I think it is great that you count points, because it is what works for you.

For me, counting calories seems to work better but the thing about getting a grasp on this food issue is what we find that works for us.

Support on these boards is such a wonderful way to validate that we are not alone.

It amazes me as I read posts at how much we all have in common...and how this food issue is definitely a way that we all deal with stress, sadness, happiness or whatever.

Hope you don't mind...you'll be in my thoughts and prayers....Make it a great day.......kath

Hi Kath:

You have no idea ho much it meant for you to reply to my post.
I am stressed and think I eat because of it. I know I should not eat because of stress. But I am happy for all the support that I have found on here. I do know that ultametly it is up to me.
But just to chat with people that have been through all of this .
My health is not the best either.
I just have finished with 20 radiation treatments for low grade non hodgkins lymphoma last year.
So hope it stays in remission.
So if I can conquer this eating habit I shall be well off.
I hope that you are doing well also.
I guess I am so used to counting points I can not seem to get away without it. Tryed counting calories.
Till later and thanks Kath.
Hilde

The fact that you keep trying Hilde shows just how committed you really are.

I've never done the counting points thing, but my husband and one daughter has. They both did well as long as they paid close attention to it.

I prefer to not think about food too much, or else I devour everything, and have pretty much accepted a diet of salad, chicken, cottage cheese, fruit, vegetables, oatmeal or breakfast bars (the raisin bran crunch bars are delicious and only 110 calories) mini bag of 94% fat free popcorn and occasionally a good sirloin. I do know that for me focusing on what I can have works much better than if I have to focus on what I can't have.

I took care of my Mom for a few years as well and remember how frustrating it can be at times. Hang in there and know that this too shall pass. Try to take for yourself...a walk around the block, or a punching bag might get some of it out and is great exercise too.

Hope this helps some....Make it a great day........kath

hello Hilde...
You sound a little stressed. I can relate. I have an 84 year old parent. I love him dearly but sometimes I feel a little stressed between being there for him and again for my children. I guess that is why they call us the sandwich generation.
Good luck with all your battles.
Wendy

Well, today was another loss. But I need to realy think about what I am doing. Everyone sounds like they are in such good control. What plan is everyone on? If I may ask.
I am so used to counting points.
So that is what I do.
But it doesnt work most of the time. I seem to not deal well with stress. I look after my Mom who is 84 and she seems to still treat me like a child when I am 60 years old myself.
Also babysit for my sisters 11 year old, after school.
Maybe I am now getting stressed out about everything. I did loose 15 lbs last summer due to radiation treatments for low grade lymphoma.
But those lbs found me again.
So now I am having a hard time quitting. But I will keep trying.
Thanks for all your nice posts. I am totally enjoying this board.
Everyone is so nice.
Thanks again
Hilde
