Glencor - to answer your question -
"Ground flax seed is a good source of lignans and Omega 3, 6, and 9, as well as both soluble and insoluble fibre." Rich in potassium. Contains Vitamin E.

I sprinkle 2 tablespoons flaxseed on my oatmeal every morning. It's good sprinkled on your salad. It is purchased as whole flax seeds at the grocery store bulk section, or perpackaged by brand name. Flax seeds can be ground in your coffee grinder and stored in the refrigerator. Not sure of the shelf life. FLAX SEED - one of the good fats.
FLAX SEED-good natural source of omega-3.
Excellent source of dietary fibre.

I can't really give you any specific advice I just know that in 9 weekas I have stayed right within 100 cal of my low end goal and have ever gone over on carbs, etc. I try to eat alot more fruits and veggies and take a one a day vitamin, one viactive calcium chew, one tblspn Benefiber, and one tblspon flax oil and one tblspn. ground flax seed. Thses additives help keep me full and add all kinds of healthy additions without really eating alot more.

Hi Diva, my suggestion is to work on one thing at a time. Try getting the calories right, then work on the nutrients.

I'm still working on getting below the recommended calorie allotment, AND getting in the necessary nutrients, especially calcium and fiber. Planning definitely is needed!

I like the idea of planning the night before. I have been in the same boat, 200 cal below the recomended limit, and have gone crusing in the kitchen, but that can lead to trouble so I am up to planning my food for the next day

Thanks. I'll try that. I found today that after I entered what I had eaten today I hadn't even hit 1000 calories so there I was in the kitchen looking for things to eat that would meet the calorie intake and not put me over the other ranges. I did it though!

I plan ahead. For instance, I may plan the next day's meals the night before while I watch television. Also, I think it gets easier as time goes by.

So, any ideas out there as to how to reach the calorie intake goal and still stay within the other goals, especially carbs and fat? I have to watch my carbs and fats due to cholesterol and triglycerides so finding enough food to reach 1200-1500 calories is hard without adding the carbs and fat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
