Hi Wanda
Wanted to check to see how you are doing. After "wobbling" this weekend, I am back on track. I didn't lose any weight last week...but I did not gain any either! I am OK with that. Even getting more bike riding in and some strengthening exercises.
Hope all is going well for you. Remember...we are going to succeed!

Good evening Wanda,
I am back on track today. I may fall below suggested calories however...I have been feeling like I have the flu. Have really been fighting it and am feeling better but food isn't real appealing. I think some chicken noodle soup sounds better than anything tonight.
I have only been on bike twice. I know what you mean though. I feel better after spending even a little time on it. I had two on my granddaughters again today as there was no school. I biked and played checkers with one of them. "Took care of two birds with one stone"! Ha!
Take care

Hi Nancy
Just a few lines before bed. It seems I have been so busy that I couldn't find time to get on the computer for the last couple of days. I haven't been real faithful to my diet or my exercise the last two days but am not getting discouraged have. I also have been over calories but will get back to the plan tomorrow. How is the bike ridiing going? Sometimes I realy have to push myself to get on it but always feel better even if I only do 5 or 10 min. Well gotta go so talk later.

Hi Wanda....haven't seen you post for a couple of days. Hope everything is going well for you.
Today has been my worst day...over calorie count by about 100...haven't eaten right...feel like I have the flu. I am praying it will be gone by morning as I am taking care of 2 of my granddaughters tomorrow.
I will make tomorrow a good day. I guess one bad day out of 2 1/2 weeks is ok.
Happy Thursday to you.

Congratulations Wanda. What great incentive to keep working on changing your way of eating. I like being able to have anything I want...just watching th portions and "not eating the whole thing!".
I just responded to your other post. I lost 2 pounds this week for which I am very thankful. You are right...it makes you want to continue. I did work in the yard today a little. It was cold but we had to get all the branches from last week's wind storm picked up.
I have been thinking about buying a recumbant bike and may just go do so tomorrow. I am not very good about exercising and I know I would be more motivated to use the bike as I can get both aerobic and anaerobic exercise on it. Will just have to work on upper body with weights.
Take care................nancy

HI Hope things went well for you this weekend. The birthday party went well only had a small piece of cake. It is very cold here just when I thought it was getting warm enough to go and do a liitle yard work we get this cold front and stops that thought. Lost five pounds last makes me want to try extra hard next week to see if I can lose more...
Well catch you later Wanda

Congratulations to you husband.
I am headed to oldest granddaughter's basketball game today. From the looks of our yard I will be picking up tree branches if it warms up. We had quite a wind storm here yesterday and last night along with freezing weather. Rather an unusual combination for the Puget Sound area.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Wanda,
How wonderful! I know your granddaughters will enjoy celebrating their special day with you.
Besides the 3 granddaughters over the age of 6, i have one 3 weeks old and a grandson almost 3. I certainly understand what you say about the children having everything. Mine do too. That is why I decided when the oldest one turned 6 that it was much easier to let her choose her own gift. I know they are choosing something that they like.
Today I looked at a recumbant bike. In fact I rode one in Sears for about 15 minutes. I am very tempted to buy it. I like the idea of being able to read while I am exercising. I have arthritis in my knees which haven't bothered me until the last month. I actually felt better after using the cycle. Having been thinking about buying the bike since the first of the year, I might as well do it. It definitely isn't a hasty decision!!! HA!
I keep waiting for the dessert desire to grab me. So far, I haven't been tempted. I am really terrified to even consider eating anything sweet for fear I will binge. When I want something sweet, I eat an orange.
It is freezing here. Supposed to get really cold tomorrow night. Then will begin warming up again into 40's. We are enjoying the days though....lots of sunshine!
Take care.

Hi Just have to tell what a good idea it is to have a granddaughters day for a birthday present it sounds so good I am going to try and start it with my Grands kids.(hope you don't mind me using your idea)My Grandkids have everything in the world so to let them pick out their own gift is fantastic and to spend the time with them is part of the gift too. I think they will apprriciate it all the more. My oldest Granddaughter will be 21 next month and my youngest was 5 last month quite an age spread.
I have realy wanted to have somehting sweet and gooy today but have resisted so far but I am not in bed yet..lol..I feel much better than when I was eating the wrong things. Well better get on the bike. Hope your day is a good one tomorrow.
Wanda

Hi Wanda
Glad you are still posting, and still trying. I had a bad day yesterday but am back on track today!! I have a dog so have to take him out 3 times a day, which I am trying to make longer each time, and to walk brisker. I am enjoying doing exercises at home and seem to have got into a routine with them. My waist is definately smaller and my love-handles are not so huge!! Hope you manage to find a way to exercise that suits your life-style. Sandra

Good for you. Exercise will come in time. I know I mentioned that even though I am retired, I don't make time for exercising.
Why don't you take a low calorie ice cream bar to eat when the cake and ice cream are served?
On or near each of my grandchildren's birthdays beginning when they turn 6, I take them birthday shopping for their gift and to lunch. It is a special time with each one. At this time, I have 3 granddaughters that have reached the "birthday time with grandma" time: ages 11, 8 and 6. It is a fun time and hopefully giving the girls some special memories.
I had a good day. I feel good about where I am at this point. Just have to exercise!!! HA!
Remember...you CAN do it!

I can't even imagine what a traumatic experience that must have been to have your son so severely injured. Thank goodness he is recovering. My prayers are with both of you and your family.

Good evening Wanda,
I have lived almost my entire life in Washington. I grew up in Spokane. When Bill and I married, we spent two years in Georgia while he served in the Army. Came back and settled in Tacoma. We owned our own business. We ended up retiring early...10 years ago when we sold.
We bought a lake cabin in Olympia, about 20 miles south of Tacoma which we have expanded and remodeled and now live in. We do enjoy Olympia as it is a smaller community and it is so peaceful living on a lake.
I know it sounds repetitious, but I don't see how I ever found time to work! However...I am not very good at finding time to exercise either!!! HA!
Perhaps you could take 5 minute breaks and walk around the block...weather permitting. I can give good advice...I just don't follow it!
Our weather here is turning cold...freezing. However, living on the west side of the mountains, our weather is usually pretty mild year round.
Have a great day.

Hi all Here it is my second day and already feel better. My blood sugar is down where it is suppose to be .Guess I was just kidding myself thinking what I ate and how much didn't matter...!!!! The exersize is going to be my biggest problem until I can get in the habit but am confident that it will come. My son was injured last July while he was under a 15,000 Lb. truck it was pushed off the jacks and it fell on him.It severed a couple of arteries in his abdobmen and ruptured his small bowel. Most of the bowel had to be removed and he had to have an iliostomy until things heal . He will have it reversed in April but still won't have much of his small bowel so he is on TPN everyday for nutrition. I keep telling hime I would gladly give him some of my weight as he has lost 50 lbs. (which he didn't need to lose) but things are looking better as he has gained 5 lbx. over the last month. Well enough about that I need to go sit on the bike and see if I can't get a few minuets in . Thanks for your support.

Hi Wanda
How are you getting on? Hope you have managed to stick to it. I really find it helps to go online everyday for hints, inspiration and motivation. We will support you but need feedback from you. Keep us posted!!! Sandra

Hi Wanda I hit an all time high in my weight a week ago last Saturday. I didn't give myself a chance to even think about it, I went to the internet, discovered this site and joined immediately. I lost 10 pounds the first week. I already feel better, am watching portions and continue to be motivated. I now hope to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.
But, I must admit the exercise is my downfall. I have been working in my gardens which can count as exercise. I like that!
You mentioned your son was hurt in a farming accident. I hope he is ok now.
You have taken the right step by joining sparkpeople. You can lose!!! We can lose!!! Keep me posted on how you are doing.

The weight just kept creeping up. Now it's time to do somesthing about it. Would appricate any support. Thanks
